Anyfin Can Happen Paladin is Back!
Are you tired of playing control against Priests with annoying Entombs?
Give this deck a try! You won't regret it.
It is one of the unique decks that both good against aggro and control decks.
Also, it is really fun to play!
1. Introduction:
Hello, dear reader! Firstly, I want to say that I have been playing this game in EU server every day for over a year. My collection has been getting bigger so this was a nice time to start experimenting on a new original deck. I created the deck by combining the old combo murloc deck with N'zoth paladin. The result was amazing! I managed to reach rank 5 with this deck. I have no time to push for the legend but if anyone did, please share. I would be really happy to see your supports, recommendations, and comments for the deck. Any help will be appreciated greatly !
Secondly, I want to talk about the general play style of the deck. I personally enjoy playing with the deck. Making crazy combos and watching your opponent getting wrecked by a horde of murlocs are really tempting. The play style is basically same with the old combo murloc deck. You try to stall the game with your board clear cards and try to draw your murlocs at the same time. After 3 out of your 4 murlocs are dead, you can play Anyfin Can Happen. Since Old Murk-Eye rotated out from Standard, you need to play the second Anyfin Can Happen for the one-turn-kill. Still, thanks to the new epic spell Forbidden Healing, the new legendary Ragnaros, Lightlord, many card draw and board clear cards, the deck is as strong as before.
2. Updates:
I am currently working on the guide of the deck. It is half done but I am busy with my internship so I might not able to finish it. However, if you are having any problem, just leave a comment. I will try to be helpful as possible.
Edit 1: -2 Acolyte of Pain, +2 Azure Drake, the guide is changed accordingly.
3. Card Replacements:
- No replacements -> Forbidden Healing, Doomsayer, Murloc Warleader, Anyfin Can Happen
- Solemn Vigil -> Acolyte of Pain
- Enter the Coliseum -> Acidic Swamp Ooze, Keeper of Uldaman, another Forbidden Healing, Harrison Jones, Tirion Fordring (priority), Eadric the Pure
- Lay on Hands -> Hard to replace. Card draw and healing are in one card which is a huge deal. Try Acolyte of Pain, another Forbidden Healing or Harrison Jones (priority).
- Ragnaros, Lightlord -> Hard to replace since you heal and leave a huge 8/8 body. Try another Forbidden Healing, Tirion Fordring (priority), Soggoth the Slitherer, Ragnaros the Firelord, Baron Geddon.
4. Wombo Combo:
- Card Draw:
Doomsayer, next turn Solemn Vigil (best opening scenario)
Wild Pyromancer + Equality + Solemn Vigil
- Board Clear:
Doomsayer(s) (If you feel that one will not be enough.)
Enter the Coliseum + Humility or Aldor Peacekeeper
Humility or Aldor Peacekeeper + Stampeding Kodo (Good against taunt minions and cards that need to be immediately destroyed especially Ysera.)
- OTK:
After min 3 murlocs died. You can play the first Anyfin Can Happen. Never play the second one unless you are sure that you have lethal, your opponent does not have any board clear or you are in a bad situation.
5. Strategy & Mulligan:
- Always keep:
A Solemn Vigil, if you have a Doomsayer for the combo.
A Wild Pyromancer, if you have a Equality.
- Against Druid:
C'Thun Druid:
Always beware of your health. Make sure that you won't die to the C'Thun's battlecry. Always keep a Humility or Aldor Peacekeeper for C'Thun when you are in late game. You might consider not killing it after reducing its attack to 1 as your opponent may have a Doomcaller.
Keep your Equality or Enter the Coliseum, if you suspect Brann Bronzebeard + Twin Emperor Vek'lor combo.
C'Thun's Chosen, Klaxxi Amber-Weaver, C'Thun, any big taunt minion are good Humility or Aldor Peacekeeper targets. After that you might consider playing Stampeding Kodo.
Beckoner of Evil, Mire Keeper, Azure Drake, Brann Bronzebeard are good Truesilver Champion targets.
Beckoner of Evil, Disciple of C'Thun, Brann Bronzebeard are good Stampeding Kodo targets.
