Here's my first idea. It's close to Overkill in a way, but I wasn't sure if it was exact enough to warrant the keyword. Thoughts on tweaks?

You have five lines of text, so "tweaks" are an absolute must. You lose clarity, but you could say "Summon a Void Tendril from the excess damage" or something like that to get it down to four lines.

Just to throw it out there, I figure there are three different ways to interpret what the theme is asking of you. We're good with all of them:

    • Add new characters to represent the allegiance change. Paladin villains, Priest heroes, etc. (like Wailor did above me).
    • Mirror universe: Dr.Boom and co. are now the good guys, while Kalecgos and co. are the bad guys.
    • The characters are represented by the opposing classes instead (Dr. Boom is still E.V.I.L, but he's a Hunter Legendary; Rafaam is a Mage, etc.).

You could dodge the situation and just make an unrelated Twinspell, but these are the general mindsets one must decide on.

This is the Discussion Topic. The Submission Topic will go up in ~24 hours.

    Competition Theme: The EVIL Twin

This week's theme comes from Lathy, whose "Cowardly Knight" was the winner of our No Attack, No Problem competition!

    Competition-Specific Restrictions:

     Competition Process

Preview Phase (Starts Now! Ends 21:00 UTC 18/4/2019)
During this Phase, the Discussion Topic is made available, previewing this week's competition theme.
Entry and Early Voting Phase (Starts 21:00 UTC 18/4/2019, Ends 21:00 UTC 22/4/2019)
During this Phase, the Submission Topic is made available for your submissions. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
Voting Phase (Starts 21:00 UTC 22/4/2019, Ends 21:00 UTC 23/4/2019)
During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
Final Phase (Starts 21:00 UTC 23/4/2019, Ends 21:00 UTC 24/4/2019)
During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and poll to decide the winner of the competition!

    Discussion Topic Rules

To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?

    • Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
    • Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
    • Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!

All of that said, please refrain from the following:

    • Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
    • Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your entry for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
    • Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.

    This Week's Finalists

    Competition-Specific Restrictions:

    • You must make a card with an effect that spreads to other characters or resources. It does not need to be a negative.
    • How exactly the "infection" spreads is up to you, as is what you're infecting. Minions, heroes, cards in the hand, Mana Crystals, etc.
    • The closest we have to existing examples are Explorer's Hat, Val'anyr, and Hakkar, the Soulflayer.

We have whittled down ~90 valid submissions to just 8 of the community's favorites.
Check out all the finalists below and vote in our poll (vote for as many or as few as you like) to help decide the winner and be sure to check back after the poll finishes for the announcement of the winner and the start of a new theme!

@linkblade91 - I don't think it's a good idea to balance an upgraded HP around Justicar Trueheart since...most existing upgraded HPs suck when obtained with Justicar rather than Baku. This is something the devs should have put more thought on. Only Control Priest and Control Warrior used Justicar back in TGT, because only control decks can afford to play a 6mana 6/3 and not lose, and because 4 HP is worth the investment even in the late game.

I get the flavor for Sealed Tome, but I think it's badly executed. Would make more sense as a chest like this for example (derived from a card I made for a WCDC, feel free to use it if you think it's good). I like your other modifications but still think Relentless is UP.

Justicar Trueheart sucks, but if that kind of thought-process can break the tie then it might just be worth considering :P You're gonna have to decide eventually lel.

I like the chest but we already have Toothy Chest from the same set so I'm hesitant to double-dip in that particular well. Having the Deathrattle is nice, though, considering my K&C themes...now I have to think about it.

I though it was a good first episode of a season TBH. I would have liked it to have been longer though, I am not so happy with them cutting down the episode times.

We were told upfront that the first episode would be shorter, but every subsequent episode is gonna be longer than normal.

Made a number of adjustments to my entry; not gonna repost the whole thing, though. Most of these were directly affected by CheeseEtc's feedback:

    Kobolds & Catacombs

    • Eternal Guardian costs 4, up from 3. I'm going to keep the skeleton art because I like it and because I don't think a Nerubian would be appropriate for K&C, flavor-wise.
    • I've replaced Secret Agenda with Sealed Tome, as you might have seen from an above post.

    The Witchwood

    • Raeth nows costs 6, up from 5.
    • Relentless costs 2, down from 3. I'm hesitant to go lower as Cheese suggested.
    • Ghoul Rush cost has gone up to 4, but it now affects all of your minions instead of just Ghouls. I was always concerned that Ghoul Rush could be a dead card if generated outside a Ghoul deck, so I fixed the problem. It would be even more evident now that Sealed Tome exists.

Update my set and address some criticism from Cheese:

    • Kobold Elder is now changed to Furbolg Elder and used the Elder Brandlemar art. I need opinion on whether or not this stray too far from the boss fight.

Considering that you're not using Elder Brandlemar the character, I don't think a connection to the boss fight itself is important. If he was a Legendary then Yes, you should at least try to connect them a little bit, but otherwise it's not always a 1-to-1 translation. Animated Armor has its effect for the League of Explorers boss fight, but Fossilized Devilsaur has a completely different effect. You don't have to worry about it, I'd say.

I hate to bump this again so soon, but... I still haven't gotten any feedback yet, and we have less than a day left to submit.

It's not much in the way of feedback, but I do like the card and think it's fine as-is. Sorry no one has said anything :/

How's this for a replacement of Secret Agenda?

     ->

Doesn't keep the "I'm secretly a double-agent" flavor, but perhaps makes it more K&C-appropriate in the process. Maybe it should cost 3; trying to balance it versus Cabalist's Tome, but the effect is infinitely less abusive here in the Lich class (no Primordial Glyph, for starters).

Sealed Tome should definitely cost 3, in my opinion. There should also be a comma before the "or". It would probably be better if the card read like this:

"Add 2 random Lich spells to your hand, or summon a 4/4 Mimic (at random)."

Good point; thanks for giving it a look. I keep forgetting the italics.

Here are the cards I'm pretty sure I want

    ...

I'm still undecided for some of the slots. See my post page 2 for a few ideas.

I'm also still undecided on the upgraded HP. It is going to influence which cards I will make.

I agree with all of your balance changes. The Witch is no longer an issue, and the Weapon and Crab do not concern me anymore. K&C in general looks really solid and has a lot of flavor throughout. Has more than mine does, at any rate.

I've been wavering back and forth on the Hero Power as well, based on my previous comments lel. If you haven't already, I would go backwards and think about your Classic set combined with hypothetical GvG and TGT sets. Ignoring what happens in the future, what does your class look like back then? What would convince me to run Justicar Trueheart in your class? Maybe that would help break the tie and clarify your stance on the issue. The Hero Power will have existed way before Genn and Baku, so it needs to influence TWW versus the other way around.

I already submitted, but is it worth resubmitting to:

    1. Clarify that the intention is for a permanent -1/-1 reduction to both stats (rather than -1 attack and 1 damage, which can be healed), and

    2. Capitalize “cast?”

You can edit your post to include an updated card, assuming the changes are relatively minor like typos or balance edits. You could also include the explanation in your post (although most everyone understands that -1 Health is not damage).
