What are your initial impressions of Rogue in Standard?
Are there any Rogue decks that you love to play as?
Are there any Rogue decks you can't stand playing against?
Rogue feels pretty dead for me right now. Keeping in mind I haven't tried the N'zoth and aggro rogue decks which are rated quite highly on hearthpwn right now. I have been trying to piece together a C'thun rogue but with the currently I've seen alot of evolve shaman decks in ranked and it has been a nightmare to try maintain board control with "vanilla" minions while they have 2 mana 3/4 and 0 mana 5/5 taunt, i find that i run out of cards far too quickly trying fight for board because of these high value minions. Rogue also seems to be lacking in the aoe department in this current patch, dark iron skulker is really expensive and can only hit damaged minions (which really sucks when you realise you can't backstab + dark iron skulker). I think this is mostly due to the removal of blade flurry and the loss of all the good deathrattle cards that made it easy for raptor rogue to gain tempo (rip nerubian egg) and get solid board so that you didn't really need aoe. At this moment im experimenting with doomsayer and conceal/vanish combo to compensate for lack of aoe.
I agree that Rogue is in better shape now than before WoG. However, I also agree that it desperately lacks a board clear. That said, Rogue is also really fun to play with, and is shaping up as a tier 2 class.
I am currently having a blast with with Miracle Yogg Rogue, very similar to the list Dog runs.
Edwin van cleef is superb in this meta and would be my number one craft. Xaril is also great, albeit a tad more inconsistent. Shadowcaster is great fun for a laugh, and is more than useful as well. I personally would hold off crafting any other rogue cards (except prep, evic etc. if you don't already have them) because you will get them in packs anyway.
Looking from a neutral side, Yogg and Nzoth are awesome, and Thalnos is as useful as always.
I think Rogue is the dark horse of Standard. Everyone thinks Shaman owns the meta and will continue to do so, but to me Rogue is going to give the Shamans a very serious run for their money (with The Coin! Lots and lots of them. I am looking at you, Tomb Pillager).
Some context: I started playing Hearthstone in April 2014. For a couple of months I played Mage exclusively but then made the switch to Warlock and have stayed that way for two whole years. As the cards started being revealed for Whispers of the Old Gods, I noticed that Rogue could have a few serious advantages over other classes in the new meta:
When Hearthpwn had the exclusive for Xaril, Poisoned Mind (fantastic work on the reveal, BTW - super classy presentation) I was kind of like "Meh, it's ok. Why would anyone play this card at 4 Mana?". Oh, silly Warlock logic. After I started properly studying up on Rogue closer to the release by watching a few expert players go at it, I realised Xaril is probably one of the coolest cards in the game. And you also get two more chances to Stealth with Fadeleaf Toxin. Nice.
So, I did the unthinkable. For the first time in two years I switched classes exclusively to Rogue on the introduction of Standard. I didn't even own Preparation. Seriously.
I love all the Rogue decks. I haven't learnt Mill yet, but that is next on the list. Even just Vanilla C'Thun is super super fun. Turn 8 Brann Bronzebeard and Shadowcaster, turn 9 Blade of C'Thun (old gods help you if Brann is still out!), turn 10 Brann and The Coin and C'Thun? YES, THANK YOU!
To paraphrase one of the coolest movies ever - by the end of the first day I didn't miss Warlock.
The most shocking thing for me is how calm I feel playing the game now. With Warlock, I just felt stressed all the time. Constantly racing to get and keep my stuff on the board, burning my Health down with draw, etc. Rogue? I just sit back and relax. Play a minion on turn 1? That's ridiculous :) I often don't play a minion until turn 3 or even 4 and I am in complete control of the board. By turn 6 it is obvious to my opponent that they better move very quickly if they want a chance to win. Even against other C'Thun decks I am usually confident that by turn 9 the game is mine.
Blizzard have done a great job with Standard and Whispers of the Old Gods. Super happy Hearthstone player here :)
Rogue is always the best class to play. Even when it's the worst class, it's the best class to play.
Things you have to craft:
Um... Xaril, Vancleef and Bloodmage are really really good, but you don't actually need them, they do have replacements for us poorer players.
Gadgetzan and Journey Below are also really good, but they're just rares, so you probably already do have them. I can't say any of the epics (besides Prep, of course) are must-crafts either, they're good in specific/fun decks, but only situationally.
Tomb Pillager and Dark Iron Skulker are staples, but you can't actually craft them.
I'd say auctioneer and prep are both must crafts, above legendaries are good to have. Patient assassin (although can be too slow) is generally a decent threat card
What are your initial impressions of Rogue in Standard?
Very good, but I guess we not going to see much rogue on ladder, for two motives: 1- any rogue deck is a difficult deck to play, 2- Is a class who need a lot of work to build a nice deck.
Rogue will be the last class to have a "staple decklist", but I guessing it will be a very strong one.
Are there any Rogue decks that you love to play as?
Miracle. But In having a very hard time to play it for now.
Are there any Rogue decks you can't stand playing against?
The stupid Yogg deck. Doenst matter if any player played perfect until this cards hits, it will be decided by a coin flip. So lame...
I like the new control C'Thun Reno Rogue, it is very interactive and fun deck to play with.
Rogue might not be a top-tier class right now (compared to Shaman), but it is definitely in a better spot than the era between LoE and Old Gods. It has lots of potential to be solid going 1 or 2 months in after this Old Gods expansion.
I was definately interested in Xaril when he was first announced, but then I fell in love after getting him out of a Journey Below, and haven't regretted crafting him since.
I've mostly been focusing on a Miracle Leeroy deck (Which miiight be a bit gimmicky right now, I'll admit), which has been doing decent. While Blade Flurry nerf certain hurts Rogue's AoE (A lot, even), I feel like it's got some useful tools this expansion.
I'd like to test N'Zoth rogue a bit more, and while C'Thun is on my list, it's not a top priority (Yeah Blade of C'Thun can give you one of the biggest C'Thuns in the game, but Rogue doesn't have a good way to stall out on it's own, and because that's their only real C'Thun card, it'd only be helpful against Control Decks).
As far as I'm concerned, Xaril is a must craft if you're focusing on a deck with Auctioneers, and might even have some use elsewhere.

