I saw 3/3 and the effect and I was like "Meh, there are enough net good shaman spells that this will be pretty good." Then I saw 8 (!!) mana cost and I decided this is hot trash.
Kind of lame that this is a shaman card. This card will basically always give an AoE that is always targetting the enemy field. It will be funny when there is a lava burst to the face for lethal though. :D
I'm begging for there to be some epic shaman card that allows you to lock in a permanent spell for Discover choice, or a freeze spell that is always a discover choice etc, might make finders keepers playable too in moorabi. That's the only hope i have :,,(
The fact that it's a discover that procs three times means it might be okay-ish. Being able to devolve or clear the board a couple of times could be useful if Shaman gets some better late game threats.
It seems like this is meant for a control Shaman but I don't think Shaman currently has the early game to support that style of deck. Maybe this will be okay if shaman gets more powerful expensive spells and some very cheap ones to help survive the early game? 8 mana is still a lot though...
You know a card is bad when even Kibler can't find something good to say about it. In the stream Kibler transitioned as quickly as he could away from this card after the dev was finished trying to make this card not seem ridiculously terrible.
It's almost like Blizzard said "How do we make Fiery War Axe not seem bad post nerf"?
I don't think this is as bad as people think it is. Not saying it's good, of course. It's going to be bad not due to the spell randomness, but more just because at 8 mana it's so slow, you can't be doing 3 damage (plus a prayer) and not develop anything at 8 mana. This is why Piranha Launcher and Brass Knuckles failed... the value is there over X many turns, but it's so weak that first turn it just can't work, you fall too far behind.
As for the random spells, it's not as bad as you think. 15 of 35 Shaman spells are targeted (give or take). 15 of the non-targeted ones are good to great (albeit sometimes situational, like Volcano or Evolve). It's basically a coin flip if you get a good spell vs a RNG one for each choice, and you have 3 choices. Basically, you're looking at a 85% each swing will result in at least one good spell for you. The issue, of course, is whether you want that spell.... If you're behind on the board and you get Evolve, Rockbiter Weapon and Spirit Echo, well, that sucks... all good spells but you wanted Lightning Storm or Feral Spirit.
In the end, won't see play not because of the spell randomness, but because it just doesn't work. If you're behind, it's too little tempo and too unreliable to get you back in the game. If you're ahead, there's so many better options at 8 mana than doing 3 damage and then possibly screwing things up due to RNG. Should have been a 4/3.
I'm a bit more optimistic about this card than most, though it's going to be bad in a weapons heavy meta. Tortallan primalist is... Well, it's not good in constructed, but actually pretty decent in arena, because discovering a spell and casting it is really good, even with random targets. If you can get 3 spells off of this weapon, I think it pays for itself.
The issue is the massive loss of tempo if you whiff on the first spell, and the probable prevalence of weapon removal in this meta. If Harrison jones becomes common, this card is awful, but if there's some weird state where nobody plays weapons or removal because of an overreaction to weapon removal early in the meta, this card could be pretty good.

Ploz, <sniff> for the lub of doc...
Each class gets 2 legendaries, and a legendary weapon.
Too slow and predictable... might be fun for memes but a bad card... so probably the free weapon I am going to get stuck with!

If it's good, people will rant and it will get nerfed. (Remember Yogg-Saron?)
If it's bad, people will rant because Blizzard printed a bad legendary.
Either way, it wasn't very wise of Blizzard to paint themselves into this no-win corner.

There is going to be a really big Shaman spell coming.
Too add salt to injury, you still get overloaded when casting like with yogg.
'i crafted harrison to fuck up these leggo weapons' 'jokes on you i got the shaman weapon'.
i swear if this is the only legendary i pull from this set i'm going to rage quit
If Shaman gets a "Destroy all enemy minions" spell then this is worth it. Otherwise the card would be printable at 6 or 7 mana— 8 is just overcosted.

8 mana 3/3 then take lava burst to face
the "random target" part completely ruined this card
Tortollan Primalist
we all know how this card turned out, with this weapon be any different??
This space is intentionally blank.

Maybe Malkorok see play now with so many legendary weapons?
