The problem isn't C'Thun, but the fact that the other three old gods are sub par, to say the least. It would be nice to see all the old gods facing each other in battle, but all we see is C'Thun versus C'Thun decks, that share a lot of the same cards. I's a mirror match even if you're facing a different class.
Eventually someone will figure out a really good N'Zoth and then maybe we'll see two old gods in action, more frequently.
Personnaly, I've been playing a Y'Shaarj ramp druid. It's been fun, but I don't see that card working outside of druid and warrior.
N'Zoth is pretty much C'Thun's counter, as far as I have seen it. Putting Sylvannas, Tyrion, Corrupted Healbot, Cairne and more back in table makes it no problem at all if you wanna throw your C'Thun at me. And the best part? Probably by this time you'll already have used up most of your decent board clears, though if you DO manage to clear it, oh man, they are all deathrattle.
Really enjoying this new format/set. Running N'zoth rogue and paladin right now with some INSANE results. Allbeit at rank 11 but im enjoying myself. Going Yogging later probably. :)
This is a rant about C'Thun? If you can make it up to around rank 7 today, which is like legend in the future, you will rarely see C'Thun decks. Shaman and Zoo and simply too op, and personally I play Tempo Mage, which eats C'Thun decks. IMO the best old god is N'Zoth, the Corruptor by a longshot.
C'Thun itself is fine. It's that ALL his support cards are power creep. There's no reason to not even include them in a deck if you dont play C'Thun. Twilight Elder is like the best 3 mana body you can get. Why play anything else?
I agree C'thun decks are kind of boring and everyone is playing it, but it is a temporary situation.
People want to try new good decks and the easiest one to make is C'thun. Very soon the meta stabilizes and we going to see everyday someone asking for Shaman nerf...
Bs, Nzoth is not that good, Cthun is linear good and all his minions are freaking powercreeps almost.
1/4 Taunt for 2 that gives Cthun taunt
2/3 that buffs cthun by 2
3/4 for 3 that buffs Cthun every turn
Add that Arrakoa, Shieldbearer and +10 life Priest that is just dumb, not to mention Twin Emps and synergies with Brann on almost every card.
Cthun decks are cancer, play completely linear and are usually decided when Cthun is played thanks to all the minions before being generally cost efficient.
Imho they need to nerf Cthun basestats by 2 as an indirect nerf to Twin Emperor and the other 10 stat check class minions.
Then they need to reduce the 10 armor to maybe 5 armore and the 10 life to 6 life.
I am so glad you don't work for Blizzard. Hearthstone would be terrible if you were in charge of balancing it.
I've just been playing Astral druid. Could more than likely improve the list, but I've been crushing all C'thun decks that have come along. Only real aggro decks I've struggled against are Face Shaman and Divine Shield Paladin. Not tier 1 by any means, but i'm finding the expansion real fun so far!
Someon actually plays that 1/4 C'Thun taunt minion? I though it was total garbage since people are going to use removal on C'Thun anyways. Plus, it makes C'Thun weak to Black Knight.

People who refuses to play aggro out of principle are even worse than people who play exclusively aggro.
One should seek to become a complete player and play all archetypes, including ones that he despises for whatever irrational reasons.
Seriously a pointlessly overpowered edition that EVERYONE gets for FREE!!! I've had countless games that are actually good back and forth and as soon as C'Thun shows up, that's it. If his initial attack doesn't kill you, the overpowered, unrestricted minion (with taunt) will!!!!! It's total BS. Drop him into the wild on release!!!
It would make a lot more sense to make him a minion that deals damage equal to it's attack power and can't, itself attack. Or you have to remove all your other minions from play...or discard your hand, or your deck....there is NO disadvantage to using him!!!! Even his complimentary minions are powerful as hell!!! At least make all the suppliment cards 1/1 or something. The whole concept is completely broken and is making casual just irritating. Thankfully, nobody is using them in ranked....but ranked is just pay for play now, and if you don't have every legendary and epic card you can't get past 19.
Sad part is...the only people playing him are complete newbs and you can work a great strategy and get destroyed in one turn. It's like giving a 3 year old a machine gun!!!

Completely false, you can't even put more than 30 legendaries in a single deck, and no serious deck has ever used more than ~10. I think Tempo Warrior uses about 3 legendaries, and Zoolock and Aggro Shaman use none

First, how is that any different from what OTK decks do? Second, if that happens, apparently your strategy wasn't so great, because C'Thun decks aren't tier 1, which is because other t1, t2 and even t3 strategies can win it.
No, giving a 3 year old a machine gun is a bad thing because (s)he can't use it correctly and can potentially harm someone. Since that is what guns are designed to do, in Hearthstone it would be equivalent to a deck winning games. Harming people is a bad thing, but winning a game in Hearthstone isn't.
I couldn't agree more, C'thun is overall a flat card. All you have to do is type in "C'thun" in the search bar in the collection, paste all the cards you see into your deck, then put finishing touches on it. And bam! A C'thun deck is made. Whenever my opponent plays Beckoner Of Evil on turn 2, I mentally slap myself knowing the pathetic, flat deck that will soon defeat me on turn 10, so I rather rush his face before turn 10, or simply wish C'thun is at the bottom of the deck.

That's how you make a terrible C'Thun deck. People who aren't at Rank 25 will know to leave the more pathetic cards out, just like I said 2 months ago a few posts up.

Kinda makes me laugh how this was a serious thread when Old Gods was released. Fishing for one minion in a deck never works 100% of the time and even if you draw him it's far from guaranteeing you the win.
3/4 of the C'thun up cards costs less than a similar minion without abilities. Check through all cards for similar minions then below (excl legends).
4 mana: 4/2 & divine shield & 2+2 cthun 3 mana: 2/1 & deal 2 damage & 2+2 cthun 8 mana: 7/9 & 2+2 cthun & put in deck if dead 7 mana: 6/8 & taunt & 3+3 cthun
The worst cards are the whenever cthun has more then 10/10 cards. Combine them with 2x battlecries and you've got eather 2 emperors for 6 mana with 4/6 & taunt, or restore 2x 10 hp to your hero (nearly reno jackson), gain 2x 10 armor.
This is not all as I probably forgot a couple, but the only cthun up card which is not completely op is 2 mana 2/3 + 2+2 cthun, but still very strong for 2 mana.
It would make it a lot better if C'thun stats are 0/0 or if all upgrade cards costs +1 mana. It would still be a good deck, but not as op as it is now.
Not eve mentioning that creating such a deck can be done by a 3 yr old who's just learned the alphabet

Oh no, combos that are stronger than individual cards.

Why was this thread revived after almost 5 months? It was largely for when TOG came out and cthun decks were everywhere. A lot of what is stated in this is false- 3 mana for a 2/1 sucks... even with 2/2 to cthun, the only slight playability is for 2 damage which gets extremely beat by 3/3 3 mana from rogue that when combo-ed does 2 damage.
Why was this thread revived after almost 5 months?
Well, I don't know why this revived, but it was in the right time. So we can link this thread to people shitting their pants and crying in foruns because Pirate warrior, jade Druid, etc. and tell them: "6 months ago people was retarded about c'thun decks too, and the only one that survived was Cthun warrior, and it wasn't even tied one, so chill out"

Unstable portal -> Servant of Yogg-Saron -> Brawl -> Servant wins with opponent's board full. Never Lucky

People who aren't playing Cthun are playing zerg/zoo decks, or they are playing yogg or n'zoth decks.
Beat them before turn 10 then drop Mana Wraith
