It's not a "Toast's deck" just because he plays it. I theoricrafted it the same day Shudderwock was leaked spending several hours polishing the deck and removing all inconsistensies and weak spots from it. Though I didn't know at that time about Lifedrinker and Sandbinder and tweaked the deck after the final card dump. Right now I have a unique list with a couple of ideas which nobody else uses and nevertheless I don't shout at every corner that this deck is "mine", so please, don't call a deck "someone's deck" if he or she cleary did not invent it.
Right now, I think the shudderwok battlecry should just be animated differently. Shudderwok should let out a cry, cut the screen in half, turn your screen black, then reload your screen with the effect of whatever happened after it was played.
Like, something weird, something creepy, something that doesn't take 10 minutes to animate. Then when that's fixed, we can actually see if the card is op and adjust accordingly.
99.999999% Shudderwock is last card in deck. Maybe it's just my RNG or something. But, most games I play with it.. it is usually at the end of the deck. Making the card pretty much useless to me.
The only change that should be made (if they change anything at all) is to in some way decrease the animation time. OTK decks are a completely acceptable type of deck. There was nothing wrong with the existence of quest mage (or any of its variants), there is nothing wrong with the existence of this deck (or any of its variants).

lol my bad, wasn't trying to be like that. I just saw the video of Toast first on launch day and didn't really hear much of a racket until the day of.

-It's better to have something you don't need, than to need something you don't have
As a Shaman main I love this card but I can agree it's broken af. I like option 2 in the OP. Saronite battlecry shouldn't summon another Shudderwock. That's just dumb. This is like Yogg-Saron on steroids, and I hated Yogg.
Good to see Shaman love from the devs but it's a bit much.
I've played against varients of Shudderwock decks using my "hand druid" deck. Always won because I tend to beat them before they can pull off their combo. Even though I've never lost to a Shudderwock deck, I can tell it's a pretty annoying problem, mostly with the animations. A few things I could suggest to fix Shudderwock is:
1. Speed up animations (of course)
2. Change the battlecry to: Discover TWO battlecries you've played this game (cast them on random targets)
This may be hitting him with the nerf hammer too hard but with murmuring elemental, you can still potentially do: copy this minion, life drinker, grumble, and whatever fourth battlecry you decide to have. But it will slow down how many shudderwocks one can have in hand and cut down the amount of animation by a lot.
Aaaand you get murmuring elemental back so you can keep doing those 4 discoveries lol. This is more of an animation nerf (and testing of how fast you can choose the right battlecries)
Most of the other suggestions people made here are pretty valid. However, remember: Shudderwock's battlecry does work like Yogg. If he gets transformed before the end of his battlecry, it ends there. This can be seen in Amaz's video "Streamer Wars VS Dog! Witchwood Edition".
How is your Hand Druid working on the ladder btw?
It's just the default deck that Blizzard has already crafted for us. I can get to rank 19 with 5 stars but every single time there is an elemental mage, dude paladin or a stupid warlock deck at the end that pushes me all the way back down to rank 19 with 2 stars.
I'm holding strong at rank 19 but I don't think I'm gonna get any higher.
my last game as control lock was vs shudderwock shaman. not a big deal really, even control can facerace him. but i had Rin, and destroy his deck on turn 10. he has all of his combo pieces but lifesucker. so he decided just to waste my time and slowly SLOOOOOOOOWLY die to fatigue. each turn was like 5-8 mins and he did it 5-6 times, waste about 40 mins of my (and his) life. ofc i won in the end and got my goddamn rank 6, and i didnt really spent my time gazing my smartphone screen, once in a while checked it and put some voidlord on table
but only fact that shaman can do this and keep people in game FOR HOURS really piss me
It's always important to first make a case that a given card is actually broken, rather than simply assuming that it is. The deck is currently the 24th best among all the decks tracked by HSReplays - it has a win-rate of 41% after about half-a-million games played, and is performing slightly better than Quest Hunter. Needless to say, no one is complaining about Queen Carnassa . . .
I'm not entirely certain what the complaint is meant to be - while the deck is currently the most popular on ladder, it has abysmal match-ups against the seven next most-played decks, with win-rates ranging from 21% to 41%. Among the twenty most-played decks, Shudderwock has five favourable match-ups, with the best win-rate sitting at a modest 55% - in other words, no one seems to be piloting any sort of deck which has any legitimate difficulty beating the Shudderwock deck quite consistently. The deck doesn't appear to come close to dominating anything which anyone is playing, and it gets hard-countered by more than half a dozen popular decks. Yet people are losing their shit over the card.
Presumably, the popularity of the deck is simply a matter of the ladder not yet adjusting to its poor performance. It seems reasonable to expect that a correction will likely occur, soon.
Are people simply jumping on the Disguised Toast bandwagon? What is the honest complaint regarding the card, and the deck?
This is NOT a NERF to Shudderwock or any card but Saronite Chain Gang in Keleseth decks. It's a nerf to an OTK combo. Both cards would be playable and viable in many different decks.
The Battlecry chain is too long. The combo pieces for OTK are too easy for a one turn win condition.
I think the easiest fix for our issue is changing the wording on Saronite Chain Gang;
Battlecry: from "summon a copy of this minion"
to
"summon a 2/3 taunt token".
Therefore not allowing Shudderwock to copy himself, and therefore not allowing him to trigger again. He would drop multiple 2/3 taunt tokens in exchange (if he hits the Murmuring Elemental effect prior to Saronite Chain Gang). This also wouldn't effect Chain Gang used in other decks like Quest Warrior.
The remaining combo would be multiplied battlecries; cheaper elemental costs, fetch an elemental, return your minions they cost 1, deal 3 damage to opponent and gain 3 life.
We would be removing the OTK I believe, by not having another Shudderwock firing off 3 damage / 3 lifesteal repetitively and flooding board with 6/6 bodies. Yet Shudderwock himself would remain viable and fun to play with and against.
"I have seen worlds bathed in the Makers' flames, their denizens fading without as much as a whimper. Entire planetary systems born and razed in the time that it takes your mortal hearts to beat once. Yet all throughout, my own heart devoid of emotion... of empathy. I. Have. Felt. Nothing. A million-million lives wasted. Had they all held within them your tenacity? Had they all loved life as you do?"
I don't llike this change, if u want to nerf the combo i think making it slower is the way to go something like making lifedrinker a 7 mana or 8.
7 or 8 mana for 3/3 minion with borderline garbage battlecry? I don't think so.
But I like the OP suggestions of changing Saronite Chain Gang text. It won't affect any other decks. It won't make the card completely garbage, but it will affect this broken combo.

How does it look like ?
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
There is already a topic about this. Please use the search option, I think lots of people are getting a bit tired of the Shudderwock threads .....

sorry for bad engrish
Maybe put a limit on the number of battlecries? Maybe 5?

I like your Idea, it would stop this OTK Shit that we would face for a whole year and let ppl think about making other cool shaman decks
and nerfing handbuff? Naw naw mate, just make it half the battlecries, chosen randomly

yeah a 7-8 mana 3/3
you clearly haven't played the game enough to make advice on how to nerf cards.
They aren't going to change any cards, it will fix itself on its own in a short time.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
why nerf something that is going to consistently lose to cubelock anyways?
