I dunno about this one. What dragons will you have left in your hands when this one dies? And which dragons do you actually want to pull out from your hand? Battlecry + Dragons is a thing.
Question. How does it work if you have Deathwing, Dragonlord on the battlefield and then play Deathwing, would your hand get removed first or not?
Surely Deathwing battlecry will trigger first which discards hand and destroys board then Deathwing, Dragonlord deathrattle triggers on the empty hand.
I'm less then impressed. So far Blizzard hasn't added any new game mechanics or anything different to the game. It's just disappointing in the lack of effort and missed opportunities to do something really cool. It's almost like they are afraid to make any powerful cards or anything will different, neat, or game changing effects. They're playing it safe too safe. The meta will be like it is now but with weaker versions of cards and no secret pallys in standard mode. It could be worse like what Duelyst did by breaking their game.
The more I think about this card the worse it gets. In what matchup is this good? Not face decks because it's too slow. Not warrior because they'll brawl whirlwind execute you. Not priest because they'll steal it or lightbomb you. Most of the time this is worse than Deathwing.
You could make the same arguments regarding Ysera and yet it's a staple in every dragon deck. This is a bit like Ysera, in the sense that even if it's destroyed on the turn you play it, you still get at least another minion on the board.
No, No, No ... sorry, but you are all blinded by the "big dragon" - This card doesn't draw you any card nor does it guarantee a minion on the board, you need to have another high impact dragon in your hand by turn 10 for it to actually be good and even in that case, you spend 2 cards, not one! Ysera for example draws you new cards and comes a turn earlier, this is a huge difference!
Additionally, New Deathwing basically requires you to not play one clunky finisher vs. control but several! I really don't get how you can be that hyped about this card
Well, obviously, you have to set it up, the same way you control if you want Chillmaw's deathrattle to take effect. This isn't a Dr.10 that you mindlessly play on turn 10.
Yes, and this is why it isn't good ...
for 10 mana you want a card that 1. wins you the game if unchecked 2. Leaves you something when it is removed immediately, and 3.affects the board immediately, i.e. summons a taunt, removes opponents creatures ...
The new Deathwing excels in only 1.5 points:
1. he wins when unchecked as a 12/12,
2. but he only leaves you sth behind with setup, this is why it is 0.5
3. He just does fucking NOTHING the turn he is played that prevents you from loosing
Now, tell me a meta where you can reliably go to 10 mana, make sure that you still have impactful Dragons in your hand and survive another turn where you do not interact with the opponents board ... Hint: There never has been a period in Hearthstone History where these 3 prerequisites were fulfilled in more than 3 % of matchups you were facing in ranked! And you really believe standard will change all that? Even if it is significantly slower I would much rather play C'Thun, N'Zoth or even Varian on 10 mana...
P.S. and now I completed my 1000 posts, to the dude "hoping" that my 1000st will be constructive, happy?!
Overrated card. A whole turn for 12-12 creature, which will be removed, silenced, disabled or just ignored for turn or two. And in most scenarios Deathrattle effect wont be triggered. Also u need a lot of big dragons in hand to get value > weak early game or less profit. In my opinion this card will not be popular.
All you naysayers. "It isn't good because you have to set it up." lol are you kidding me. Do you WANT a Hearthstone in which we all just mindlessly play the biggest minions every turn and put no thought into a deck and our play? "He does nothing on the turn he is played that prevents you from winning." You can say that about LITERALLY EVERY MINION EVER that isn't a taunt or charge.

You don't need multiple finishers for this guy to be good. If the death rattle summons a Hungry Dragon and an Azure Drake it is still very good considering you got a 12/12. The main problem I see is you need to play a lot of dragons for this guy to be good and unless they release more (no more dragon legends we know) it will be more efficient to just play the few you have from hand

for 10 mana you want exactly that, a finisher that has a high shot at winning the game and has a way to affect the board immediately and regardless of what you did before, or at least, like N'zoth or C'thun, with prerequisites that come naturally out of the construction of your deck! This has nothing to do with what we want Hearthstone to be ffs, but simply with the way Hearthstone is ...
You imply me prefering "mindless" play because I just analyse heartstone the way it is and do not live in a litte Timmy-World where the really big dragons have to be good ... I suppose being a naysayer to you is what you should be if you want to have success at this game ;)

dude, what are you trying to say and what are we discussing now: How we want Hearthstone to be - this is another subject and I didn't say a single word about my preferences - or whether this particular card will be good in the game hearthstone is and probably will continue to be?!
please enlighten me, what do you want to be talking about?!
I want Hearthstone to be nothing but face hunters, aggro shaman, and brainless paladins. So I too can be successful.
poor baby, I think we leave the conversation here... you will have fun with your dragons, I will be where people actually play to win ... thankfully (or sadly for me, because I like free wins) the ladder system will keep us from actually playing against each other!
Is it just me, or is this card WILDLY OP in wild, but only pretty good in Standard?
What makes it OP in Wild versus Standard?
The wide range of dragons in wild vs. standard.
Wild has a schlew of dragons with tons of varying costs, making it more practical to use Deathwing, Dragonlord as one of the backbone cards of a deck.
Standard, however--as it stands--has far less dragons, and all those dragons cost a crapload more. You're making it harder on yourself because, to maximize this card's effectiveness, you want a few dragons in hand before he hits the board. Harder setup for this card to get max use in standard instead of wild.
If this set releases more dragons, I 100% retract this statement. As it stands, however, it'll still be a good standard card, but not good enough to be the same card it can be in wild.
But there were no dragons introduced in Naxx or GvG, so, for the next year, both Wild and Standard will have the same number of dragons. There is no difference until BRM and TGT get phased out in 2017.
I want Hearthstone to be nothing but face hunters, aggro shaman, and brainless paladins. So I too can be successful.

THESE CARDS ARE UNPLAYABLE GARBAGE
There I said it. Can i get free wins too?

Perhaps it'll be good with blood warriors if you can whirlwind/duplicate all the ones it pulls from hand
