For me... just this side of bad. ya it will fit in with some egg decks and it is heal but in control, killing something you control on board to heal is a desperation move. Not for me
Of course it's a really non-competitive deck, but Dark Pact adds consistency and much needed, amazing sustain, considering that this is essentially a handlock deck in which you will therefore be tapping as much as possible.
This card is not good. What can you really sacrifice in control where you need the heal? Not much. Aggro doesn't want it. Zoo neither. Mid-range is the only type that can really make use of it, and it's a terrible tempo and value loss. I don't think it'll see much play, unless the tools currently available to warlock are not enough to stay alive. I highly doubt that tho.
Egg? 4 manas 5/5 restore 8 life sounds good to me.
Ya this card is good in egg/terodax lock but that's about it. 4 mana 5/5 is fair but requiring 2 specific cards and using two cards to get the extra 8 heal is actually still pretty awful. You might often times not even heal the full 8 just to break the egg.
Iron hid is 5 armor which can be better than heal 8, sees no play and that doesn't even sacrifice a minion.
This card is garbage. Blizzard really over values healing/lifesteal. Hardly any cheap healing sees play and life steal minions turned out to be garbage for the most part. Obsidian statue is decent but life steal isn't the main thing that makes it good, though it's a nice bonous since the minion has taunt and lots of stats. The deathrattle on it is probably the more impactful part.
The card doesn't need an "activator". In fact, if you kill it yourself, you will lose every game. The card is bad enough as is, don't make it even worse.
How does this compare to other health gain cards for Warlock? Sacrificial Pact - Can be used on any card with a greater gain of health (+3) for 1 more mana. Overall more flexible. Drain Soul - Pretty average for a heal but combos well with spell power and doubles as a clear. Much better than this card. Lesser Amethyst Spellstone - Probably the best health gain card in Warlock. A Drain Soul on crack is pretty great.
So it is weaker than other sources of heals and does not help the board state but rather detracts from it. Should only be used on small minions but if you are running multiple small minions, you are probably a Zoolock and dont need this card. No spot or need in any current decks.
Why do people rank this so high? In zoo, you don't care about you health that much, and care a lot about board control. In control, where you care about your health, you also want to play big, powerful minions. Healing for 8, is less than 3 mana (Healing Touch), and it is very unlikely that the minion you have in your board is worth those 2 mana (note: the minion in your board in also worth the card you used to play it, and cards are very valuable).
This would have been perfect in my Dreadsteed deck. Really wish they hadn't nerfed it...

For me the major downside of this card is the cost.
Control must have to run Geist as a tech, for 0 manas will see play.
damn pretty good. Probably will see play as Warlock needs heal
Zing! 8 life and Meat Wagon->Summoning Portal activator LOL
This card is insane with Blood Bloom/Cho'Gall when you want to cheap out your seals for the New Warlock Legendary.
Cries in sacrificial pact
Wow........Warlock likey
This is actually dope. I've had loads of fun with warlock running Devilsaur Egg, Ravenous Pterrordax, Void Terror, Humongous Razorleaf, Faceless Shambler, and then normal handlock stuff like Twilight Drake, Mountain Giant, and Sunfury Protector.

Cheap cost. Good with minions with good deathrattles (eggs) and has a 8 heath heal with it.
I like this card.
