That's cool that it worked, but ehh...I don't know, it's got to be so rare that you can win by delaying their combo for a turn or two. I'll give it a try in even paladin and see how badly I own myself with it. It's so situational and random that it can't really be "good" on a regular basis, but if it's fun maybe he can stay in.
Griftah is an amazing card. My favorite of the expansion even. Although after playing with it I have to say it's not that great, but surprisingly it's still the most fun card. So it's still my favorite, but for the most part it's because all the other cards feel somewhat lame to me. I think it's just the theme of the expansion for me. Everything is just so "competitive" and only a few cards like Griftah, Drakkari Trickster are really fun. For example the Mage Loa is pretty tryhard. Ragnaros for one mana less and it can be triggered multiple times. But nonetheless Griftah would be a very cool card even if there would be better fun cards around. The only reason people complain is because it's Legendary. It's a decent card but it might not feel worthy of a Legendary. But otherwise a really fun card in my opinion. And you can basically run it in pretty much any deck.
I pulled this from a pack and was super disappointed. I play a lot of meme decks and the fact that this card depresses me should say something lol.

I'm not sure from your post whether you ever actually played with it or not, but I certainly did and it is exactly as OP said: fun and actually reasonably strong if you read the situation and the odds correctly. I remember 1 game against spell hunter where I played Griftah with Spirit of the Shark. Both times I handed him Valeera the Hollow, which might sound terrible but he had no use for them as he was already Deathstakler Rexxar.
Anyway it is at just the right level of power and silliness to be perfect for meme decks. You should give him a go if you haven't already.
crafted the griftah in gold thought i made the wrong decision but really i don't regret it at all. or at least i've crafted gold way worse. solid body, priest hates it. plus extra golden copies for you and your opponent. it's really not a spectacular card but more of a fair card that's fun and memey.
itll be the worst card in almost any deck you make realistically, but it could be fun, and its not so terrible that it wont work 100% of the time so if u got it why not give it a go
I've been attempting to champion this card from the outset. I'm on record as saying Griftah is flat out good if used properly. Also, anyone fan of RNG/discover will enjoy him.
Saw a Video where Trump uses it to Mill enemy combo pieces. But he didnt actually use Griftah to perform the actions he mostly used other cards.
I used this card and the 3 cost card that gives both players a 2 drop to try mess up a DR rogues combo. It's ended up not being maly though..just a typical necruim(forgot spelling) cancer deck

LOL Bullshit! This card is complete Garbage. I'm not sure if it'd even be good in a thief rogue deck. It would okay if you could choose who gets what. I honestly believe they copied this card from another game but that card only have 2 options so it wasnt a rng of who gets what.
I picked him in I think a 10 wins arena run. One time he gave me Deathstalker Rexxar, opponent insta-concede. He's underrated. There is so much finesse in card-picking for your opponent. His only problem is that in the current meta usually turn 4 must be an active turn (Push for momentum/Tempo Swing) or a defensive one (Stall, fight for board clear) so doing nothing on curve it is not a very viable option

Remember playing Control Shaman with Reincarnate shenanigans? No? It was fun, here's a refresher!

His only problem is that it's a legendary so people who didn't open it are not gonna explore the card whatsoever. The card is actually decent might see play in rotation
Would this have any synergy with Spirit of the Shark in a rogue deck, with some other cards that give your opponent a card. Perhaps to make a mill deck.
I like Griftah as a card and he worked quite well for me in my anti-OTK warlock deck that I came up with. That said, though, he's a little too temperamental at times - and it's part of the problem I have with Hearthstone as a game overall really, rather than with this specific card. There is so much randomness in the game, that with every random interaction that is added, it takes away a little more of the ability to use strategy and planning in games. And instead, it almost always becomes a game of reactivity rather than pro-activity. Because you are constantly having to "throw plan A out the window because a random effect just threw the game for you". Which is fine in general - perhaps that's the whole idea of the game; to be a random clown fiesta. But I think it is a strong part of what makes Hearthstone so rage-inducing at times and a lot less enjoyable (subjectively) than it could be.

It's certainly why I play the game and enjoy it more than for example the rather boring MtG. It depends on why you play the game, but I for example don't focus so much on winning, but rather enjoy the actual gameplay as it unfolds and with that always trying to make the best out of it and the more "twists and turns" the more interesting for me. (I wish more people wouldn't take this game so seriously in terms of competition, but whatever.)
And therefore Griftah is my favorite card of the set. And he really is a decent card in general. The problem with him is, like it was said before, that he's Legendary. People won't craft only a "decent Legendary" and even if they get him it might be better for them to craft something more useful for the dust he's worth. Because the actual card itself is on average better than Tanglefur Mystic. Not only you have some control over what either of you might be getting; you also know both cards, not just yours; and that's quite a big deal.

Griftah won me this game against Mechathun Druid, so satisfying!
https://hsreplay.net/replay/dT9NNC5Ck6XjK8YNoSUqb3
I picked Frozen Crusher (missed Azalina, doh!) and Elize the Trailblazer when Druid had Mechathun ready. Both would have screwed my opponent.
Also, been playing Griftah in Even Pally and Even Shaman which can run out of resources.
Those 2 decks usually have minions to play on curve so I save Griftah till I have an idea of what kind of card I'm looking for.
The big advantage is that you get to play your card right away, so look for something to play on the same turn.
Anyway, it's so fun and surprising to opponent when you pull that card that wins you the game out of nowhere.
Anyone else have any cool Griftah games?

Was thinking maybe Gonk, the Raptor! Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk!?
Nup! fkn Griftah
Rusty Recycler
Ironic. It could recycle others, but not itself.
why would you want gonk?
