Wait, wait, wait.....YOu mean I can play Raptor, copy Deathrattle and then play Shadowcaster and copy the Raptor so that he has 2 deathrattles once I play him and copy? xD
With Brann down all the time...I know it would be hard to pull it off, but still...the lolz :D
I am constantly amazed that anyone hates Mill Rogue.
You rarely get paired against Mill Rogue. 1 game in 50 is probably overstating it.
Most decks have a high win rate against Mill Rogue. Enjoy your win. The only decks weak to it are control decks which can hardly complain about someone else dragging a game out!
Against Mill, you always have a full range of options in hand. Just make the correct choices and you should win.
Due to its rarity on ladder, Mill presents an interesting and different challenge to the standard metagame decks.
Is it really so much more annoying to lose your board to a 6 mana Vanish (with a full grip) than a 6 mana Lightbomb?
In any case, while Shadowcaster is a marvellous addition to Mill Rogue, what the deck truly needs is a replacement for Deathlord. Mill will struggle without the board control which he provides in the early game. Shadowcaster may boost the turbo-mill concept but control-mill looks like it will be weaker in standard without Deathlord (and Zombie Chow, in my Mill build). Dancing Swords is also leaving Standard so I have my concerns despite the release of Shadowcaster.
Its not funny to fight with non interactive deck, and its annoying, because you cant do nothing if she got right cards in order. And after all, badly designed endgame should not be winning condition in any way.
AltWin decks always get this complaint. It's non-interactive because you build your deck to interact with normal decks, and by definition, an alt-win deck is not a normal deck.
Next turn: Shadowcaster -> Malygos -> some spells, gg
Turn 10: Malygos -> Conceal. Next turn: Malygos ->Faceless manipulator -> some spells, gg
This card try to force rogue into curve stone. t2 Huckster -> t3 Raptor ->t4 pillage ->t5 shadowcaster. You just win if you are ahead and there is no comeback if you're behind. Zoo at its best.
I don't think you can find a room for this in miracle.
I think this card is Amazing, the potential this can create is rocket high, however, with minion that cost lesser than Shadowcaster itself, 1-4. Otherwise, the above user explained it all, which i too, strongly agree.

This. I feel the same way and I don't like it.
Whereas I do like it! Rogue was originally envisaged as the tempo class but quickly got usurped by other classes when Miracle Rogue frightened Blizzard off from releasing any more cheap spells for Rogue.
Like many others in this thread, I'm not looking at cards costing more the 5 mana to combo with Shadowcaster. Indeed, I'm mostly looking at minions costing 4 or less as we can still achieve tempo with this card if we are able to cast the 1 mana copy on the same turn as the target and the Shadowcaster itself despite it only being a 4/4.
In Wild,Nerubian Egg is dreamy but any card with low stats for its casting cost (and therefore possessing strong copyable abilities) is valid. Hobgoblin has obvious appeal (but I am a sucker for Hobgoblin so could be deluding myself, yet again...). Shade of Naxxramas, Bomb Lobber and Enhance-o Mechano are also options worthy of consideration.
This is a really strong card. It lets you replay battlecries and deathrattles and it's a cheap activator too. This actually fits in all rogue archetypes.
(after a Thaurissan discount or the like) Brann, Shadowcaster->Brann, Shadowcaster->Shadowcaster. You can now repeat this combo whenever you feel like. Also, you can 'shrink' other cards (Card, Brann, SC->Card, SC->Brann (optional), SC->SC, SC->SC (optional)) to get an infinite supply of them as well: insert Faceless Manipulator, Healbot, Reno, etc., etc. If you get any of those, you've won.
Can you get this combo often enough to be competitive? Probably not, but I have no clue. Should be fun, though.
Today in my free brawl pack I got Barongeddon, then I had a cup of fresh green tea. As a result of that, I think Priest is OP because my keyboard is not a mechanical one. I hope Blizzard will address this issue.
I believe this card is going to be very good if not standard in most rogue decks. What the design of this card is trying to accomplish is to add a 1 mana spell to the hand since you are only valuing the effect of the card not the body. You'll never play this on a vanilla minion for sure.
Obviously dependent on the board state but unless everyone of your minions are being removed consistently this shouldn't be a dead card

I mean if you currently look at all the minions that get played in the 3 best rogue decks (Miracle, Malyrogue and Oil), wouldn't you love to have any of them even as a 1/1? Even getting a Pillager or a Teacher could be insane. Absolutely love this card
Of course you have to survive early came, and get combo pieces. Typical rogue cards should help. This deck has miracle flavor, and Malygos for the dream. Certainly many other deck types can evolve from the basic combo.

Honestly I don't see what minions in this deck you would love to copy a billion times with Shadowcaster. I guess you could play 3 Malys and just wreck them in 1 turn, but it's equally easy to pull off without Brann/Shadowstep imo. Cool deck idea though
Just figure the deck would be easier to see if I inserted it... It's a similar concept to Coagulant, just more of a "what are some cards that you can abuse" than an actual deck.

Blizzard could have trolled us by making it a paladin card instead of a rogue card(same artwork but maybe different ability). Ben Brode, I am disappointed in you.
In all seriousness, probably the worst card in the set so far. Rogues getting pretty screwed this expansion FeelsBadMan
Aside from the fact that this is a completely uninformed comment due to all the possible synergies, have you even heard of The Boogeymonster? Also we're getting Undercity Huckster and Xaril, Poisoned Mind. Perhaps they don't fit into your dream deck but you can't deny that these are at least decent cards.

Yeah it probably won't be at a competitive but a lot of people will try it because it is so fun and satisfying if you manage the combo.
Many possibilities buti am witholding judgement.

I am so glad this card seems playable since it has my favorite artwork so far.
A glorious bundle of salt.

Basic combo (described by volair) is Shadowcaster on Shadowcaster, and then Shadowstep. This puts a mini Shadowcaster and a Shadowcaster with reduced cost in hand. Playing Brann Bronzebeard next turn and putting shadowcast on Brann and then shadowcasting theShadowcaster gives you 2 mini Branns and 5 mini Shadowcasters.

Can't wait to see how many combos can be used with this card SeemsGood
Damn you snowboarders!
I'd be amazed if this card wasn't beyond broken in some combo way.