Nat Flippin-Pagle gets corrupted, but the Mighty Millhouse Manastorm doesn't?!
Before Launch I was thinking that rogue was really getting crap for this expansion. Add the blade flurry nerf and I figured I would see even less rogue. But wow they really ended up in a great spot, IF blade flurry was not already nerfed it would have been a ridiculously OP class, even as is, I would say top three. Its nice to see rogue and Shaman back on top.....
I believe that a new Rogue deck using Shadowcaster, Blade of C'Thun, and/or Xaril, Poisoned Mind will emerge after the meta is settled. The potential value on all three of these minions is way to strong to ignore. I am currently testing C'Thun Rogue and Tempo Rogue in standard. So far they have been decent, but nothing amazing. I still think someone will "solve" one of these neo-rogue decks after some time. The only Rogue deck I truly hate playing against is mill, but I don't think the deck is or ever was actually viable. Honestly, I love playing just Rogue in general. Typically it requires higher thinking than other decks, which makes games generally more fun to play. Sequencing cards is a big part of many Rogue decks which can also be incredible fun to do.
I think that the card Xaril, Poisoned Mind is a fantastically designed card too. While it is maybe not the most powerful legendary minion, it certainly is useful. The Toxin cards that are generated from Xaril are fantastic, as they are better than Spare Parts (which are not bad in their own respect). Try this one out people, the card is fun, useful, and cool!
Also, just wanted to say hello to everyone, this is my first post. Hope everything formatted itself right.
Currently enjoying Twin Gods Reno Rogue (Cthun/NZoth) and it is a on of fun! Playing a Thistle Tea and the results are insane. Trip Veklor/Xaril/Shadowcaster is too sweet!
Speaking of Thistle Tea, what does everyone think about the card? I believe it has some potential to replace Sprint in certain Rogue decks, but it might flop when played.

I think Rogue is the best class right now. Miracle is the best deck, and midrange/deathrattle isn't far behind. It's fantastic when played correctly and can beat pretty much anything (has some trouble with aggro Shaman now that Flurry's gone). I say this a lot and it's not to brag or anything, but I think the reason not as many people are playing miracle Rogue is because of its difficulty. It's a really hard deck to master and can totally flop if you play it wrong.
Rogue is probably one of the best 3 classes right now.. It has 3 totally different archetypes that are very good.. Miracle and Malyrogue are tier 1 decks, Deathrattle tier 2.. I am playing only rogue and paladin these days until I will get those classes gold as well and I am having much fun.. I play malyrrogue, I thing I prefer it to Miracle rogue, and switch to Deathrattle sometimes for fun..
I crafted Xaril (that I use in miracle and deathrattle rogue) and I think it is a good value combo card that is very fun to play with. Edwin is unstoppable in this meta so he is a must craft. Thalnos is a irreplaceable card as well because it packs that extra 1 damage you want to do combined with a nice card draw..
I don't have much experience playing with rogue because I didn't like oil rogue and the old miracle archetypes and I recently crafted Malygos.. I used to like the old beta tempo rogue.. Rogue is a high skill class to play properly so it needs a lot of practice to use those decks in their max efficiency
Speaking of Thistle Tea, what does everyone think about the card? I believe it has some potential to replace Sprint in certain Rogue decks, but it might flop when played.
Thistle Tea is almost strictly an arena card.
I don't even think Thistle Tea is an arena card (it wouldn't be at the top of my picks at least). I agree with what michaelwinston said, there is huge potential for it in the new Reno-Rogue. After checking out a few lists, I saw that every card in these lists is either a) a card to survive until late game or b) a huge game-winning threat, both of which are very copy-able in my opinion I wouldn't mind getting three Eviscerates turn three with Preparation + Thistle Tea.
I would remove Gang Up for sure, that's the opposite of tempo and totally useless in this deck. Also Deadly Poison is questionable, same with Cutpurse and Shadowstep. I'd maybe even put Finley in the deck, this isn't really the kind of deck to run Deadly. You could use Hucksters over Cutpurse, or even Undercity Valiant as another tempo option. Shadowstep doesn't have much synergy, and Cutpurse is just too weak and not even beneficial for this deck. Definitely work in a Bloodmage Thalnos and Edwin VanCleef, also you need a finisher because I see this deck running out of steam and just losing. Something like Rag would be good, especially with Shadowcaster.

I had been saving my dust and have since crafted Edwin VanCleef and all the Classic must-have Rogue cards. I was lucky enough to open a Blade of C'Thun, Xaril, Poisoned Mind (I literally w00ted out loud), and two Journey Belows from my packs. I quickly crafted Shadowcaster.

Just going to post my current Tempo Rogue deck here. I'm still testing out a lot of things, so feel free to criticize.
I don't really like Cutpurse in the deck anymore. I'll probably try Undercity Huckster instead. Defias Ringleader is also a little silly in the deck imo. Any suggestions?
