Rise of Shadows has this "oh crap I forgot to write that essay let me do it on the bus" look to me. The live videos are not HD, for example, and the latest flag was that they recycled the (albeit unused) artwork from Omega Defender. For the latter, I totally understand the desire to up-cycle an existing resource, so as not to waste effort(s) and cut a corner or two. It's there, use it -- fine.
Another thing is that they are taking characters and ideas that already exist and recycling them. The "bad guys" are all from previous expansions. Instead of creating a new story they borrowed from everything prior. It just seems like it's lacking that "one hundred and ten percent" caliber of effort. You know what I mean?
I've noticed little things like this since Ben left. Is anyone else noticing these drop-in-quality breadcrumbs?
EDIT: My comments above are 90% about presentation 10% about recycled mechanics. I don't demand that nothing be old and everything be new. I do however think that quality is key.
so many people think that just because they are doing something more than once, its lazy. why? there is nothing wrong with using old characters and mechanics.

Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.
Probably just point of view, for example i dont have problem with anything you listed, actually im quite happy they did many of these things and i could care less about HD video quality lol.
/edit: btw lets not turn this topic into bashing OP for even asking that, like i said, everyone can view this differently.

I don't think Ben leaving had as profound an impact on things as you think. Ben even said himself that he had very, very little to do with the creation and ideas behind the game for the last couple of years, the higher he went up the leadership ladder.
Take RoS and look at it as a microcosm, rather than comparing it to past expansions. Is it fun? Is it fresh? Does it introduce new mechanics and interesting ideas and cards? I would contend that the answer to all of these is "yes". Let's see what rolls out before we jump to judgement on the entire expansion. See you out there on the battlefield, card slinger!
I have been wondering how much the loss of the outward-facing "community" people... due to the lay-offs... has affected the card reveals/timing/quality etc. Coordinating card reveals seems like a natural role for the community-based staff/resources.
Nothing wrong in using old materiale, but for me characters like Dr. Boom, Hagatha and Togwaggle could have come back next year or at the end of the year. I would I loved to see some old characters come back - Brann, Reno, Kel'thuzad or Nerfarien would have been good candidates.

You know, it could very well all be a product of the (lay-off bruised) environment. Didn't consider that. I just know that when things like HD video quality, a standard anymore, slips through the cracks it screams to me that someone higher up simply doesn't care anymore.
Keep in mind we have less than 20 cards revealed. Only 11% of the expansions been shown.
My comments are about the quality of presentation. Not what's printed on the revealed cards. I know not to judge an expansion until at least 3 weeks after it's been released, and by then any of the original gripes have passed.
You play hearthstone because you meet these "old" cards that made you feel great playing the game, sadly, more or less, but seeing some of the old mechanics coming back is not a bad thing, they will 100% fell different with the new ones. And also these mechanics come in different shape. They are not lazy, they are hard working trying to make something from the past fell new. So your point of view is based on something that is not rly true. Try to think again about this!
I kinda like to revisit characters and places, brings back nice memories. I do feel like they are having some trouble getting things like videos and spoilers out though. But its just a feeling. Also the main song in the trailer was weird, I just could not understand Rafaam :D I just got used to their superduper trailers I guess.
The whole "reusing old art" thing has always kind of been apart of Hearthstone. A lot of the early artwork came from the original Warcraft TCG and while it can seem a bit lazy to reuse art that everybody publically saw, I think the card's art fits it well.
As for recycling the characters, I feel like they are trying to take the same approach as the most recent MTG story, where they took a bunch of planeswalkers (the protagonists) from old sets (stuff dating back to 2007), and giving them new ambitions and building off of it. Depending on how Hearthstone does it, building new sides for Rafaam, Lazul, Togwaggle, and Dr. Boom can all be really good if done correctly. We saw a bit of character development in the Boom Labs comic, but if they want it to work out well, they'll need to step it up a lot.
I'm skeptical too about this since it's been a while since Hearthstone has had a great narrative in an expansion (which in my opinion, is LoE since Karazahn story was meh and KFT felt a lot more like a gag to me) but if done well, it'll be good for them to rehash the old characters.
Edit: also, this may just be me, but seeing certain mechanics comeback, such as the whole Forbidden mechanic, makes me happy as I remember when they first came out and it brings back good memories playing with the cards.

They said that they had the idea of adding bad guys to the game and bringing them back all at once since Karazhan though

I'd personally say that it's your perception. Give the rest of the set time to be revealed before you pass judgment.
A never-Legend Dad who keeps making rank 2 or 1, but then sliding.
Rumbling around Gurubashi Arena. Shirvallah is the best loa. Go Tigers!
There are many times cards are cut from expansioms and appear later. Brode said patches was from several expansions before his debue.
I dont think it feels lazy at all so far. Keep in mind we have less than 20 cards revealed. Only 11% of the expansions been shown
If you have a deck idea might as well go full ham on it.

The obligatory "the new expansion seems lazy" thread
You know, it could very well all be a product of the (lay-off bruised) environment. Didn't consider that. I just know that when things like HD video quality, a standard anymore, slips through the cracks it screams to me that someone higher up simply doesn't care anymore.

Not my intention.

I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.
By the way, why did actually Omega Defender's artwork get changed?
