I don't know what you are talking about. I play Dragon Priest and is really good in this meta. Probably better than hunter now. I see a lot of other priests too. Silence priest is even better than handlock despite both use same neutral cards.
The package Lyra, Shadow Visions, Radiant Elemental + Win condition (innerfire? elise pack?) is really good and will continue to be really good.

Yesterday and today I play all day, a lot of games and don't see a single priest in rank 4.
I am playing Dragon Priest in Wild and have only seen one other Dragon Priest. I have seen a silence Priest and a few quest Priests. I've also faced a few Priests in Standard (most recently silence) with my Mid Hunter deck.

Hell yeah! I love this deck I have ALMOST the exact same version and it is hella fun! Love control priest so much, I am just missing Lyra but she is what I am getting next for sure. Since control I put in Elise so you can find her packs end game with Shadow Visions. It works like 80% of the time it's crazy.
I'm still enjoying Priest a bunch with my Thief Priest. It's tons of fun and though I'm not exactly playing a viable deck, there is definitely a good amount of viable priest decks around.
I've been playing Dragon Priest for a couple of days in EU legend. Works extremely well, was especially good yesterday when there were Freeze Mages all over the place: in the new order of things, Priest is perhaps the best counter to Freeze Mage.
Priest is perhaps the best counter to Freeze Mage.
This seems like an amazing turn of events. I'm not playing Priest this expansion but my god... the Freeze Mage matchup was always the worst thing in the world. Just slightly worse to me than Handlock.

I know! Priest was my second golden hero, so I've played against Freeze Mage countless times as Priest, and lost, and lost, and lost..
The most important factor that has led to this state is that Freeze Mage lost the ability to OTK with the departure of Emperor Thaurissan and Ice Lance. 30 health actually means something now!
So, what Freeze Mage does now is try to get Alexstrasza down to set your health to 15, and pick up some additional burn from Primordial Glyph. They have Fireball+Fireball+Frostbolt for exactly 15 from hand, and with a single Glyph this can go up to 18 either with Fireball+Fireball+Glyphed Fireball for 2 mana = 18 or Thalnos+Fireball+Fireball+Glyphed Frostbolt for 0 mana = 18. With two Glyphs this can technically go up to 21-22, best case being Thalnos+Fireball+Fireball+two Glyphed Frostbolts for 0 mana = 22.
So, Freeze Mage no longer has the ability to OTK, but they still have a decent amount of overall damage (even that is lower than with Ice Lance and Forgotten Torch though).
What makes Priest so good in the matchup is Priest's ability to burst heal with Priest of the Feast and cheap spells - and even more cheap spells thanks to Shadow Visions that can pick up additional copies!
As a Priest, your typical answer to an Alexstrasza is something along the lines of Priest of the Feast + Shadow Word: Death + Power Word: Shield + Hero Power = 8 healing, back up to 23. And that's just the basic scenario! With Radiant Elemental and some Shadow Visions, you can heal for a lot more.
Furthermore, if you're running Lyra the Sunshard, the amount of healing can become just mind-blowing, but Priest of the Feast and spells alone are usually enough.
Dragon Priest can also discover some Ice Blocks with Drakonid Operative, that can also help a lot.
Overall, Priest has a lot of ways to deal with the damage Freeze Mage can deliver - it is not an auto-win, but it is definitely a favored matchup for Priest now.
(As a side note on new matchups, Freeze Mage is now favored against the most common type of Control Warrior, the Taunt Warrior, because Taunt Warrior cannot accumulate that much armor. Times have really changed.)
That's cool to know! Though I'd argue Taunt Warriors who are losing to Freeze Mage are probably still playing wrong, I don't think you ever equip Sulfuras until you know you're safe... let alone if they happen to be running Armorsmith. Definitely not as bad as Justicar days, but it still feels like a list that's going to make burn Mages sad.
Overall I'm a fan of Priest pulling shenanigans and winning games now. Lyra was a superb Legendary for them to get.

I've seen Quest Priest control, and Dragon's Priest, but mostly Silence priest. There's a little bit of Miracle / Lyra priest around too. I just wrote this one up trying to think of different ways to play priest.
The problem with priest is that he has no buffs at all. The buffs that he does have like Divine Spirit and Inner Fire require that you have both in your hand AND they take up two card slots. That is not even remotely fair, considering every other class has buffs that only require one card. It's total fucking bullshit, but it wouldn't be so bad if priest had an actual draw mechanic that worked. Northshire Cleric is an absolute worthless card that, while it worked well in vanilla, no longer has a place because there is no way to adequately buff her to make use of her.
Priest desperately needs a way to cycle his deck. It's utterly ridiculous when you play against classes like rogue or mage and you have 18 cards left in you rdeck while they have 6. Totally fucking stupid.
Ben Brode and Team 5 need to be fired ASAP because they continue to show their incompetence over and over again. I mean, seriously, little third graders could design a game better than they have.

Sounds like you played a couple of games with Priest, had Northshire die on turn 1, and concluded "Priest sucks." There are a lot of ways to cycle with Northshire (Cleric + Pyro + PWS + Circle has and always will exist), and you don't always just drop Cleric on turn 1, you have to use it strategically. Watch some of Kibler's recent games with Lyra Priest. Speaking of....Lyra is also a great card draw/cycle engine.
The drawback to having zero buffs is having the best mid/late game hero power. Aside from Warrior, no other class can stave off lethal, and aside from Dinomancy Hunter, no other class can use their hero power to make efficient trades and keep the board.

Priest is my main class, bub. I don't play anything but priest, even in its shit state. The northshire combo with pyro and circle of healing require 4 cards to get off. FOUR! That's 4 card slots that could be used for USEFUL minions.
And you just lost all credibility by calling priest's hero power good. It's not good and never has been.
Oh darn I lost credibility with a guy who thinks Priest is terrible because it lacks buffs and demands Ben Brode be fired. How will I ever comeback from this devastating setback?

Priest is like 7%, better than Druid, Warlock, Paladiin and close with Mage. Warlock is the real dumpster now in popularity.

I am keeping it alive in wild by playing Majordomo Quest priest (surprisingly you can get 40 health rag hero almost every time!)
But in standard there is silence priest, miracle lyra priest, and a very small amount of quest priest(much more viable in wild)
Golden legendary cards opened: Ragnaros the Firelord, Auctionmaster Beardo, Kalimos, Primal Lord
I'm really fan too of Lyra and Shadow Visions package. All the situacional spells is now a good thing for Priest. Even Mind control now can see play.

Yes, it's pretty much dead. Too inconsistent.
smorc asks: Why think with priest when you can go face as quest rogue?
Not sure if hyped yet.
