    Nope.

Going 2nd is still a disadvantage for the vast majority of decks.

Only few decks can generate an advantage from going 2nd.

    Statistically measured.

Has there ever been a relevant competitive deck that was better going second? I know some rogue decks were pretty close but the last time I saw the data was a couple years ago.

posted a message on HS vs MTGA, and why?

Three reasons I prefer Hearthstone to traditional MTG (having not played Arena):

    1) This

    Quote from Blues >>

i love mtg and played it for almost 10 years (physical version), but sadly it does not translate well into virtual mode simply because you need prompts for every phase / instant answers and it gets slow and boring af...

MTG can be great in person, but if playing against someone not really paying attention it can be very frustrating and that is far worse online because you can’t just smack or yell at the person.

    2) ThiS

    Quote from xX_Clerk_Xx>>

i think hearthstone wins for the flavor, and liveliness of it. MTGA does not have that kind of flavor to it,

MTG doesn’t have great flavour. Most of it is pretty generic fantasy without the quirkiness and far more disjointed than Hearthstone.

    3) Lands and mulligan. While bad draws happen in hearthstone, they are far rarer and a big part of that is that you can’t end up drawing just lands or no lands and being completely helpless. A half decent deck and alright mulligans should give you early game plays virtually every game. The free mulligan is also really nice, especially for a more causal player that may not be as good at judging the value of cards with the large cost of an MTG mulligan

posted a message on What is the best way to implement a new playable class ?

You don’t, unless the game is winding down and you want to make one last grab for cash from it.

To implement a proper new class without flopping or seriously hampering the game by not developing existing classes, you would pretty much need to do a fourth expansion with just the new class (either coinciding with a regular expansion or separately). To make a class viable in wild (and you do not realease a new class that can’t be reasonably played in all modes) you likely need 150-200 class cards, which is more than any expansion.

No, it isn’t going to happen unless Blizzard is absolutely desperate to drum up some buzz. And in that situation it will likely be shoddily done and not worth playing the game.

posted a message on Nerfs - The dust refund policy must be changed as it's not fair anymore
    Quote from HeimPucci >>

While i was reading this thread, i actually kinda changed my mind and understand the players suffering from this financially.

First of all, i didnt craft kingsbane or shudderwock i hated kingsbane deck at first sight when i saw it this month, and always hated shudderwock.

Then when youre talking about netdeckers, i know youre talking about that rank 9 playing his op deck like a chimp and winning games just because his deck was broken. But as it was previously said, some players are really trying to understand and play decks made by others, even competitively. It is not unsane, it is significant for the game, you cant blame all of them. Of course i looked at what dog was playing, i invested for sham evolve and pogo rogue lol but i do think it is part of the game.

And i can understand those who spend money for the expansion, looked at the best decks and tried them. They might not all complain about that for sure, but maybe Blizzard doesnt assume completely its part of responsibility here, as theyre the one who designed all those cards, putting them into our hands.

Maybe a solution could have been 2 or 3 packs as a refund for the players ?

But even with that i will not forget that those nerfed decks are just no longer over powered, and still playable for those who really wants to play them.

And honestly, be more careful with your golds/money.

( I laughed hard at the guy who crafted kingsbane last year and still wants a refund lol )

There is no way to have nobody lose out. I feel that this is reasonable (and a few packs would give most people more, but still pale in comparison to the cost of a few legendaries). Some people win and some lose, but that is going to happen no matter what. I think the people saying the nerfs chosen were dead wrong. They are pretty logical, reasonable, and mostly things I have seen requested by many players.

The only complaint I can see as being very strong is “I crafted a deck right after the expansion on the basis that it would be good for at least two months”. I do feel that the timing of nerfs was a reasonable expectation based on past performance and some people would make a different decision if they knew nerfs were possible this soon. In that case the only real option I think would be, if Blizzard can do so, refund heavily impacted epics and legendaries crafted since the expansion launched.

