I don't really like nerfing old cards, that have been around for a long time and they were perfectly fine, just because they are incapable to make new balanced cards. They should nerf Shudderwock itself.
I think Grumble, Worldshaker is the problem. Perhaps make it a "When it enters the Battlefield from anywhere" effect and not a Battlecry. It shuts down the OTK but it's not fun to play and not fun to play against. Grumble would be replaced by Zola And it wouldn't be so oppressive. Grumble would be a little worse but I think it would be the lowest possible impact.
If you nerf Saronite Chain Gang, then he won't keep any handbuffs, which is a nerf to that already not played archetype, and people would just use Doppelgangster (in wild).
To make the token copy not have a hand/deck buff compared to having infinite copies of an OTK minion is a pass in my book. Both cards would remain playable and viable.
A 3/4 +2/3 in Prince Keleseth decks. Still x2 ticks in Quest Warrior.
To end an infinite battlecry affect which is generally an One Turn Kill play anyways. It's not fun to play against, its too easy to play with. There is no middle currently. Sacrifice a possible 3/4 token for it would be fine lol.
There is no need for nerf or wording change, deck is way below even 50% winrate atm. What they need to do is just speed up the animation and let your hero explode instanly once you'r dead, instead of watching whole animation sequence.
Honestly, whenever someone plays Shudderwock, I just concede. I'm not about to let my opponent rob me of 20 minutes of my life. Seriously, it takes FOREVER.
I feel like, in a game where you can't play cards during your opponent's turn, OTK's like this shouldn't exist. At least MTG has counterspells, and Elder Scrolls: Legends has prophecy.
Shudderwock should just be a massive value generator, no more, no less.
The reason i dont think changing Lifedrinker to a deathrattle will work is because Nightblade is a thing. Not nearly as good, but lets be real, they'll still use it.
Changing Lifedrinker will only result in people switching to Nightblade. My suggestion would be an adjustment to Murmuring Elemental, by making its effect a deathrattle, or, if the card is to be utterly destroyed, it would probably read "The first battlecry during your turn triggers twice", or something.

However, i could be wrong.
Deathrattle doesnt work either. People will just switch to something like Leper Gnome
They should just change saronite text to "Battlecry: Summon another Saronite Chain Gang" and also change the text on doppelgangster to avoid the infinite battlecry on wild too. Problem solved without destroying any cards with nerfs.

The reason Blizzard printed those cards was to enable Hand Buff decks. Changing those cards to say that would mean hand buffs would no longer work with them.

No, here you misunderstand something: This would be changed not as he said above, instead it would be changed:
Then when you play Shudderwock, and he don't have any buffs yet, it would simply summon a Saronite Chain Gang/Doppelgangster with 6/6 stats. If it has buffed itself, then it would also gain this buff.
But it would no longer create a copy of Shudderwock, instead it would create a copy of above mentioned cards.
Remember when they change the formula of Coke to New Coke. It was a disaster. The backlash was swift and even 80's legend Bill Cosby couldn't keep it afloat. Coke had to create Coca-Cola Classic in shame. Now when they change the recipe for a food (pop-tarts, Digorno pizza, Hostess) they don't tell you. Why am I saying this? What could this possibly have to do with the game?
They intentionally did that so they could stop using real sugar in coke without anyone getting upset because everyone was to happy about "Classic Coke" coming back to notice
I think thet should actually make it similar to rexxar dk where some cards r exempted. So basically some cards battlecries wont be replayed at all such as grumble

Lifedrinker is perfectly fine as is. Saronite Chain Gang is perfectly fine. But its wording of copy is abused by Shudderwock in a way I don't think T5 saw coming.

"If this was not played from your hand, transform into a legendary 2/2 frog with taunt."
Problem solved...kind of. Still pretty busted for jades. Making it difficult to return to your hand is important, though.
Just played against this deck. The animation takes forever. There's no stopping the entire thing. Not even the timer goes off. Ridiculous.
Yes, I really am a woman.

It's just another loser deck played by the wankers of HS. Nothing new here.
Hello!
Dude, Shudderwock doesn’t work with deathrattles lmao

Somethings are just worth fighting for.

shudderwock isnt the problem the problem is grumble.