Druid lacks board clear so you might consider playing the second Anyfin Can Happen even when you don't have lethal.
- Against Hunter:
Midrange Hunter:
Bad matchup because of continuous threats. Try to take minimum damage and draw your OTK combo cards really fast. Keep your Equality or Enter the Coliseum against Call of the Wild.
Savannah Highmane is the perfect Humility and Aldor Peacekeeper target. After reducing its attack do not kill it. Wait until you need to use your equality combo. Or finish the hyenas and spiders with Consecration.
Huffer, King's Elekk, Huge Toad are good Bluegill Warrior targets.
Leokk, Tundra Rhino, Carrion Grub, Desert Camel, Flame Juggler are good Stampeding Kodo targets.
- Against Mage:
Freeze Mage:
Bad matchup because of Ice Block. The one that reaches his or her combo first wins so draw really fast. Save your minions by playing Stampeding Kodo to kill your opponent's Doomsayer. Make sure that Ragnaros, Lightlord does not die to Doomsayer so that your opponent will be forced to spent her spells. Use Humility + Any healing after your opponent plays Alexstrasza. Also use Truesilver Champion for healing. Make sure you can kill Archmage Antonidas immediately.
Tempo Mage:
Beware of your health and Counterspell. Try utilizing from Mirror Entity by copying your murlocs so that you can access the OTK combo earlier. Do not use your board clear cards too early. After a good board clear, your opponent will lose her tempo significantly and chance of winning will be in your favor. Make sure you can kill Archmage Antonidas immediately.
Sorcerer's Apprentice, Cult Sorcerer are good Bluegill Warrior targets.
Mana Wyrm, Spellslinger, Flamewaker are good Truesilver Champion or Stampeding Kodo targets.
Ethereal Conjurer, Faceless Summoner are good Humility and Aldor Peacekeeper targets.
Water Elemental, Archmage Antonidas are good stampeding kodo combo targets.
Keep Bluegill Warrior, Truesilver Champion, Forbidden Healing.
Cancel everything except Equality and Forbidden Healing, if you don't have any Doomsayer.
- Against Paladin:
N'Zoth Control Paladin:
Good matchup. Your opponent has only few threats for you which you can deal with it easily. Still, try to draw cards as fast as you can since Justicar Trueheart can cause some pressure late in the game. If your opponent runs a Elise Starseeker, that will not be a problem as you don't need to use your board clears a lot. So by the time Golden Monkey is played, you will have at least one of your board clears. Save one equality combo for N'Zoth, the Corruptor. Try to use your Stampeding Kodo on your opponent's Acolyte of Pain to prevent him from drawing. Or you can use it to kill Ragnaros, Lightlord with the combo. Use your Humility and Aldor Peacekeeper on your opponent's deathrattle minions.
N'Zoth Dragon Paladin:
Still a good matchup. Your opponent has more threats but you can deal with them easily. Don't use your board clears too early. Don't afraid of taking damage if you feel that your equality combo will gain more value. Always save one of your board clear combos for N'Zoth, the Corruptor.
Blackwing Corruptor, Azure Drake are good Truesilver Champion targets. You can also kill his other dragon synergy cards with the help of your Silver Hand Recruits or Consecration.
Use your Stampeding Kodo on Acolyte of Pain. Kill Ysera immediately with the kodo combo. If you don't have that answer, using Equality for only Ysera worths it.
Your opponent might have Deathwing, Dragonlord. In that case reduce its attack to one. Do not kill it afterwards if you don't have your equality combo.
Keep Solemn Vigil.
- Against Priest:
Keep Truesilver Champion, Solemn Vigil.
- Against Rogue:
- Against Shaman:
Keep Consecration.
Keep one Humility or Aldor Peacekeeper, if you have anything recommended.
You should consider keeping Enter the Coliseum, if you don't have any board clear.
- Against Warlock:
Keep Consecration.
You should consider keeping Enter the Coliseum, if you don't have any board clear.
- Against Warrior:
Keep Truesilver Champion, Stampeding Kodo.