Kingsbane is a great mechanic, but the continuous life steal was a problem. And adding “this keeps enchantments except lifesteal” would be dumb.

Why couldn't it be something like - "It keeps all but two enchantments (or something similar)"?  That way the flavour of the card survives - you get punished for the opponent destroying it, there's some thought about when to apply buffs and it doesn't last forever.  I think Blizz could be way more imaginative with the nerfs...then again 18 deck slots was too complicated so who knows...

     That would utterly destroy Kingsbane.

The problem with Kingsbane was the constant and massive healing, especially when a lack of reliable healing has been a defining characteristic of Rogue. The logical action is to take lifesteal away from it. Getting “creative” is pointless when the problem is right in front of you.

From a design perspective the needs they chose are the logical ones.

Kingsbane is a great mechanic, but the continuous life steal was a problem. And adding “this keeps enchantments except lifesteal” would be dumb.

Druid’s biggest issue has been the effectiveness of its ramp for quite a while. The effectiveness of ramp means it is very dangerous releasing big powerful cards for them and early game cards are often useless. They could have nerfed other cards now to adjust things, but this is the long term action that was needed. And should have been done a long time ago

For Saranite, this doesn’t impact a cool legendary and it provides a minor hit to other annoying decks (valanyr plus Saranite just being dumb, for example)

In general, the lower the rarity the more boring the card and the more attractive the nerf. So yes, unless if you are targeting an archetype you will generally hit the commons that are important components first.

posted a message on Snapjaw and Spririt Infinte combo...

That looks nifty. But I am not seeing it being viable.

What do you use as the finisher? The combo could eat up a control decks resources but could it stop their big finishers? Atempo based or combo deck is going to just kill you. Maybe you can combine it with an divine spirit / inner fire combo? But adding all these cards to a combo deck seems awful counterproductive.

Also it can be managed by most classes, if you have any AOE: kill/silence the snapjaw and nuke the spirits else silence one one spirit means no need for AoE just kill the two others.

If you can make a viable 25 card control deck and add this to it, it could be a great addition but on its own it is lacking.

posted a message on Any opinions on Griftah?

If you don’t care about golden cards, treat any golden legendary as a “legendary of my choice” (same for other cards, except commons that are “common of my choice plus five dust”

unless it is something that is likely to be nerfed. so Griftah is good to go.

    Quote from KaitoSama >>

seems bad to play with it for Discover 3 mana not worthy i don't like to skip 3 mana just for Discover Spell
in rogue class already has Preparation and Discover with 1 mana card, so they bring Two effects for the shaman and make it 3 mana xD
The Discover effect make the card too bad if they just put the same effect of Preparation for shaman with 0 mana dat will be epic card not like this one the rare cards still better than this epic

If you play a spell after this it is a zero mana discover a spell. Outside of Big Spell decks, I doubt very many wouldn’t at least consider running a zero mana discover a spell.

It may actually be the most obvious power creep in the HS history so far besides - spell was changed into 3/2 minion with the same rarity, effect and mana cost (well, if we are not counting Dr 7 era)

Same thing happened to gang up

Gang Up is slightly better than the lab recruiter battlecry as it can target opposing minions. Obvious power creep but the text is different.

Cool card. I doubt it will be very good, but it is definitely neat with some tricks can you use it for (pseudo windfury or rush, triggering on attack buffs). And any hunter spell needs some consideration. But I just don’t think it is good enough for constructed (and can’t rely on having beasts in arena).

It doesn’t seem so bad. Just bad. A card that is pretty much unplayable unless in combination with a legendary doesn’t seem like the best option. And your opponent is still at 6 mana (having the mana edge) while you still have to draw your minions before you can start to benefit.

I really like this card and it’s effect, though.

I don’t know if it will be top of the meta, I expect it won’t, but at some point in the next year or so someone will find a brutal combo with it and there will be mass calls for a nerf.
