Every other classes hero power costs 2. Wouldn't it have made sense to make it cost 2. Their hero power is one of the most problematic things about the class having so much damage output at their disposal.

Just stop whining... DH is not so problematic anymore. If you losing to it and it makes you mad its your fault.
Honestly, I like the 1-mana hero power. It's comparable to Rogue (since for Rogue it can be thought of as +1 attack for 2 attacks for 2 mana, while Demon Hunter is +1 attack for 1 attack for 1 mana). It helps make it feel distinct from Rogue by making Demon Hunter get all up in your face every turn to get the value, while Rogue feels more patient by comparison since they equip the dagger and wait to strike.
To be honest DH hero power is not worth 2 mana. It would be objectively worse than Mage's, Rogue's and Druid's. For it to be 2 mana it would have to be completely different. And considering DH's flavor, it pretty much had to do something with attacking. Very little space for design.

I don't remember the exact time but they tried many different HP like 2 mana + 1 (can be used twice each turn) or 2 mana +1 which also generated a new recource called "wrath"
They said it's for their class design because they want an aggressive class.
They cater what the casual players want.
Cards games need aggressive classes... deal with it.
Aggro player spotted. My condescending friend, we know the game needs aggressive decks - but maybe, just maybe, it'd be nice if they weren't so everpresent amongst tier one decks.
For fans or mains of a more control, midrange or combo-oriented strategy, it's understandably annoying when Blizzard pushes something so overtly OP geared towards aggro, because this game already lends itself to aggressive decks. Remember, we're having this discussion in the context of DH having been nerfed twice in a couple of months after its arrival... and still there are cries for more nerfs. IMO, it's because they haven't really touched on the core of the issue, which is the laughably superior access DH has to card draw. I'm fine with them hitting face, I'm fine with the class/tempo DH being tier one. I'm not fine with an aggro deck that seemingly can't run out gas, no matter how hard it might try.

not so problematic? learn how to play other decks and classes dh nub
last I check most dh players do not trade with their HP they go face. paying 1 mana in combo with their overpowered warglaives and 0 mana add 1 damage twin spell is ridiculous not to mention when comboing with altruis just to name another broken card.
Cannot wait till they nerf it a second time and this class officially dies in the low ranks where it belongs for ruining the meta.
I will always believe they had DH in the works but rushed it out knowing they could take advantage of the fact everyone is stuck home and what better way to suck in new players

Then why does Mage's hero power cost 2 while DH's doesn't? DH also has cards that have synergy with his hero power while Mage doesn't. So why is DH's a 1-cost?

I don't give a dam if they want it to be aggressive class.
mage hp only does 1 damage and costs 2.
Shapeshift
They do not face tank the minion. That's why.
Always expect the unexpectable!
There is a documentary that explains why, believe it is on IGN's youtube channel

but you're not taking potential hero damage by trading all the time

Should it have been 2 mana gain +2 attack this turn?
