I wouldn't say free stuff is immediately the answer. The main problem I see is that you're a newb, you hop online to play against someone, and they've got golden legendaries and a finely tuned jade druid deck, that makes it feel like you can't ever win.
There should be divisions for players each month in addition to the ladder. There should be bronze, silver, gold, and platinum, each with their own ladders and each with their own rewards (more valuable up top, golden legends, etc but more quantity on the low end, uber rares & commons, etc)
f you finish Rank 5+ in a season or legend or whatever you want the entry fee at, you go up a league and you stay there. Forever.
That way, when newbs show up, they're playing in Bronze League, with other folk who have been bronze league all their Hearthstone life. And, there's new life breathed into ladder by not only trying to climb monthly, but climbing overall.
The other thing I would suggest would be 2/3 deck recipes for each class should consist of common/rares only. Experienced players don't use them, so they should be cheap to build with the 3rd one to be a "goal" of sorts.
What are you talking about if you finish rank 15 you can't fall back if you can't advance id say its due to lack of skill , noobs will always be noobs with good cards and bad cards , we see tons of budget decks even ones that mostly run rare and commons ex hunter and they can get to rank 10 or even 5 with a bit of time and effort .Yes ther are good players in rank 20 also maybe they didn't have time maybe they lost to other good players while trying to rank up,maybe ther just farming the 500 rank golden hero and conceding evry 2nd game but these cases are in a minority normal people try to get as high as they can on the ladder and the systhem is there for them , what you suggest is basicly well if you once had the cards to get to rank 5 you always fight people with rank 5 lets say you had the cards and luck once so after even if several expension passed where your missing cards you still have to battle the rank 5 players that will shred you to pieces winning 1/10 games . I know you got this idea from LOL and its the exact reason i left i played 3 years ago and based on my performance i was put in GOLD even tough i had like 20playable heroes getting matched with players that had a variaty of hereos to counter myn lossing 70% of my games ,so i quit once again
I agree, the game is very expensive. It is becoming very expensive for:
1) As you said decks are running more legendaries than before
2) Blizzard has doubled the number of class legendaries (before there was 1 legendary for class/expansion, now 2)
3) Blizzad is also printing bad legendaries (another cost, because if there are less legendary and are all good everything you find is ok, if there are bad legendaries your chance to find a bad one is higher so you will have to craft the good one)
4) There are no events in order to find free gold/dust
5) Yes the nerfs are another cost (but I am fine with this cost, Nerf are required and good for the game when required but I hate Blizzard's nerfs that destroy only cards but this is another thing).
Due to these reasons the game is much more expensive than before.
Blizzard wants to see more versatile classes ,ther was a time when you saw a class and you were like well this must be XXX cause that was the only competitive deck the class was running adventures, were limited to 56 cards @_@ and then raised to 85. Blizzard then thought " its still not enough, thers just not enough cards to see the variation in classes" so that why they only made 1 adventure in 2016 and then we have 0 in 2017 to see even more variations and they actually achieved ther goal since after ungoro most decks had like 2-3 archtypes (ex :agro-midrange-control) using a larger card pool
your point 1. yes we have more leg cause of expensions and no adv
2 and 3 thers actually more viable leg then before if you think back in GVG you only had to craft dr.7 (20/1) others weren't necessery but now runing a quest / or dk deck makes you to build around it just like how it was with reno so you are using a larger card poll cause you are using more and more class leg/cards ,and yes this makes it harder for f2p. But cmon blizzard helped us out with frozen throne you got 2 leg for free basicly from mission and the extra 3 pack at release and if you do your quest its not hard to save up gold for extra packs to get a 3rd leg (not to mention the no duplicate leg rule, it happened to me 3 times that i crafted a leg and then after few months i get it from a pack * - *)
4 we had plenty of events you had (free gold, free arena, vote for a champ get pack's,win and get a pack)
5 Nerfs: you can make them your adv just don't dust cards you think are op and will be nerfed ,you will get full value and only nerf that was wrongly made this time was the war axe which in my opinion should have been 2 mana 1/3 while atacking minions give this weapon +2 so control warrior dosn't lose 1 of his best tools,but pirate still gets slowed down as intended

Some people here talk about winrate ,the fact is overall winrate is decided by players, ( the deck has a really nice look to it if you see it in play) so players will start playing it just to give it a try , like many people stated it is 1 of hardest decks if NOT THE hardest to play so ofc inexperienced players will make mistakes and will drag the winrate down ,but if you favor the class and you know what your doing like tempostorm states its easly a tear 2 deck so if you got the dust and willing to commit to learn the deck definetly go for it
i started sep 20.2017 from rank 25 wild had a 16/4 win lose till rank 15 with slightly dif version of deck , after rank 13 you get alot of mirror matches tons of priest so got to rank 10 with 31/11 ,from there besides mirror matches another problem for me was midrange Hunter ofc im talking about aleycat turn 1,adapt or hyena turn 2 ,fledling turn 3 ,hydra turn 5 if your lucky with mulligan you can win and its a 3/4 min win/lose but mirror matches against other reno decks last about 20 min so after i got to rank 8 and 4 stars with a score 49-21 i switched to a faster deck to reach rank 5
Just like you sayd i came up with the same conclusion , morabii is a card generator that also requires a combo to have effect that being sayd the card may see play if some other card that synergizes with freeze come out , also i got no idee why Coldwraith was printed as a mage card instead of neutral when they want to introduse freeze archtype and they give shaman Cryostasis WHAT??? , if atleast this card was something like (freeze your minions give them 2/2) or (give frozen minions 2/2 )

Yeah totally agree 3 mana for infinite draw is just to Op if it was something like 5 mana with 3/3 stat line it may be ok .But another Broken card is Keeper Remulos having always 1 extra mana ex playing a 9 mana card and still having mana for hero power ,in druids case we got quite a few 7 and 4 drops.... its just to strong ( now if you play 7 mana card most cases youl end up using 1 hero power and waisting 1 mana ) but with the extra 1 youll never waist any .And im not sure but maybe High Priestess Ishanah is on the overwhelming side also since it says rest of the game so a holy nova not only acts as a aoe its also a ++circle of heal for your own minions its not something id give to BIG PRIEST right now

Like some here , i found that the deck after rank 10 faires poorly in the meta so i made of a few changes towards midgame

like others wrote average on quest 50 maybe 55 and about 5 wins a day or 35 wins/week so
55*30=1650 (from quests) +5wins*30=150wins (500 gold) about 2150 gold just from these 2
if we count a good tavern brawl that is easy and fast to farm /month you could add an extra (3-4day x25 more wins = 330 gold)
So for me its 2150-2480

Depends if you got Prophet Velen then Mind Blast is a better finisher you deal insta 20 dmg with the 2 cards only, having 1 more mana to spare
Recruiter makes you decent board with with 6 minions dealing only 14 for the 10 mana
