It was strong, it was automatically included, it wasn’t completely busted for years. When warrior got patches and other pirate support it was the archetype that broke the card. Warriors initial identity was the weapon class, a 3/2 for 2 isn’t ridiculous when that is the focus of the class. When it shifted to warrior is aggro pirates now, that cornerstone weapon from weapon warrior became too damn strong. It’s not nostalgia, it’s objectively looking at how the game has evolved. I’ve been playing since launch though, so I recall when chillwind yeti was a great card and naxx introduced deathrattles and people said they weren’t as good as battlecries because they can be silenced, and everyone is running ironbeak owl. However they were still playable because of one certain card...
"Automatically included" in every archetype meaning that Fiery War Axe is completely busted and is only limited by how good the rest of the Warrior cards are. Even Power Word: Shield, generally agreed to be one of the most powerful cards in Priest and is the only 1 mana cycle, didn't even have that honor.

Overwhelmingly good until so far, and it seems that the majority of voters think the same way. The decision to remove Genn and Baku a year ahead of time was spot on. The meta is still open, I feel that there are still several viable decks to develop. If you indeed are bored, maybe it is time to take a break?

We must have different definitions of busted. FWA could be played around and until pirate warrior, it was fine. Hell, back then, Gorehowl was also auto included, because that’s what warrior did was weapons. Busted cards are pre-nerf cavern creeper where you could get a free 5/5 on turn 3, well before anyone could cast a bigger minion. Pre-call to arms where you could cheat out 3 2 cost minions for 4 mana was quite busted. A rallying blade for one mana less and no battlecry or death rattle is hardly game breaking until an archetype abuses it.
Overall, I think the game is definitely in a better state.
I'm a bit concerned with this Elysiana trend we're seeing in Specialist. A lot of Hecklebots should start being maindecked in control. I don't know if that's enough though.
Thankfully token druid is being refined to a point where it's actually "good" now. I hope other aggro decks won't be far behind.
It's great so far. The meta formation is exciting as we are seeing a lot of powerful builds clashing with each other. I also think there is untapped potential for new builds. The thing I like most is I am not losing to a single unbalanced card every match like pre-rotation.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
So far I've been loving this new expansion. I've played a bunch of decks and a lot of them have stood out as being strong. I've had a lot of fun with miracle mage cough signature cough, control shaman, bomb warrior, and murloc shaman.
It's also just nice to not be so reliant on drawing keleseth by turn 2 to win, or having to defeat your opponent before they could slam gul'dan, or deal with like anything from Kobolds and Catacombs. Playing standard now just makes me hate Year of the Mammoth expansions to be honest.

