To be honest I haven't had the chance to try this deck once since the release.
Feel free to change cards and try it out.
Edit: After thinking about the current meta, I would probably change Edwin VanCleef for Unearthed Raptor but honestly both are a bit clunky in a one of list.
Haha i've been discussing this Twilight Summoner a lot lately. Played against it while playing my N'Zoth rogue which uses Tomb Pillager instead.
In this list, you can't really afford to drop a 1/1 that may not even become a 5/5 for a few turns, a 5/4 that gives a coin to enable combo or earlier plays is more useful imo, sometimes I've even coined Tomb Pillager on turn 3 to threaten my opponent plus you get a coin back if he kills it right away.
I think people over hype this card mostly because pro players like Trump or Dog include it in their lists.
I know Sylvanas Windrunner is awesome, especially in control-type decks. Alas, I don't have her, nor do I have the dust to craft her right now. I was wondering if I could fit Ysera into her spot. How do you think she'd perform in this deck?
I personnaly don't like Ysera (because I don't like 9 mana minions in general) but yes she could fit in. You could also try Elise Starseeker if you have completed the last wing of LOE.
I just played a game with Ysera, managed to win with her vs a control priest, but rng was really in my favour. She's probably good but I'm sure there's a bunch of better replacements for Sylavanas. I'll try some other stuff out too. Thanks.
Here's a few options that can do a decent job in the deck : Anub'arak, Justicar Trueheart, The Black Knight (would require some tries to be sure about this one), Toshley (spare parts can be good, especially the Emergency Coolant and the Time Rewinder), Alexstrasza and Brann Bronzebeard. Hope I helped you!
about 4 games so far and haven't lost :} let's see how far I get
replaced prep with blade flury as it has a good combo with spell dmg
beneath the grounds is much better of a card than sprint
fkn finaly a deck I can actually play aside from not having dr boom sylvanys and thalnos which i replaced with molten giant kelthuzad and kobold geomancer tell me what u think guys
I'll reply to all your comments in one post if you don't mind.
First, I'm glad you found a deck that you can play. That being said I'm not sure about Beneath the Grounds is better than Sprint, it might be better in some games (especially if you are going to fatigue against another control deck) but overall drawing 4 cards is simply better imo. Same goes for Blade Flurry replacing Preparation, against aggro you already have a few tools to stop the carnage with taunts and AOE, Blade Flurry just feels a bit over the top and doesn't provide the flexibility of Preparation since you are mostly going to switch hero power asap plus it's just one damage to all minions, might as well use another Fan of Knives. I'm curious on how the deck performs with Kel'Thuzad and Molten Giant, you should play a Loot Hoarder instead of the Kobold Geomancer, drawing as much as you can to get answers is more important than spell power.
After around 45 games with the deck (don't have much time to play every day), the deck performs pretty well as it is, but like any control deck, if your opponent gets a good opening and you get a bad starting hand + first draws, well, you're pretty much screwed, lost like 7-8 games like that. It didn't happen a lot to me tho compared to the number of games played, there's a lot of cards to deal with early board.
I'm not gonna lie, the deck is pretty hard to play but it's very rewarding when you win, for me it's something I've been looking for a few months now.
I hope you'll have fun with it anyway !
Hi there again! I played with the deck for about 20 games and kept making changes as I went. Some cards were working, others not so much. I didn't like cards that were dead sometimes, like Big Game Hunter and Preparation. I had exactly 50% win rate (due to not enough games being played)
I made some changes to the deck, to make it easier to trigger Reno, and to include a fun combo card (and alternate win con), Poisoned Blade. Naturally, I'm one to try out new and crazy, probably unsuccessful things, just to see if it'd work. WELL BOY OH BOY!
I fought the gritty fight and defeated a Control Warrior. He made a dozen misplays because he couldn't predict what deck I was using. He used Harrison Jones against my daggers, and Cruel Taskmaster + BGH against a Loatheb, all the while I had a Dr. Boom in hand. He didn't play bad, he just didn't know what I was playing. The turn Harrison hit my daggers was the turn I pulled out Lesser Heal from Mrrgglton, so he thought I would never pick up my weapon again, and called it square. Well then I dropped Poisoned Blade. I took it straight into fatigue. He had well over 80 hp throughout the entire game, and Poisoned Blade plus Fatigue, and two minions he couldn't kill, won me the game. I waited for a WHILE before I played Reno Jackson (The next turn I'd have taken 5 Fatigue damage, and I was at 3 HP, so Lesser Heal wouldn't have saved me).
All in all, I really think, if performed intelligently, Poisoned Blade can easily fit in this deck. I removed Preparation, since I find myself usually holding a bucket full of minions, and on the times where I would use it, Sprinting for 7 (or 6 thanks to Emperor T) is fine by me.
DEATHLORD MVP! I also added in Tazdingo (Sen'jin Shieldmasta), subbing out a Twilight Drake. This will help consistency for Reno, as well as an extra taunt in the deck, which did let my Doomsayer proc off.
Well, thanks for the feedback man, really appreciate, also really glad you got the chance to try the CW match-up because after 30 games with the deck I didn't face any.
I was thinking today about removing a Twilight Drake for a Refreshment Vendor but I like your idea of a Sen'jin Shieldmasta more.
I'm still gonna keep the Preparation tho, because it's like a swiss knife, 2 mana Assassinate or 4 mana Sprint allow you to play a minion or something else with it, which I really like. I might try the Poisoned Blade to see if it works for me because i'm really curious (and it would be the first time a competitive deck can make use of it).
No problem! I love helping out with decks, and when I saw this deck, I realized I haven't jumped onto a Control Rogue with Sir Finley yet. I've done mostly everything else so... :)
The issue with Poisoned Blade is that it's so fragile, and still quite slow. Since I was playing against control warrior, the matchup was gonna be slow anyway and it worked. Faced off against a few other decktypes and Poisoned Blade wasn't as cool. It didn't suck, but I had to use it's charges to kill minions, rather than reach for lethal against face.
And I totally understand keeping Preparation. I just kept getting unlucky with it. :P
Freeze Mage plays Doomsayer with Frost Nova for a large board clear. When are you able to net Doomsayer value in this deck?
Early game, you just drop one on turn 2/3 for easy clear or hide him behind a Deathlord (you can usually deal with what comes out of it). I'm considering removing one for Loatheb, Alexstrasza or Coldlight Oracle tho. I'm currently using two because i'm scared I wouldn't draw one early enough. But yeah in general if you draw one late game it's pretty much a dead card, sometimes it takes a silence which otherwise would target something more useful.
Thought as much... I like the thought of running a Coldlight, since it doesn't just help the draw, but also counters Anyfin Can Happen. :P Jokes aside, I'll be messing around with this deck, playtesting it and stuff. XD I'll see where I can fit in a Loatheb. Maybe -1 Twilight Drake? I'll have to play around with it.
Just made a few changes according to your advice; took one Doomsayer out and added Loatheb, plus took out Backstab that felt kinda useless, added Preparation again. Will try removing a Twilight Drake for a Coldlight Oracle.
Oh and I forgot, if you have a stats tracker, feel free to link them to me. I'm not using one atm and I'm really curious. I've played around 30 games with the deck and I've lost 6 or 7 I think. Mostly to zoo because it can be back on board really fast.
Ah I just track my own games. Physical pen and paper here! :P
I'll let you know my winrate though.
