Sorry for the delay with the full guide, busy times at work. As it stands I'm unlikely to do the whole write up before Wednesday. Once again apologies for the wait.
Mulligan
Always Keep
Wild Growth - this deck is sometimes referred to as Token-Ramp Druid for a reason. Almost always this is the card you want to play on turn 2.
(Almost) Always Keep
Mire Keeper - as already mentioned you want to ramp with this deck. Unless put against the wall with early aggression turn 2 Wild Growth into turn 3 Mire Keeper is the dream opener.
Situational
Innervate - if you already have Nourish to ramp on turn 3 or possibly 2 if starting with a coin, it depends.
Nourish - if you already have Innervate.
Always vs Aggro
Spreading Plague - this can truly save your ass. Well, at least while it costs 5 mana.
Tar Creeper - a nice solid early game taunt. If facing aggro don't be afraid to follow it up the next turn with Strongshell Scavenger even if it is the only card to be buffed. Vs aggro you don't need to get that much value out of your Stronshell Scavnger and if you don't survive till mid/late game then what's the point of hoarding it.
Wrath - kill some pirates and draw 1, kill Murloc Warleader.
Swipe - would keep as you only have one copy and it truly could come in handy.
Situational vs Aggro
Innervate - assuming you have Spreading Plague. Enjoy it while it lasts, the card is about to become absolute unplayable garbage.
Vs Agrro If you don't have Spreading Plague and Innervate or Tar Creeper
Keep this cards in this particular order starting from most and going on to least preferred.
Druid of the Swarm - it goes without saying that in this match-up you'll usually play it as a taunt.
Power of the Wild - as already mentioned you'll be fine without getting best value out of your buffs in these match-ups, thus playing the card as a Panther is okay and in fact might be necessary in order to ensure survival.
Crypt Lord - again, though in other match-ups you might want to get more value out of the card, vs aggro your first and foremost imperative is to survive the early onslaught.
Always vs Control
Nourish - in these match-ups even without Innervate.
Crypt Lord - there's some small chance you'll get it to spiral out of control early on if your opponent fails to deal with it.
If you want me to write more specific mulligan guides for each of the most prominent decks e.g. Jade Druid, Aggro Druid, Mid-Range Murloc Paladin, Highlander Priest, Big Priest, Pirate Warrior and Deamonlock please don't foregt to say so in the comments.
Updated version of jade druid
It's very telling of the state of the meta that even a budget Druid deck wouldn't dream of running any less than two Ultimate Infestations
I think in his latest iteration of the deck Kolento runs Medivh, Malfurion and Fandral. So yeah, you can view this as a budget version of his deck. I don't hide the fact that I started playing Plague Druid inspired by Kolento, but imo there's nothing wrong with that.
no good!
another jade druid deck, yay!
Are you that big of a troll or are you legit blind? Do you see a single Jade card in this deck? wtf
Very nice deck, thanks!
This is just Kolento's Plague Druid with Malfurion and Fandral swapped for Swipe and Tar Creeper.
I'm not even sold that those are the right swaps.
Yes, it's based on Kolento's Plague Druid.
It shares some characteristics with Token Druid. That is why this archetype in addition to being called Plague Druid is also at times called Token-Ramp Druid.
WEll done nice job , thx for the deck. works for me 5/0.
The Dk is really good for druid in general. 10/10 would craft.
Malfurion is definitely a worthy addition to the deck, Arthas could work well too. Personally, I would put them both in for two copies of Wrath. Especially that we're not running Fandral in the deck.
As to the silences, imo this deck has no need to run them, but if you insist and are looking for a spot to put some in I'd consider replacing Tar Creeper.
I love when it says "low dust" and I still need over 1000 dust to craft it. XD
In all seriousness, the deck does look pretty good, though. And I wouldn't call Spreading Plague "unplayable trash" after the nerf because honestly, it just rounds out your mana curve a little better. +1 if anyone else saw this nerf coming the second this card was revealed.
Well, tbph I consider anything below 3k to be low dust and still anything belo 5k to be affordable. Imo it makes sense to use the term this way with proper control decks costing upwards of 10k.
I did +1 your post though, because indeed I expected this card to be eventually nerfed. I also wouldn't call it unplayable trash after the nerf, but imo it's a significant change and I for one don't plan to play Plague Druid post patch. In fact I'll likely switch to Jade Druid which won't run a single copy of the card.
Thanks! 5K is only affordable for me if it's Shaman or Warrior class, LOL.
Well, there is a viable 5k Warrior deck and it's been there for a while. Some people call it cancer though. xD
Except when it comes to Pirates. Because I have almost nothing for Pirates.
Too bad as I believe it's the only viable warrior atm in Standard.
Uh he's right guys. This is all rares and only 2 epics. This is pretty much what cheap means.
