Well, if they nerf the top decks and leave Odd Hunter alone, it will just take over as the top deck. But then again, there will always be a top deck and people will always call for nerfs no matter what.
Odd hunter loses really bad to warrior, and if all the top decks get nerfed I think warrior will be much more prominent.
Are we pretending the technology isn't there yet for them to have a different patch active for the tourney compared to the main game? Other games, including at least one other Blizzard game, manage this just fine.
Also bear in mind hardly anyone would care if we hadn't already had a month of this. 2 months for a fix (even longer for some cards which were an issue pre-WW) is unreasonable for a game with the resources and playerbase this one has, not to mention one so stupidly expensive.

There isn't any code marking 'tournament mode' over 'regular mode'. The tournament players play on the same Standard format: it's literally just 'challenge a friend'. Thus the same code that's used to have you play with someone for 80 gold is the same code used in HCT.
They ARE adding a separate tournament system and looking for advice/feedback on what should go in it. They could probably split the features at that point (similar to how they can for Brawl and Standard)
From what I heard of it, the cause of the delay is a combination of Unity for the engine and the mobile systems.
Unity makes it so that small patches aren't small. To change one card they have to reload in the entire game. Thus one change is about as big as multiple changes.
Then the mobile markets, apple and google. You need the approval of both before you can patch your apps and you probably want both at the same time so all three platforms are in sync. From what I hear there, both REALLY drag their feet when it comes to those approvals.
So you have an engine that's hard to update, two companies that need to work in sync that are slow, and all reliant on a company known for fighting with Valve for 'slowest company in the world.' This is still impressively fast for them compared to the old days.
Hearthstone is never going to be a game that's updated quickly. The best we can do is to get the main company Started faster, and they are already in "ok time to nerf" mode before the expansion even hits.
Though yes, we DO need to make sure they are capable of giving different card stats for tournaments.
Hopefully they do a good job. Paladin and warlock obviously need toned down but I wouldn't mind seeing a really broken neutral like Naga sea witch get nerded as well.

If they have tournaments on a different patch than live pro players won't be able to practice for tournaments in ladder because they will be playing a different version of the game to the one they are going to play in the tournament.
They need to make it hit midway between expansions to maximize their profit as the plebs scramble to build the new hot decks. An announcement of an announcement, they really like to shit on the players, don't they?
Changes no doubt delayed because of tournament play. So lame. Respect your average consumer first.
Yes, I'm sure you will feel way more distressed about playing the game without the changes for an extra month compared to the people that spent the last few months preparing for a tournament for 8h a day.
Jesus christ, these forums are starting to make me lose faith in mankind as a whole.
You deserve downvotes for your completely incorrect moral compass. You clearly don't understand what morality is, I suggest you figure it out before you start throwing out philosophical insults like the forum is making you "lose your faith in mankind".
Well, Doomguard at the very least might be an easy solution: don't nerf it just rotate it down into hall of fame. That way wild can still have fun with it but in standard it doesn't have to be so toxic.
As for the rest of the cards:
Lackey and Call to Arms I could easily see nerfing just the mana cost. Up them both in mana by 1 or 2 and I think they'll be fine.
Dark Pact: If they want to nerf this card, how about changing it to "kill a friendly DEMON to gain 8 life"? That way the spell's more warlock appropriate and fits with the class's identity.
Funnily enough I personally didn't have any problems with Tarim. If they must nerf him though again just up his mana cost by 1.
Spiteful is the only card that I agree with that needs to be nerfed to the ground. Sorry but with high rolling cards like Tyrantus spawning so much more this meta it's not exactly healthy for the game.
Do you know what I find funny, Blizzard wanting to nerf Naga Sea Witch. Funny thing is THEY SCREWED THE CARD UP IN THE FIRST PLACE!!
How the card used to work was that it would set the cost of all of your minions to 5 no matter what, even cards which have a mana reduction such as the giants would still have their mana cost set to 5. However because of the change they made to the card, which I may add they only made after the card had been rotated to wild, now the mana reduction of the Giants still applies even after having their mana cost set to 5, making the card oppressive.
Its funny because Blizzard did this to themselves, there was no reason to change how the card worked originally.

I really don't get what your point is. Pro players have been spending months preparing their decks/lineup for that one event, with their team, coach or whatever. By simply introducing the nerfs now, you would make all that work worthless, and basically make it crystal clear you don't give a crap about the pro HS scene on your own game. Maybe I personally believe HS as an e-sport is a joke, but the people who don't have a right not to.
I hate the game's current state as much as the next person. But I also realize I'm a guy who plays this game for fun, in his free time(just like, I would be willing to wager, 99.9% of these forums, including you). The fact that I need to wait less than one month more before said nerfs arrive is meaningless compared to my previous point.
That being said, I also agree Blizzard could provide a way to address both issues simultaneously(by hosting the tournament with the old patch).
And yeah, sorry to break it up to you, but if you don't agree with any of this I couldn't give a rat's ass what you think. If you care more about your own fun than about other people trying to make a living, then you are the kind of person I believe is a waste of oxygen, and therefore not worth my time in any way.

I agree with you there. Other games have done this in the past, and it's kind of silly/lazy of Blizzard not to. But between this and just introducing the nerfs to everyone right now I still think this is the better option. Plus the meta hasn't quite settled down yet, so maybe they are waiting a little bit longer while they discuss what exactly should get nerfed.
I expect nerfs to be announced in a week or two with the balance patch going live near the end of May. We should see anywhere from 5 to 8 cards get hit.

Extremely unlikely that 8 cards will be nerfed. They're looking at 10 cards but said they won't be nerfing all of them. The last batch of nerfs hit more problematic cards than we have this time, and only 4 were changed then.

The meta isn't going to change much, if at all if Blizz doesn't go heavy on the nerfs. Paladin and warlock are so broken OP they need at least 2 or 3 nerfs just to drop down to tier 2. Rogue quest almost certainly will be nerfed according to my friend who's a pro. We also believe the warlock DK is getting hit as well. I don't think nerfing just call to arms is enough, they need to also hit sunkeeper.

My disenchant button is waiting.
so nerf Shaman and Warrior?

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
Finally!!! :)

Looking at the state of the game they will probably leave unbalanced cards unchanged while nerfing other unused decks.
i am happy anyway that they are reacting.Still better then nothing.

I think shadowstep is a likely outside target, change to 1 mana, hits mill rogue in wild and quest rogue.
Dark pact wont change but possessed lackey may say summon from hand ? or be higher mana.
Spitefull big nerf bat I fully expect this card to be "warsonged"
Naga id add an "exactly" to the card text.
