Finally realized where this thread belonged. So, what do you guys think? I made a weird Cthun Mill deck, but I'm not confident in it at all.
Lacking Antique Healbot is a bit crippling, but I think Crazed Worshipper acts as a sufficiently good midgame taunt while also buffing your Cthun to stand in for Sludge Belcher. Shadowcaster, Dark Iron Skulker and the new big damage spell, plus the usual stuff with Sap and SI:7 and the new Disciple of C'Thun could see you through board control even without Blade Flurry.
I suspect it would be wrecked by all the charge and face cards in Aggro since it has shit for healing, but I still have some hopes that that archetype is going to be much less commonly seen. And milling your opponent's C'thun, how sweet would that be?
You can try, but I don't think C'Thun and the typical mill Rogue cards fit into the same deck (you don't need 2 win conditions, especially since they're both targeting control).
I think mill Rogue as a whole is just dead, we lost every survivability tool we had in Deathlord, Healbot, and Flurry. Maybe some new aggressive build of mill will be played, but overall I don't think any of these types of Rogue decks will survive the meta.
YOu are going either mill rogue or C'thun rogue.. 2 different strategies.. the mill cards already take most of the spece if anything you go yogg -saron for board clears or whatever..

You don't think a 10/10 Cthun will clear the board?
And Shadowcaster serves equally well as either a Mill or Boardclear assist.
I was thinking Mill rogue would be good against Cthun decks, as he is their win condition. Also, aganst freeze mage which some are thinking will be strong. I've made a list, mostly to test out new cards viability. Yogg saron seems too much fun not to include. But loss of healbot makes me wonder if this archetype is even semi viable.
If we see a C'thun meta with little aggro then a mill C'thun Rogue could be a tier 1 deck. Blade of C'thun is one of, if not the strongest C'thun related card released in WotOG. Just two of them alone will be sufficient enough for buffing your C'thun leaving you with loads of deckspace to make room for your mill and anti aggro cards. Mill Rogue is already good enough to absolutely destroy most control decks and COMPLETELY destroyed combo decks, i.e. ALL C'thun decks. Mill Rogue's real trouble now is with midrange decks with even more options to curve out strong cards if they draw well. C'thun is a strong finisher for mill rouge against these new midrange decks while still leaving its anti control portion intact.
Thats exactly what I said a couple posts up but my deck I crafted uses Yogg as a potential finisher, but this is skewed more toward fun factor than viability. C'thun would be a more reliable finisher most likely. Im gonna be testing out a few of the new cards to see how they work for the deck and also see how it fares against the meta.
I do agree about mill only which is why I would use Yogg instead of C'thun since most the deck is spells anyway. And I definitely think x2 Shadowcaster is auto include with the synergy of Coldlight and Brann. Also it's not bad with Emperor or Vendor. If you include sylvanas that's yet another target.
That's actually a valid point. C'thun decks might be midrange in a lot of cases, and the matchup will be quite similar to dragon priest. The only difference is these minions are less beefy, and they all are vanilla, no power creeps (Twilight WhelpWyrmrest AgentDark CultistTwilight Guardian = nightmare fuel).
Yes, Sap / Vanish will allow them to reuse the battlecry, but they don't bring anything to the game before C'thun (which might become a problem if he's able to oneshot you with battlecry lol).
The dream would be to survive the battlecry, Blade of C'Thun his Cthun and then play your own. Of course, since Rogue has shit for healing, this is unlikely.
I don't really feel like the Cthun minions are particularly terrifying by themselves. They're vanilla statted minions; almost any non-Cthun deck should be able to apply more pressure in the midgame by using actually top tier minions instead of 2 mana 2/3s or whatever.
Well, the loss of Healbot and Deathlord diminished Mill survival power in standard, but the archetype is not dead at all, just not a top tier deck, but it's never been so anyway. Shadowcaster helps a lot.
However, I think most Mill players are forgetting a very basic and cheap card for the archetype: Youthful Brewmaster.
It was probably lost due to other better cards from naxx and GvG, but now I think he is the card that most of any other can keep Mill alive in standard. He is almost a third Shadowstep, and more reliable than the random toxin cards given by Xaril (which could eventually replace a spell card, such as Shadow strike, for improved versatility, although RNG based). Brewmaster tremendously improves the versatility and combinations of other cards, which can be used for the battlecry (just think of healing or card draw from Oracle), and then safely put back to your hand to use again later.

I wish Valeera had tentacles for arms
Your deck tries to do too much at once and therefore suceeds at nothing.
You won't be able to mill your opponent and stack C'Thun by using less impactful minions at the same time.

Mill should be dead. It's toxic.

I returned to this game much like how a recovering alcoholic can relapse.
i can tell you that most of the times timepiece of horror doesnt clear the board (same 10 dmg at random enemies)
Use Earthen Ring Farseer and Refreshment Vendor as your cheap healing anti aggro cards.

I'm here to kick ass and play cards, and I'm all out of ass.
Just made this deck and it seems to be working pretty well so far. :D
