Like I said with Genn, it looks niche, but it may end up being meta-defining
Will define the meta. On turn 2, an upgraded hero power is almost worth a 2-drop.
We'll see as it plays out, but this is a deckbuilder's dream. And I expect some powers, such as the mage or druid ones, to be very strong when contesting early boards.
This is Start of game mechanic. So creating a deck to have an upgraded hero power at the very beginning is enough to make this work even if you had to add some trash filler. That's the whole point of the mechanic. Think outside of the box you created with your old school archetypes.
Priest would lose all the cards that make their healing effects deal damage, negating a lot of the upgraded hero power potential, Control priests would lose the death knight, and big priest would lose just about every useful card in the deck.
Warlock's upgrade isn't worth going for (and they'd lose their cubes and death knight as well)
Shaman's upgrade also isn't worth going for (and losing devolve + Hex would kill their removal options)
Rogue's upgrade is also awful (plus they'd lose all their bounce cards, auctioneer, & arcane giants...)
Hunter's upgrade is only 50% more damage, and they'd lose all secrets, Houndmaster, Savanah Highmane... Maybe quest hunter? =/
Warrior might lose the least, although the reason warrior ran justicar was largely for anti-fatigue, and running this card would mean no Dead man's Hand...
No, I can't honestly see this seeing play.
A solid analysis.
However I think the card has so much potential (for paladin, mage, hunter or druid) that at least one class will pull it off.
And it's "double play". Even if the card gets ignored in standard, it has a big potential in wild.
I think that AT LEAST one class will have a T2 deck using this card in wild.
if they make the warrior heropower good, i can see this being played. Considering alot of control warrior Cards are odd mana costs IE : Brawl, Shield Slam, Shield Block. The only issue is bloodrazor and execute are even, but we will have to see.
The bloodrazor is pretty weak without fishes, but warrior also loses ghoul, and there is no other armor gain except shield block and armor up. The last problem is no win condition at the moment, I think the only option left at the moment is playing the quest
If you use a legendary hero card , will ur new hero power still be an upgraded version ? For instance Frostlich Jaina which costs 9mana or thrall deathseer 5mana
No, it would get overwritten with the new DK hero power.
The 1-cost hero power is FAR better than the Justicar hero power. Any combination of even-cost cards to fill the turn + 1 Mana to hero power uses all Mana effectively on an odd-mana turn, it presumably works with Death Knight hero powers (for classes with access to even-cost heroes) and the body isn't bad for the cost. Meanwhile, with the Justicar power you need to play an even number of odd-mana cards to use all Mana on an even turn (except on turn 2), a Death Knight hero power overrides it, and not only is the body understated but it costs 9 so you can't hero power the same turn.
And for all the people saying Quest Hunter - have fun skipping your turn 1 and your turn 2....
I don't think you understand how.....well....anything works. Quest turn 1 obviously but then you Hero power for 3 to face or play two 1-drops (ideally) on turn 2. What's the problem?

This card is pretty much obsvure while keleseth is in standard. The limitation is easier for keleseth and you cant draw a shitty 9drop. I cant see a deck full of 1 and 3 drops that wants to play this over keleseth. The card will eventually be good in wild when theres like 10k cards and you just want a better hero power. idk, seems bad. And loosing 3 sets sure doesnt help this card

I think you have it backwards there, buddy. You're wrong here.
The reason the Quest Hunter deck is unplayable isn't because it has an underpowered Hero Power. It's because in a deck that's forced to be aggressive (1 drops) it has to skip it's turn 1 to play the quest. With this card, you don't even get the benefit of having a competitive 2 drop.
Turn 1 Quest. Turn 2 3-damage hero power is a one-way ticket to lose-town.
Yeah Hunter probably doesn't really have enough good 3 drops to make this work. And there's still not enough good one drops for Quest Hunter in general. (And a lot are getting lost in the rotation)
Though honestly quest -> two one drops is a pretty standard quest hunter opening regardless...

Perhaps this doesn't make Quest Hunter viable (you can play two 1-drops on turn 2, like you probably would anyways). But my point is it doesn't make it worse.

Unlike greymane I think this could actually work. some upgraded hero powers are extremely powerful, specifically thinking about warrior here. it only remains to be seen what class can run such a horrible condition
Any kind of control deck I think would hurt way too much from the loss of even cards.. but a hyper aggressive hunter deck with only 1 and 3 drops could work.. throw in leeroy.. it depends on the rest of the meta.. but a deck without healing is going to have a hard time dealing with that 3 damage a turn
.........you're suggesting adding a 9-drop to an aggro deck?
Maybe it could be run in the same vein as a patches. If you ever draw it, it pulls your deck down, but if not then an upgraded hero power could be a big deal.
The war axe nerf was a buff this whole time!

Probably the most logical Deck for this card so far.
Everyone talking about control warrior but my sleeper deck for this card?
Q U E S T H U N T E R
Thats the kind of optimism i like to see! lol
Am a budget player trying to create fun and interesting decks. Sorry for bad spelling.
