I think echo mage is a pretty fun deck, not bad on ladder either
What is a really good echo Mage deck? I was searching now and they really do differ from each other.. Like some of them utilize exposive ships, some don't.. Same for effigy, unstable portal and so on. Which one to use for laddering?
This is my list and it's a charm to play. You can add a Sylvanas for one of the belchers if you want.
Malylock- Super strong deck that can hit legend, and no one expects the 25 damage god combo- Thaurrissan on Malygos, 2 dark bombs, and a soulfire. Generally you only use 1 dark bomb and one soul fire for 17 damage, but still fun all the same.
Renolock is my current favorite. I played a lot of handlock so I already liked the deck, but the Reno version is more fun due to the many different cards in the deck.
Here is what I wrote down under my uploaded deck. It is a lot of text, that's why I won't write it all over again, I hope you understand this :D
Hey [censored user name], thanks for the feedback. You put up some very interesting and most importantly fitting questions. I'll try to answer them as good as possible:
1. Why include the Mana Wyrms and Violet Teacher with only 4 spells in the deck, though?
The deck's state is not final at all, I am honest about that. Earlier on, I used a more stable version of this deck, but it had less synergy in regard to the Token thingy. I included a Flamestrike instead of Saraad, put in another Belcher, ran two Frostbolts, one Fireball and one Echo of Medivh. Also, I used one Counterspell at times and ran Antonidas. That makes up to 6 more spells. Those were enough in order to almost always have synergy with Mana Wyrm or Violet Teacher. Later, I changed up the deck radically a few times to try different cards out. The cards you mentioned remained in this deck as a relict of earlier experiments. When I have more time, I'll refine this deck a bit more and post a new version. Until that, I'll tentatively put in two Frostbolts instead of one Wyrm and one Teacher.
2. I get that to make an Inspire deck work well, we need Coldarra Drake, so it should be a Mage class, but aren't there better Mage-specific cards to use instead?
Instead of the Coldarra Drake? Even though the Drake is really solid, there are, indeed - but look... My goal is to include many rarely played cards (e.g. Imp Master) and make them work together. I want to have fun with this deck above all, refining to ladder as best as possible will come later. Additionally, the inspire part of this deck is actually quite small, more of a bonus tactic. The deck predominantly focuses on the Token synergy. Heck, you must even say that the Mage class is not the best suited one for a Token deck, just look at the Paladin. For example, I built a Paladin deck which focuses on exactly that and it is competitive. I reached Rank 5 with it the last two seasons (I uploaded it as well). I am still thinking about putting more weight into the Inspire thematic as the Mage has some solid cards in that regard and about making this deck more competitive by adding some "usual" staple cards at the expense of the uniqueness of this deck.
3. How have your results been with it thus far?
I won a tad over 50% of the games I played with this deck. Most of those games were not on Ranked. The games on Ranked I played with this were on quite low ranks where it performed ok. Against face/aggro decks this deck loses often if your opponent knows when to trade and when attack directly into your face, but this actually is not often the case, as they'll let your minions survive more often than not - e.g. Imp Master. When this is the case, you can come back. Still, those decks are the most certainly the hardest to play against as you lack heal. Against Control and Midrange decks it depends on whether you can build up a solid board and/or your opponent draws into AoE. Actually, it can be said that - and that is the biggest advantage and drawback of this certain deck - when your opponent knows what he faces and plays accordingly, you most certainly lose. On the other side, you win, when your opponent lets you do your thing and ignores and underestimates your minions (as he doesn't exactly have a clue what he faces), so you can get a devastating board really fast in order to win the game immediately in 1-2 turns. I don't like this - it means you depend on your opponent and not on your plays sometimes. That means the deck is simply not good enough yet. I am the first to admit that. But I will try to change that fact.
Oil Rogue and Freeze Mage. For Oil, you're almost always behind and it takes a mega turn of Teacher, and 3-4 to comeback. It feels pretty satisfying playing a deck that is more than just dropping cards by the mana cost.
I enjoy Control priest and Ramp druid (no it's not just about taunting) a lot The current deck i'm really enjoying is tempo mage despite that it could be really unfair for both players.
After playing about 100 games with freeze mage, it is by far my favorite deck in hearthstone. I can't believe I actually went a year without really trying it out. I can't go back to the normal just drop minions and trade decks, I really hope the hearthstone team realizes they need more flavor in their card game. They talk about hating decks like freeze mage, when in reality, we need more decks that have spectacular win conditions.

Thanks for the deck list. Played a variant of that a while ago. Good times
Reno Warlock. I made my own version, but it taking forever to make a guide for it.
I find this Token Mage deck quite fun to play:
Def gonna try that token Mage. Thanks
How did it go?
Freeze Priest yo!

I love Control Warrior and Grinder Mage. The strategy behind going to fatigue and playing for the super-long game is my favorite.

...not so well. Got WRECKED
