So many players seem to only want the good decks to be nerfed. They lose against a good deck and it's all "That deck is OP, NERF IT NOW."
In my opinion, the game would benefit more from buffing the Witchwood expansion. We all know the power level of WW is fairly low, of course that being amplified in our minds since Kobolds was so influential. Whether they're planning a new start for Hearthstone or something, a little increase in power could go a long way. Instead of nerfing the top tier decks, what if we had better WW cards that could just add more competition to the meta?
To me at least, it would be great to just buff some cards and allow more decks to be made that can compete against Cubelock, Aggro Pally, etc. Now I'm not saying I have the perfect solution but just off the top of my head, how about make Emeriss cost 9 mana? It could buff a charging boar hit with Dire Frenzy and attack the same turn.
I'm not even sure lol I just wish more thought was put into buffs rather than just nerfing everything. Now nothing is set in stone yet so I'm hoping they don't kill everything, but add some power for new decks, who knows!
100% support the idea: Stop nerfing, bring in solutions to compete with the overpowered decks (Regretfully WW didn't do that at all... to the contrary...)
As nice as that would be, people voice their concerns to nerf cards because they know the developers almost never buff cards. I can't remember them ever actually buffing cards in the last couple years except for the most recent Molten Giant change, and it moved to wild soon afterwards anyways. EDIT: I guess also Naga Sea Witch's buff, though that was more of a mechanic fix that ended up buffing the card. And they are nerfing it again anyways.
"Almost all card changes are nerfs, weakening cards that are considered to be too strong. The developers are strongly resistant to simply 'buffing' or improving 'bad' cards, although broader changes such as the introduction of new minion types can act as a buff to certain cards. [6][7][8][9][10][11]"
So since they never really buff cards, people ask them to nerf decks. Yes, I agree it might be nice to see some cards get altered to see play and bring around new decks, but constant buffs also just create more and more powerful decks, which become a problem when they need to add new expansions that can interact with the other cards and not just get drown out by all the overpowered ones. By nerfing cards, new expansions can be more unique without having to constantly up the level of quality of cards.
Its probably too late (and too hopeful) for Blizzard to change their balance strategy. Companies may only nerf, only buff, or a combo of the two. I think its easier to nerf cards, as you can see what clearly needs nerf (only a select few cards). Whereas in buffing, theres hundreds of cards that can be buffed, and I am not sure of a fair way that would please everyone. Which cards deserves buffs, ones that really suck or ones that would make a higher impact on the meta? Its quite tricky, but I think consistency is key for balance. Blizzard has chosen the nerf route, although I am sure everyone would appreciate quicker nerfs, I think its not terrible that they chose this way.
In my opinion. A lot cards should get a buff, especially some legendaries from ww.
Also, Uther dk hero power is really bad, Rogue spellstone is useless (could have been 'Play 3 card this turn to upgrade'), Dorian should cost 4*, priest weapon is a joke....
If u make buffs only it makes the game faster and faster.
Usually a game is over on turn 5..
Imo, ist time to raise Players HP to 40.
I'm not sure about raising it to 40. Most games right now take around 3-15 minutes, with exceptions of course. And I think I like being able to play many more shorter games. It also makes it easier for casual players to get wins, finish quests, and make gold in less amount of time. Changing the HP to 40 will completely change the game, making matches significantly longer, and pushing control and OTK decks even more. Overall, players would see less play since it would be much more time consuming. It might make for more interesting and thoughtful games, but it would also kill a lot of the charm for casual players since it would take so much more time. There are plenty of more complicated and longer card games to play if you want that, and I personally don't think Hearthstone needs to move that way, or at least not that drastically. Pushing towards longer games and control decks with card changes is fine, but adding that much more HP would be insane.
The problem of the game is that the win conditions are far too powerful. Buffs to other decks would make this even worse. It is not fun that you can't win games anymore if the deck starts rolling, this is gone from the game since MSG. Before that the win conditions were not broken and good players would wreck every bad player simply because they could turn around games. This is practically impossible now.
As much as I am fine with them buffing cards that have never seen play in all the years they have been around (especially in the basic set for new players, although the recent appearance of Raid Leader and Stormwind Champion in odd pally shows even this is a bit risky), I think they should on no accountreplace nerfs with buffs.
The purpose of nerfs is to bring cards (but more importantly decks) back to an acceptable power level. Sure if you take one overpowered deck away another will fill its place, but that deck will almost always be weaker than the nerfed one was.
If instead you buff cards to bring all classes to the same power level, what you are actually doing is raising single archetypes in each class to that level, leaving most decks untouched and expediting power creep, making it even worse for new players or those who just don't want to play the meta decks. At the moment people are fed up with mana cheating cards, and buffing others doesn't deal with that at all.
I like the idea of buffing cards instead of nerfing them, there's just one problem with it right now: If you buff cards games will end (EVEN) faster. - There would probably pop up some deck like Aggro Shaman/Huntertaker/Pirate Warrior again that can end the game way too fast without any real interaction when they get a decent draw which is unhealthy.
It would be a good rule to follow for future balance changes though. :)
Ya, buff Emeriss to 9-mana. That way it would mean a 50% chance to get a 12/12 10-drop with Spiteful Summoner. That would certainly be popular ;).
On a serious note, I don't think the WW needs to be buffed. We have had enough powercreep in the game so dialing back a bit is just healthy. The problem is instead that certain decktypes (like Quest Rogue and sometimes Cubelock) restrict the meta far more than other decks do which restricts what types of decks are viable. By nerfing the decks that restrict deckbuilding the most it opens up the meta so that more decks become playable which in turn brings in more of the new cards.
I think the problem is, nerfing a single or a few cards lowers the power level of the problematic deck as a whole. To buff cards to even things out, you'd have to buff more than a few cards for either neutrals or ALL of the weaker classes so they don't struggle/out right lose to certain deck types

this would only buff cubelock and even paladin. they don't win by rushing you down, they win by controlling the board and finishing you once you have used up your resources to respond
Instead of refreshing the game by nerfing core cards and arriving at new top decks in this way, the solution should be to embrace constant powercreep? Doesn't seem to be a good solution in my opinion. I prefer nerfing.

The man, the myth, the Legend.
(wait, I've only gotten rank 2, not legend)

It even states it on https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Card_changes#Decisions and gives a bunch of instances where the designers clearly state that they don't like to buff cards.

Something else super strong will just take the top deck's place as usual and then people will cry about those decks, this isn't anything new.

While i agree to buff forgotten cards, that's no solution to fix a meta crystallized around too few too good solutions, with nearly zero bad matchups.
Also, if you buff enough to overcome the current t1, you just obtain a new t1 or a tS, which is again no solution at all.
PS: the powerlevel of ww may be low, but in fact the problem is that the powerlevel of KaC was too high, and needlessly so.

Ok for some buffs but also nerfs for warlock, pala and Naga. They are too op.
They should buff some Classic cards like Illidan or Hogger. Right now, after 4 years of cards, they have a low power level.
People don't understand game design, the thread
I tried having fun once. It was awful.

You can't stop the signal.
We might need buffs
Are we suppose to play Carrion Drake? (Holy crap poor Hunter)
Ghost Light Angler Mistwraith?
Quartz Elemental? Snap Freeze? Gloom Stag?
Witchwood only has maybe 12 good cards right now.
But more importantly FIX CLASSIC AND BASIC! Give every class a core of support for multiple decks.
