posted a message on Why do people want tournament mode?
    Quote from romangod jump

People are already tired of complaining about brawl mode and want a new mode to whine and complain about.

LoL that's funny. But true, sadly.

However, I believe there is more to that. A lot of Hearthstone players have had experience with other card games (I don't wanna just say TCG because that's not really the only one). Some of them might even have participated in tournaments. When they are asking for a "Tournament Mode", they are reminiscing on the past and is trying to bring back (or trying to experience for the first time) the experience of a tournament.

The mere mention of the word "Tournament" also brings the feeling of authority, of seriousness. It's like they are no longer playing "just a game", but is engaged in serious competition, with other competitors to fight for glory and fame, to prove that they are the champion(s) of this competition. Which is fine, whatever. Know that Hearthstone will never be like this.

Hearthstone is a casual game BY DESIGN. The developers said that. The developers do exactly that. Randomness breeds fun and laughter. Randomness ruins competition. The developers want the game for players so that the players can pick it up, play a few games, get some good laughter, and move on with their daily lives. I guess that vision doesn't really align with some of the vocal minorities. But that's fine. Everyone has a say, right?

If they want competition, want tournament mode, go play M:tG. If I don't have a fiancee, and have a buttload of cash from my father, sure I would play M:tG all day and engage in tournaments. Afterall a little bit of my heart still want to excel at playing card games, specifically M:tG. But alas, I can't. So I am content with Hearthstone, giving me some card games to play and think about, but is casual enough I can set it down and go on with my daily lives.

Someone had responded to my other posts, saying something like "you are like someone saying you don't need to get high on drugs because you can get high on lives". I mean, well yeah. I don't know if I get high on lives, but I certainly don't need to get high on drugs, or Hearthstone, or M:tG, for that matter. I am not saying anything, I am just pointing it out.

posted a message on Let's try to balance face hunter

This topic is so sensible I must make my contribution.

1 mana spell, "Turn your hero power into Hunting-Hunter - 0 mana: Destroy your opponent if your opponent is playing hunter." (Yes, the opponent, the physical opponent.

    Or how about...

1 mana 1/1 with an ability that reads: "If your opponent plays a hunter spell, that spell is destroyed, so is one of his/her fingers".

    Hey. How about this...

1 mana spell : "For the rest of the game, if your opponent activates Steady Shot, instead of dealing 2 damage to your hero, the arrow is redirected to hit your opponent in the face". (Gore warning)

    Finally, this.

1 mana spell : "For the rest of the game, if your opponent's Explosive Trap is activated, instead of dealing 2 damage to your hero and your minions, your opponent is put into the living hell that is Explosive Trap and die in a fire. You are required to witness the scene and listen to the wailing until your opponent is dead".

Are you not entertained? ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED? IS THIS NOT WHY YOU ARE HERE? /spit

posted a message on So I bought a hero...

Each to their own, I guess.

So let me tell you another story...

One day my friend came by, so I treated him with a beer...

Friend: You got that new painting there.

    Me: Yep.

Friend: I don't know who painted that, looks cool though.

    Me: Thanks!

So after a day or two another friend came by, this time I treated him with some wine...

    Friend: That's your new decorations...?

    Me: ...yep.

Friend: Looks like a smudge... but whatever. You pay like *** for that?

Me: (smiles and shake head) yep. Sounds silly, right?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The point is not about the painting's good or the price is good, but the painting itself. Not only did it offer me some comfort when I look at it, it also gives me and my buddies something to talk about. The price doesn't matter. The painter doesn't matter. What matter is what you do with what you got.

posted a message on So I bought a hero...

For those who are saying they can get more games on Steam than buy the portrait, why not do both? I checked Steam before I sleep and lo' and behold games are on sale. Some of them are on my wishlist so I grabbed a bunch.

I do them for different purposes. I buy games so that I can play them. I buy portraits the same reason I get a vase or paintings or whatever for my house, I enjoy looking at them. And if some of my friends enjoy looking at them when they visit, that's fine too.

So I will tell you a story...

One day I was walking on the street with a roasted turkey in hand. I met a guy.

    Me: (shows turkey to guy)

Guy: (nods with smile on face)

    Me: (shares turkey with guy)

    Both: (good times)

And then another day I was walking on the street again, this time with a roasted suckling pig in hand. I met another guy.

    Me: (shows pig to guy)

    Guy: (finger pointing) Screw you!!

    Me: (facepalm, walks on)

Guy: (still yelling) Screw you and your disposable income!!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    See, it's all about perspective.

By the way, if it is not clear enough, the story has absolutely nothing to do with what we are discussing here in this thread. :D

I am gonna dive into playing warlock when they allow me to replace Guldan with anything. I mean... Guldan is ugly, even by Orc standard.
