This reminds me of the old shaman cards(the ones that nobody played and made the class a joke for more than 2 years) Whats the point of Overload on this cards?Every other class spell that discover something cost only 1 mana.
Cant feel bad for Shaman now perfect timing for bad cards.
No way midrange shaman would bring this in their decks. However, control shaman definitely will
Firstly, shamans are known for huge swingy cards that slap overload on them, so realistically, with a card like this, since you are already overloaded, you want to discover something not necessarily a slap on curve minion but something that brings future value, which means big minions or some form of removal. In worst case scenarios, you would discover either dust devil, ancestral knowledge, or totem golem, but either way, most of the shaman overload cards are huge tempo swings that have a ridiculously big impact. Heck, if you discover earth elemental, thats going to be huge in a control matchup, or against another aggro deck, discovering a lightning storm or even chain lightning is rather nice.
If this card gave no overload, then I'd say its definitely better than journey below. However since it does, and its awkward with synergies with tunnel trogg and spirit claws, then this card is on par with journey below, maybe slightly better
Yeah, I think this might be deceptively good. The card pool is actually relatively small. Like what's the chance to just discover Doom Hammer?
I feel the same way. It's like a Raven Idol but with a much more controlled environment to pick a card from. Having Overload is actually a bonus as you can pick it again if you don't get a good choice the first time around.
What if you just...played Doomhammer instead of this?
Midrange shaman is so good that a 4 mana 7/7 isn't good enough to make it in that deck. I'm not sure what this card does in this deck that warrants a spot over anything else.
Ancestral Knowledge is better than this in aggro shaman.
Mayyybe you play this in control for the chance in finding extra earth elementals or board clears. but i'm not sure...
- Jade Claws: Only if playing Jade golem I guess...
- Stormforged Axe: Can be good, but usually you rather choose a higher mana cost;
So basically out of the 18 options, only one is trully bad ( Dust Devil ) I don't think it is as good as Journey Below, but it is probably as good as the I Know a Guy even it costing (1) overload more. Probably Reno Shaman could use this card, not sure if this is better than Jeweled Scarab or Lotus Agents, probably not.
I like a lot discover because is the most close we have to a sideboard, this card can find a mass removal vs aggro or a big minion vs control, the overload in this card is for buff trogg and elemental.
I get that it's flavorful and all, but this card is much worse than both of those.
I think you could argue that it's better than I Know a Guy since overload cards I think are slightly better than taunt minions on average - plus this has the option of choosing between minions or spells so there's more flexibility and opportunity to find reach. The overload 1 doesn't seem great but it does boost Tunnel Trogg so it's not completely useless. That said coming from someone who plays a lot of rattle rogue while I love Journey Below it is one of the cards that I would consider cuttable flex and I just don't know that this card will be good enough to make the cut in most shaman decks.
Overload is a totally different beast than Taunt and Deathrattle though.
Overload has a much smaller card pool to select from than either of the other two, and a lot of the Overload cards are amazing removal of some form or another. Need a big minion? This can find you one. Need a heal? This can get you the new 3/6. Need a board wipe? This can get you one. Weapon? Have a Doomhammer.
There are 3 weapons, 6 minions, and 9 spells that have Overload in them in Standard. I'm not going to try to do the math, but the odds of Stormforged Axe, Totem Golem, and Forked Lightning being your picks are slim. This card is pure value.

And these are ALL class cards so usually better cards
I know, right?
This card right here, THIS F-ING CARD, is exactly how to tell apart those who play Shaman because they like the class and those who play it because it's FotM.
I will definitely run this in my giants shaman. It can give me board clear when I need it, heal when I need it or another giant when I need it. Card is insane, most of the people saying the card is bad have only ever worked with midrange shaman which is a deck that doesn't want this card. It's a really really good control card because of what the overload options are.
I don't think anyone has mentioned that it has Overload itself, so it can discover itself. Not that it make the card better, but it's something I thought I would point out.

raven idol for shamans
♥ ¡hola mundo! ♥ hello world! ♥ привет мир! ♥ こにちわ せかい! ♥
Waaaay too expensive. I suppose the point is to remove the overload or benefit from it somehow, but still...
Minions with Overload:
- Fireguard Destroyer: Not bad card to get;
- Flamewreathed Faceless: Pretty good card;
- Totem Golem: Not bad card to get, not sure if picking a 2 mana is the right choice;
- Earth Elemental: In some circumstances can be pretty good;
- Jinyu Waterspeaker: Pretty good card;
- Dust Devil: The only BAD card to get in my opinion;
Spells with Overload:
- Ancestral Knowledge: Pretty good, drawing is always good.
- Lightning Bolt: Probably don't want to choose a 1 mana spell, but not that bad;
- Stormcrack: Sometimes can be usefull, not that bad;
- Feral Spirit: Can be good sometimes;
- Lightning Storm: Pretty good against some decks;
- Lava Burst: Good when needed to remove a important target or finish the oponent;
- Elemental Destruction: Probably one of the best cards you can get if playing from behind;
- Forked Lightning: Not amazing, but in the right circumstances can be good;
- Finders Keepers: Unless all the other 2 options are bad, or you are trying to use more spells (Arcane Giant) this is probably not the best choice;
Weapons with Overload:
- Doomhammer: Pretty good!
- Jade Claws: Only if playing Jade golem I guess...
- Stormforged Axe: Can be good, but usually you rather choose a higher mana cost;

mally shaman with arcane golems here i come
I've recently been fooling around with a deck Unbound Elementals in it, so this card looks kind of fun to me.
I call it bad, but...
this is one of those cards where you wonder if bad card can make deck good
This card should cost 0...........?

Yo dogg, I heard you like overload...
Overload is a good thing in many cases. Buff the trogg.

Without the Overload, I think this card will be insane in the current Midrange Shaman archetype.
People were complaining about MR Shaman, and now people are also complaining about this card being bad. You cant satisfy the best of both worlds.
No one remembers Unbound Elemental? The life gain on that thing would be OP if it worked like Tunnel Trogg.
Still good enough for Control since you usually just pass turns with hero power spam.
“I’M A SHADOW, ONE THAT NO LIGHT WILL SHINE ON. AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW ME, YOU WILL NEVER SEE THE DAY.”
Both Reno and Aggro are cancer!
