Omnislash_7777 posted a message on New Card - Piloted Shredder discussionPosted in: Card DiscussionI think this is going to be a sleeper card like sludge belcher where everyone is going to be like "meh.." at first until a bunch of top players introduce it into constructed then it'll be one of those cards that's literally in every deck.

This literally just happened today.
Playing some wild casual, my opponent with a Reincarnate Shaman, and me with a Hunter I'd cobbled together for fun. It's late in the game, and he manages to get his Baron Rivendare Ancestral Spirit Stalagg wombo combo, leaving him with a massive board, and me with a couple 2 attack minions and a silenced Summoning Stone. He has 16 health and in no danger of losing, but sprinkles on just a little BM by playing a Flametongue and a Hero Power totem to fill his board.
The Hero Power activates my Dart Trap which had been sitting there for ages, and in spite of his full board, hits him right in the face. I don't think much of it.......until I top deck the Kill Command, and notice that for all his bluster, he has no taunts.
Everybody knows that the face is the place.

Priest is one of my favourite classes, but even I try to be careful what I wish for.
People were clamoring for better Shaman cards before LoE came out, and then they got Tunnel Trogg. All of a sudden Aggro Shaman was a thing, and once it's counters got rotated out, it exploded. Now people hate Shaman, and are hoping it doesn't get powerful cards from this expansion.
Paladin struggled a bit before GvG, then it got Shielded Minibot and Muster for Battle. And when they added in Mysterious Challenger? You guessed it, KABOOM!
If you ask for a massive buff, you might just get a massive buff, and it might not be quite what you wanted.

Everywhere I go, I hear people say "blahblah isn't that good because it'll rotate out eventually". I honestly think this is a rare case of people being too far-sighted in regards to game balance.
Players are currently complaining about the Aggro Shamans which have been so ubiquitous since the WotOG release (This is when I started playing so I don't know if they existed before then), and all the pieces for it (minus 4 mana 7/7) have existed since LoE. Everyone is clamoring for more anti-aggro cards to counter it and Zoolock, especially Priest players.
Now, if I went back to May 1st or so, and said, "Don't worry, the Shaman Basic/Classic sets suck, Shaman will suck again when the good cards rotate out in about 8 months", how much would that actually help that person, at that exact moment in time?
And then I look at some of the new Karazhan cards, and hear people say, "Yeah, that's some great synergy for a deck that's rotating out next year, not worth it". Meanwhile, I'm thinking, "Yeah, only 5 months. No way anybody could make any decent decks in that amount of time".
Yes, Warrior in general has great evergreen cards. They'll generally have a solid archetype to fall back on, no matter the set. However, other classes (perhaps most classes) will easily rise and fall in power, because that's the nature of a rotating format like Standard. Priest did have its glory days in GvG/Naxx, and then fell from grace with the rotation. The same thing could happen to Shaman if it can't find another good archetype from Karazhan/Next Expansion.
Basically, a "short" reign of terror is still a reign of terror, and metas are a bitch when things keep changing around you.

Saddle up y'all! Wild is N'ZOTH country!
Fight through an endless army of cost-efficient deathrattle minions, and get punished for doing it!
Strive for victory without actually getting anywhere close!
Watch, as your opponent erects an impenetrable board of minions you already spent all your removals getting rid of the first time! Even Twisting Nether won't save you now!
Despair as your opponent uses Shadowstep on their N'Zoth, taking your hopes and dreams with it!
So, what are you waiting for? Come on down to WILD. Where even the Rogues heal better than Priests!

I suppose Heroic Silverware will have a "Spork" minion that gives the plates Taunt and Charge.
And +2/+2, just because.

Yesterday I switched to EU for the first time, opened a Tirion Fordring on the first pack. Felt pretty bad about it.
Switched back to America and got my free Tavern Brawl pack this morning, and.......guess who? Tirion Fordring
I think I might be the only person to ever be overjoyed at opening the same legend twice in a row.