I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.
I don't like this expansion, for me it is extremely bored, everything is so old, nothing new in the game. For you? Let's vote!
This expansion created a whole new mechanic for warlock with Plot Twist and Aranasi Broodmother... It created a whole new mechanic for Warrior with Blastmaster Boom and the bomb cards (and don't say Seaforium Bomber... I know it existed first, but it didn't push a new archetype)... how can you say everything is old when there are new archetypes, new mechanics (Twinspell/Lackey) and a majority of decks run cards that were never played before, either because they are new or because they couldn't compete with the OP cards from Year of the Mammoth?
I love this expansion. Finally no more pally and a control meta. Thats the only thing i wanted to see.
I am happy that you liked. I don't like it because my issue is that I wanted something new because, for me, the game is becoming bored. Nothing new was added, so the expansion for me it is extremely bored. I am playing the old miracle rogue so I really don't like. I can't play wild because I am too bored to see only big priests. I really hate this expansion. For me it is the worst ever expansion made.
There are a TON of new deck ideas and strategies, you just have to look harder than surface level.
IMPO, this is the best expansion to drop since KnC
It's interesting. Making lots of new decks, not facing the same decks as before (like when there is no rotation). Winning my fair share of games and having fun.
Would've been even better if i opened more than 2 legendaries in 80 packs...
Three days since the release and people already calling it "old".
Man it is old. Did you see something new?
Bombs: We already had it
DR Boom: it is more or less the same
Burgle rogue: we already had it
Togwaggle: it si Marin
Daring escape: Shadowstep
Buffs for druid: we already had it
Catrina Muerte: It is similar to kel'thuzad and y'shaarj
Ress and silence priest: we already had it
Convincing infiltrator: It is similar to the statue
Portal keeper and Portal overfiend: They are similar to Fal'Dorei
Togwaggle scheme: Gang up
Murloc Shaman: we already had it
Rafaam: it is the monkey
Zoolock: We already had it
The design is very vey poor in my opinion.
Yeah, definitely either a troll or an idiot. Most likely a mixture of the two.
Or probably you are an idiot or a Blizzard fan child. Most likely a mixture of the two.
You need to understand game design. In a game that scales (such as MTG with playing Lands or Hearthstone with gaining mana each turn), there are going to always be: aggro, midrange, control, combo, tempo, and anti-meta decks. Zoo will always exist because people will always look for a way to make fast Warlock decks and abuse the Draw hero power. I'm interested in the people who complain about things that really can't be changed due to the intrinsic nature of card games that scale as the game progresses (unlike Yu-Gi-Oh!, which has no scale system and is centered around comboing off early and disrupting your opponent's combos). Like, if you have a problem with these things then you must have an alternative in mind... how would you fix these issues?
All I want is a control Shaman to work, keeping Warrior at bay but then the bombs fuck me, trying Archwhatever (replace deck with 10 cards) but cn't keep up with burgle/tempo rogue and that's all i'm meeting on ladder.
I'm bummed, been trying so many counters to these decks and I just keep on losing. Thought Muckmorpher and new Hagatha would be a cool idea but it's just way too slow. Lost like 6 in a row just now, but i quit before i properly tilted.
Guess I'll try again later, and again until I crash and try bomb warrior cancer (yeah it's not unbeatable just super frustrating, feeling like you can't do anything against it) especially in a control match up that isn't Warrior, I have healed back up to 30 4x in a game and still lost to bombs...
Overall feeling of 'meh'.
Dude, Walking Fountain and Witches Brew are awesome counters to Bomb Warrior for Shaman. You just need to outpace them and constantly have a full board, which isn’t too hard for Shaman. You can always play Big Paladin, which is a great counter to Bomb Warrior and absolutely wrecks them 8/10 games.
I love this expansion. Finally no more pally and a control meta. Thats the only thing i wanted to see.
On the contrary, Paladin is stronger than ever due to this expansion. Instead of focusing on small minions, they now have a big minion oriented deck that is a real powerhouse and counters Bomb Warrior and much of the meta. I’m excited for the new direction Paladin is heading in!
What Paladin deck?
I hope you don't mean Secret Paladin, cause it will be countered by Hunter if it ever becomes a success (Flare instantly guts the entire deck, and Hunter just got a handful of spell generation).
I'm not entirely sure, but I think he refers to a Heal or Dragon archetype. Those are to me, the most prominent at the moment.
I’m not referring to either of those decks. I’m talking about Big Paladin, a deck I made up right when the expansion launched. It’s so much fun and laughs at Bomb Warrior and Hunter. I’m working, but I will try and write out my deck list tonight.
I have enjoyed nothing but new in this expansion. Rotation just moved the most toxic cards in Hearthstone's history to wild, so standard is an absolute blast to play. I've been enjoying the slower meta that isn't "Did I draw Rexxar/my combo before you did? If so, I win!" like it was just before this expansion.
I'm running a midrange hunter that has high value spell synergy and I've enjoyed every match I've played so far, win or lose.
I'm not sure what bores you in this expansion, but I'm glad I don't see what you see. This meta game feels like a return to Old Gods or a similar fun and healthy meta game.

Mid of the road to me, not the best or more enjoyable expansion but far from the worst.
Shit as hell.

You are saying the game doesn't feel fresh...and then you play an old deck on purpose....sense?

Ya'll are complaining about the meta being the exact same as always, meanwhile Firebat is on an entirely different level with Hakkar Warlock.
