Since I didn't want to wait for the expansion to drop and only 3 of the cards (which are combo pieces) are actually from BDP I decided to substitute them for cards with equal functionality (scorp-o-matic and Deranged Doctor). However, I soon came to realize that the deck is REALLY weak against aggro (although it fares quite well against slow decks, as to be expected)
Since the meta is usually populated with faster decks (at least on lower ladder) I was thinking about how I could improve the matchup and decided that the Even approach just wasn't going to cut it. So I thought about just using the old Control Warlock deck and hamfist the 6-card package (Mecha'thun, 2x Galvanizer, Bloodbloom, Cataclysm, Keening Banshee)
So what I'm asking for is people who played Ctrllock a lot during Kobolds and pre-nerf Witchwood to post lists they've used or give opinions on what cards to ditch in favour of the Mecha'thun package.
I also thought of using Curse of Weakness, because it yielded some pretty impressive results so far and I'M also considering running Cubes to just double up on the defensive potentials of Void lord (although that might be a bit greedy)
Hoping to get at least a bit of useful feedback, so I don't have to go through the painstaking process of building a control deck entirely from scratch,
So if you can find some even taunts, maybe that's your best bet?
plated beetle and doomsayer are pretty good anti aggro as well so at least they will help. you definitely need that early game taunt thing though dude. maybe like a Stubborn Gastropod would help. not too much health though... that's more for taking out big guys.
you need some even taunts with a lot of health preferably.
hmm even warlock doesn't have much trouble against aggro aslong as you draw your taunts/aoe, kneeing banshee is probably unnecessary just run more healing so you can tap more (like life drinker or more taunts like chain gang or twilight+ taunt giver) the deck doesn't need twisting nether I played with it, and it was rarely useful. scorp-o-matic and deranged doctor are nothing like mechathun xd
also curse of weakness isn't that good, run the drakes instead.. evenlock isn't a control deck but a midrange deck (most cards are on the 4,6,8 slots and are.. midrange minions) just play even lock take out 5 value cards and add the combo that's it with 1 mana hero power you draw your deck quite quickly.
wait he doesn't run mountain giant? why play evenlock if you don't run the flagship card?! jist realized that you must run that card heis the reason rven lock is so good.

it's not an "even lock" he just runs genn to cycle the cards faster. it's not a traditional even lock by any sense. it's a mecha'thun deck.
Now, first things first, i like the idea of evenlock with c'thun. Drawing since turn 1 is a good thing when you want to delete your deck but i think banshee is useless. You will be geting to fatigue 1st anyway against control and against aggro c'thun will never be the reason you win.
I would also remove thalnos, the curses and one siphon soul and would add the 2 dam/2 lifesteal spell, the mountain giants and two spellbreakers. With magnetic coming online i think its suicide to not run double silence.
That's the way I would go if I had to build it. You need lots of 2 drops (low curve in general), not spells, minions preferably, so you can constantly free up the hand and draw cards, not get your combo pieces burnt by naturalize. You need lots of healing for lifetap. It is quite important against lots of heavy decks to cycle as fast a possible.
Well, I'm not that old of a warlock player, but I like how YourPrivatelNightmare built the deck. With some tinkering this could become a lot more consistent.
People are mentioning dropping down some removals and some curses for some Mountain Giants. But imho if OP should include such minions, why not run a typical Evenlock deck instead? I mean - Mecha'thun is a super slow win-condition; Argent Commander and Mountain Giants are better in order to close out games faster, so why not dedicate a big part of the list to actually slow down the opponent and make a new deck-type?
Curse of Weakness - I personally like it here. I always believed, that the purpose of this card was to be used in some kind of warlock combo decks, in order to stall the opponent. Before we didn't have any combo decks where we could use this card (maybe in wild, but I was not familiar with the meta there) and control warlock's game-plan was to destroy the board. I like to view it as Frost Nova. Yes, it's more expensive and some minions can still attack if buffed (except those with a negative Attack), but it has potential in this deck.
Spellbreaker as techs, but dunno. I would concentrate on surviving first and then adding some techs.
Inb4 I don't know if weapons will count as cards on the battlefield. If not, then your other deck seems more consistent/powerful, as you can also add more healing cards like Rotten Applebaum.
Hey there
So I was trying to make a Mecha'thun Warlock deck work.
Since I didn't want to wait for the expansion to drop and only 3 of the cards (which are combo pieces) are actually from BDP I decided to substitute them for cards with equal functionality (scorp-o-matic and Deranged Doctor). So far I'm only certain about losing Rin, the First Disciple (for obvious reasons), Gnomeferatu (if those were even commonly run in the first placle) and Stonehill Defender (since there's no need for value).
I also thought of using Curse of Weakness, because it yielded some pretty impressive results so far and I'M also considering running Cubes to just double up on the defensive potentials of Void lord (although that might be a bit greedy)

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
taunts. Tar Creeper and Stonehill Defender are bane of aggro decks, especially if they don't have Void Ripper or Mossy Horror of course this would mess up the even lock side of it.
So if you can find some even taunts, maybe that's your best bet?

I think it would be really beneficial to drop both copies of the Curse of Weakness and throw 2 copies of Mountain Giant as well as dropping Bloodmage Thalnos and Keening Banshee for 2 Sunfury Protector.

I know why you put banshee girl in there, but you'll want a Mountain Giant more almost every time.
This space is intentionally blank.

Who dares to summon me???

Done.
