I've played over 20 games in Rogue with a very draw and removal heavy build and still I can't get close to completing C'Thun...much less drawing him. Same goes for N'Zoth and I've even tried some of the net deck variants here (as much as I hate to admit that). I've seriously not completed C'Thun once and by the time I lay down N'Zoth it's of no value. And please, save the comments about variance, deck build, etc. I get it, there's aggro out there and it straight up counters anything I'm trying to do with C'Thun or N'Zoth. I'm just curious if anyone is else is amazed by the fact that Blizzard prints new cards in Darkmoon like C'Thun and N'Zoth and still allows all the tools for every variation of DH and Hunter to be a thing. Seriously, what's the use? It's turn 6 or 7 and the game is over when facing DH and Hunter...and these are the overwhelming majority of decks you face in the meta. The C'Thun pieces neither heal nor clear a board early enough to be of any value. Honestly, I just dont get why they print what would otherwise be fairly cool and interactive cards like this if we can never play them in the meta they're released. It's not a matter of salt, frustration or anything along those lines...I truly just dont see the value in cards like this if you can't consistently get close to playing them.
Yeah, the whole theme of the expansion is the old gods at the fair, and none of the old gods cards are very good. They are all cards that would have been overpowered at other times, but they just don't work yet.
It's like when they did a dinosaur expansion and none of the dino's were good.

It's hard to complete C'thun in rogue. But if you really want to complete it there's some other deck that could easily finish it when they own the match.
It was Control Warrior, Albatross Priest, Control Highlander Mage.
The thing is we see C'thun as a combo card when it wasn't, at all. C'thun is just a control card that only shine in control matchup. Just like Archivist Elysiana. Most of the time she never shows up in any match, until you face that grindy control matchup and you so happy you include her. Except C'thun parts can be use to control the board when Elysiana is just a dead card in hand. Also, C'thun is 5 less fatigue count than Elysiana, but C'thun deal 30 damage right away, which is better than 5 fatigue count.
The core issue is control deck doesn't see much light because demon hunter somehow can aggroing control deck pretty easily.
Exactly - maybe that's a big part of my frustration. I have expectations for a new expansion and would like to think that new Legendary cards (at least the Old Gods) would be somewhat viable; but, they're just not. I squeek out a win w/ N'Zoth every once in awhile against control decks, but, mostly I'm just getting steam rolled by all the meta decks - DH, Hunter, Shaman and Pally. With regards to C'Thun, I'm not sure the pieces would even be much better at a 2 mana cost reduction. They just have limited value vs. the meta decks.
Fair enough - maybe I do try to force the class I prefer to play a bit too much w/ C'Thun; but, the tools are there in Rogue. Just seems like it should be able to get there. But, you make a good point. Probably best to try the Mage or Warrior variations.
I’ve played C’Thun Druid for since MDF release and end up playing him less than 10% of the games. I’ve made many deck variants incorporating Lorekeeper Polkelt, fast draw, and even had lucky games where the pieces are in the first 5 cards I draw, but the chance of pulling him off is very slim with the large scale Agro decks that are out there.
a shame that all of the new cool cards are outshone by the same boring decks of the last 4-5 months. This has to be the least Impactful and most boring expansion I have played.
I've actually managed to play C'thun with priest (didn't think it would work without draw) by playing lots of card draw minions and typical stall tactics. But it's really hard to clear the board and play him for a guaranteed kill. Aggro is probably going to overrun you more often than not, and warlocks are playing tickatus to ruin your day. It's clunky, rickety otk deck and one feels you'd just be better off playing something else.
C'thun would be great if meta was not the most aggro oriented meta in Hearthstone history. When previous C'thun was released, 7/7 on turn 4 with overload 2 was a good play. Now Shaman on turn 4 has two 7/9 which draw him cards at end of turn and few more weaker creatures. Without being overloaded.
I get what people are saying but at the same time, I've had him go off and been killed with him enough times that it's not annoying. I 'well played' and let the animation play out. If it was easier to pull off though and you saw it semi regularly, I guarantee these boards would be flooded with complaints as well. It'll be in the game for a year and a half yet so there will be plenty of time for it to shine but it's probably a good job it's kept in check for now.
It will only take a few cards to suddenly spring control into a better place and there's enough expansions before it rotates out that it isn't crazy to think that may happen.
So, I actually have been playing a lot of spell mage with C'thun, and I've had quite a bit of success with it. Not necessarily playing C'thun, but the extra spells in deck for Deck of Lunacy is a real thing. And if I draw most of the pieces first, I'll wait and see if I can get the last ones.
But my very first time actually assembling C'thun was against a priest.
I drew him, but the opponent's board was too big to just play him, so I tried to clear out some health first.
Madame Lazul was played. I had 7 cards in hand. The odds were on my side.
My turn, tried to clear out more stuff. Sweating bullets.
But honestly, Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate has been just nothing but success for me. Basically every outcome on the wheel is good if you're a bit behind on board. So, there's that.
I have Yogg and CThun in a Quest Warlock deck, and I get him out often enough... Even in the Old Gods expansion, you didn't get your Cthun out all of the time, and this meta is much faster.. I really don't think the pieces are that bad... I'm enjoying it (other than Rod of Roasting with Yogg).
C'thun is a good tech against other control decks. The pieces are fine to pretty good in most match ups, especially since they can't pop up in your mulligan. (Heart of C'thun and Eye of C'thun can do a lot of work, Body is just really good tempo usually) If you're playing hard to build and play C'thun, that's usually a mistake. C'thun is your counter to hard control match ups.
N'zoth is good. But again, end game win condition in slower match ups. And building your deck too greedy for him is probably a mistake too.
I think both are good cards, even in this meta.

My point exactly and better stated.

...less
There you go I completed the title for you
Honestly, Yogg has been very good for me personally (I even won the one time where I got the Rod of Roasting). So it's not that all bad.
Have to say though, I see C'thun in a good place at control heavy decks. Those aren't really happening that much right now I feel.

I feel the same frustration. The only viable control deck is warrior, and i dont have risky skipper, so i cant play that deck.
Not much good but variations of mid range right now.
Galavant Animation
C'Thun is very good in Duels, and the battlecry can trigger in the early games of the run.
Tickatus isn't fun or interactive
The true madness is that there are people who try to play old gods at the demon hunters fair. I guess only beasts are above deceit...
Its funny that the best thing about cthun is it discounts the new removal spell, malicious strike ..

His turn.
C'Thun, the Shattered.