Cancel Stampeding Kodo, if you don't have a Doomsayer.
6. Thank you!
For your interest and support for the deck!
Hi everyone, I created this deck before one night in karazhan. Therefore, you will see that the guide is for old meta so don't bother to read it.
However, I changed the deck according to the new meta. It is still a really great deck. I am still enjoying it while slowly climbing the ladder.
Let me first say, I rarely come back after playing a deck that I found on Hearthpwn. This deck just was for giggles initially, and I really didn't think of it as much of a competitive deck overall, but recent challenges that required some win streaks with my pally took it to a new level.
I did modify this deck, and I tend to slow play is since there is so much healing. I replaced the acolytes completely because I would find myself with plenty of cards, just not something worth a play oftentimes. And Against Reno decks, you might run out of damage. So I added a Dark Iron Dwarf, Avenging Wrath, and Crowd Favorite. This may change, but for the current meta it's working.
You don't need more than the 4 murlocks that are in this deck already. It's a monster. Remember, Anyfin Can Happen puts down up to 7 murlocks that died this game. So, if your opponent plays a m'lock or two, that may help or hinder your plans. Keep that in mind.
Lordinaryus gives you a really nice guide, but here are some pointers from my play with it. Bottom line, this is one of those decks that makes you enjoy the game all over again if you are like me and get bored of the same old, same old.
Hi Ecxema, thank you so much for spending your time to make this deck better. This is an interesting suggestion as I never tried or thought about adding these cards into the deck. I don't know how well it went for you with the replacements but for me it didn't go well. The reasons are: there were only few battlecry cards for Crowd Favorite and Avenging Wrath usually didn't clean the board because of bad RNG and it is just too costy.
Still, I followed your suggestion (about low damage) and replaced both Acolyte of Pains with Azure Drake. 4/4 body, card draw and synergy with Consecration is just great. If you are not interested in more card draw than more damage, you can also try replacing Acolyte of Pains with legendaries like Tirion Fordring, Soggoth the Slitherer, Ragnaros the Firelord or maybe Baron Geddon.
I had taken out Crowd Fav shortly after this post. I have made other changes as well.
I agree to an extent, but made some additional changes.
i would like to put Ragnaros, Firelord into the deck. Any room for it ?
If you really want to put him in your deck, I would suggest you to replace Acolyte of Pain with Ragnaros the Firelord. However, I don't see how he fits this deck. I would go for Tirion Fordring instead.
Thank you
I love the deck!
But i cant seem to win, i went from rank 9 to 12..
I always feel like the opponent has the upper hand. I have only had the chance to play my second anyfin can happen once.
Another thing, late game i need to decide if i need to heal or summon murlocs, and healing with lay on hands or forbidden healing doesnt put any temp on the board. Just delays the game an extra turn, maybe the deck needs more taunts or something.
Try healing the turn after clearing the board or you can use the first Anyfin Can Happen to get rid of your opponent's 2 minions which in most cases that's enough. I tried cards like Psych-o-Tron as taunts but they didn't make much difference since everything you play is for either delaying the game or building your combo. I found taunts weak to control class. Healing seems to me a more strong answer to any class, that's why I didn't use any taunts.
I managed to climb rank 5 with the deck from rank 15 but it takes some time. I would say the win rate is generally around 50-60% assuming that you played correctly. Also, I was lucky enough to see only few pirate warriors, freeze mages and midrange hunters.
Sure, there are better decks with higher win rates. But if your goal is rank 5 and you are a patient person, I would say go for this deck. I play this deck mostly for the fun and being original.
Nice deck. Just played against 2 shamans to test the deck. They conceded...
Glad to see it's working! I will add a guide against shamans soon.
That in and of itself in this meta is no easy feat.
EDIT: Just tried it! It DOES piss off Shaman!
Yeah, overall the deck has been really good against shamans for me too which is really nice since I saw a lot of shamans in the ladder. They basically conceded after the first or second board clear.
From what I can tell, I am also doing really well against paladins too but terrible against hunters. Rest of the classes I would give around 50% chance of winning.
