Sup people. I like playing control paladin, and have the core cards for a control deck. I am missing some cards for the buff-quest paladin variant, and would like to know the opinion of people that play this deck to know if it worthwhile to craft what I am missing and what to cut.
I know the deck is not tier 1-2, im looking to have fun.
Im missing:
- the quest
- primalfin champions (2)
- zola
- banker(s)
So, which of this cards would you craft or not bother crafting?
Well Zola the Gorgon is pretty much only ran to get bonus Lynessas and bonus Galvadons, so if you don't have the quest it's not as strong to craft Zola in my opinion, same thing for bankers as it's basically the same concept.
As for the quest, it's just not that great and while yeah it creates a big scary minion, Galvadon often doesn't actually win the game by itself unless you adapt the nuts. However you can't really have the whole quest aesthetic without Galvadon and it's also really fun to build-a-dinosaur.
Primalfin Champion is a really strong card though once you can land the buffs (and avoid the silences) on it, so I'd recommend making atleast one, if not two. The card is not strong on curve, but easily earns a ton of value if gone unnoticed, which it doesn't really do, but it is good at wasting silences so your Lynessa and Galvadon go free.
Because of all these factors (and assuming that you want to have fun instead of winning more consistently), I would rate the cards as (in no particular order)...
Well, if you're going to play Quest Paladin...you should probably have the Quest hehe :P
As for the copy-makers, IMO you'd be better off with Zola the Gorgon instead of the Bankers. In-hand is a lot more immediately useful - you might never see the deck copies - and two Bankers would feel like overkill.
The Primalfins are nice enough for cycling spells (and further boosting Lynessa as a result), but I wouldn't consider them "OMG must have!" cards. You can get away without them.
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
Primalfin Champion never, NEVER works out for me when I run it.
It's just so slow and bad on its own. You never actually find a good scenario to play it.
I did have some dude spam me with Primalfin Champion and Desperate Stand (infinite loop), which was freakin' hilarious. He later played like 6 Lynessa Sunsorrows, which increased the hilarity tenfold. In the end, I crushed him, but man it was funny.
I played a lot of Quest Pally during Kobolds, and for me, it just wasn't fun unless I was playing Wild, where Zephyr was MVP. I've seen the new cards that support the quest but I lost too many games with it in the last months to feel like trying again. Maybe later when I'm done experimenting new decks.
As said above, Primalfin Champion sucks on its own because it never survives long enough to multiply value, but it can be good sometimes and it does force your opponent to use its silence on it, therefore paving the way to your stronger minions.
I've tried and tried making Voraxx work, but it never did.
I totally agree with Echo on his ranking. A good deck uses cheap Divine Shield minions to gain board presence and protect Primalfin (in Wild, Shielded Minibot is awesome). I cracked open Zola late in the expansion and to me, it isn't as useful since to have good value with him, you have to use it on Galvadon or Lynessa. And if you manage to get these out, you're already doing well - so it's a bit more of a win-more card imo.
Are you trying to create a deck of your own? If so, I'd like to favorite it so I can try it when I get a Paladin daily Quest

Thanks for your help everyone!
@Rimousqui: Yes, im trying to make a deck of my own. I also play a Buff deck in wild, a lot actually, with Voraxx, Eydis and Zephyr, it is actually really cool. Thanks for your opinion about Zola the Gorgon, i might nor craft it then.
You're actually tempting me to revisit the deck with Witchwood. I haven't tried Faceless Manipulator, and it might be good to use it on a buffed Primalfin or one of the two biggies...
Here is the last deck I used, one I grabbed here and modified a bit. Made it to 13 in February:

Not a fan of the Bankers. They're essentially dead cards if you draw them early because you don't wanna shuffle early game minions back into your deck to draw in the late game. Zola isn't quite as bad if you're forced to play it early because the minion goes to your hand. Still, running one potentially dead card won't break you, but running three of them might.
Sup people. I finally crafted Zola and not the quest. I have been playing mainly in wild and its VERY fun and you win a lot if you dont face a lot of Cubelocks.
The idea es basically good early 1-2 drops and call to arms as early game. Then you start buffing minions to get good trades, and you have a lot of good buffing targets (better in late game): Voraxx, other minion + Djinn, Eydis. If everything goes wrong, you have Lynessa + Zola in case she gets silenced or something.
I want to say that Eydis Darkbane is BROKEN in this deck, in an empty board the burst can be insane with Sound the Bells!. If she survives one turn you can buff her 5 times with only one card and do 15 burst from just the passive ability + 8 damage from her atack, which is insane.

1. Quest(to maximize memes)/1 copy of Primalfin Champion
2. Zola/1 Banker (Zola honestly is just better than Banker most the time)/ Other Primalfin Champion
3. Quest(if you actually want to win more)/1 Banker.
I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.
