Hey, a bunch of people have asked about rewards to the upcoming dungeon run mode and I had an interesting idea I don't know if anyone has thought of yet. I'm sure Team 5 is testing a bunch of ideas but this one seems really unique compared to the types of awards they have given out previously in other modes like Tavern Brawl and Arena.
My personal favorite idea is giving away wild/basic cards for winning a dungeon run and this would allow for ftp(free to play) players to build a collection while giving older players a reason to play this mode instead of grinding ladder or squeezing out 100 gold from 3 win bonuses. The cards themselves can either function like a pack and you get a few random cards every time, or they can function similar to how dungeons in WoW work, where each week( or so ) certain cards would be available to get and by winning dungeon run you had a chance to get the sweet Lorewalker Cho as a legendary drop similar to how equipment drops in WoW. Legendaries can be gated at a copy per week or whatever time period Team 5 decides while the commons and rares can be dropped every time allowing a small but meaningful reward to winning.
Let me know if you like this idea and up-vote it so more reputable voices in the Hearthstone scene can see it too. I would love to see this type of idea implemented and give me any feedback you feel is necessary.
I voted maybe because this reward specifically: No; but any reward ever? Yes. At this point, idc, as long as Blizz gives us *something* for spending our time in this game mode.

I believe they stated we will be getting a legendary weapon on our first win, but that feels too much like the adventures to me and I would like for this game-mode to get all the players and support possible. Generally the one time rewards end with a majority of people forgetting about it.
any type of actual game-play changing rewards (gold, cards, dust) is probably just a pipe-dream, since it will dilute Blizzard's revenue stream. And definitely no legendary drops from this. Otherwise (since it is free to play), people would just build their collection in this mode.
Plus, I'm pretty sure they have already confirmed that you won't be getting cards/gold/dust from winning, just a new card back for winning with each hero.
If anything, they might add in rewards during special promotion times, kind of like the special arenas where they give us free tickets.

That is why I specified Wild cards, hence it pushes Wild like Blizzard wants while maintaining a similar amount of revenue Blizzards gets considering most of their income comes from standard packs and expansions.

How about, I dont know ... the fun and enjoyment of playing the game mode? What's with people feeling the need to be rewarded for anything they do?^^
Come to think of it, what a lucrative time I could have had when i was little and went outside to play with friends ... they could have paid me for it all that time ... what a waste, right? xD

On a more serious note, I think the card back you can get from the Dungeon Runs is a perfect reward, because as I see it - it's just a little bonus on top, as it should be. Having said that, the OP's idea is actually pretty cool, but I think it would be a little bit too much.
They will most likely do no such thing or anything similar to what you're suggesting, since they stated that they dont want players to feel forced to play the Dungeon Runs and this would most definitely do just that.
Honestly, all they need to do is allow us to complete Daily Quests in there and thats that. Easy as shit and everyone will be playin it forever.
Besides the cardback from beating the dungeon with every class, there are no rewards outside of the dungeon run. This feels really lame, especially when you consider that Blizzard's net worth is $14.746 billion. I understand that dungeon runs are a free PVE experience, but a lack of rewards disincentives people from playing and lowers the replay-ability of them. I would suggest having a small entrance fee (maybe 20 or so gold) each time, but significant rewards if you are successful including maybe keeping your deck from the dungeon run (probably means fewer legends), arcane dust, packs and gold. This would provide an opportunity for skilled players to be rewarded for the time they have spent mastering the game.
Basically, what I’m proposing is an option similar to the old arena and an alternative the current arena which is just who drafts more BS cards (I'm looking at you Bonemare). Does this seem like a good idea? Feel free to critique and comment.
I think giving wild cards would be good for blizzard
It pushes players to play wild, gives wild players more cards
plus, blizzard can benefit because the only way to get wild cards aside from dust is packs for money
Idrk
How will they benefit? Its pretty hard to get Wild cards right about now, only real way is to craft them from the dust you get from Standard packs ... that is a horrible, painful and costly way to do so. How would they benefit from making things easier for us? Im not saying im against it or that we should suffer, but your argument is that it would benefit them, no it would not.

Completely agree. All I want is to be able to do my Dailies in there and I'm happy, I don't need anything more.
I'd be surprised if we are able to complete daily quests in this mode. The quests are to encourage you to play the game against other people. Being able to complete them in Dungeon Run would be the same as letting you complete quests against the Innkeeper in solo mode.
Giving out wild cards still impacts Blizzard's revenue stream, since you can now purchase Wild packs with real money on the Blizzard site.
As much as I would like better rewards (or different ways to build your collection besides grinding on the ladder), its highly unlikely we will get any substantial rewards from this mode.

Consensus: They will never give away rewards of actual value (cards, dust, etc.)
Solution: Give away a random un-owned card back each time a player makes it all the way to the end.
They could kill two birds with one stone here. Give players a way to obtain old card backs and give people a reason to keep playing Dungeon Run. Only issue is that people who have been playing since beta will probably feel shafted, but even they could get event and promotion backs they might not have.
I honestly think Blizzard is due for a new cosmetic currency. As well as a lot more simple cosmetic bonuses. This currency could be used to buy unearned card backs, unique emotes and animations, and potentially at high costs hero portraits and gold card upgrades. The more new features they add the more opportunity to add this cosmetic currency. It solves the problem of lack of rewards in some contexts and increases people feeling of progression all while not infringing to hard on blizzard's income stream.
At this point, idc, as long as Blizz gives us *something* for spending our time in this game mode.

Because I want something for my time invested. Simple as that. I'm not saying people need to feel rewarded for whatever blah blah.
I'm saying I, me, myself, I want to be rewarded. I don't care what other people want. I find no rewards to be a lack of incentive to play. I'll probably toss a few hours into it because *gasp* I could have fun, but then it quickly becomes irrelevant. Might as well go back to ladder. Hell casual is a better spot if I'm on a losing streak so I can get packs and maybe keep playing this game.

This is a fun mode to people play and enjoy it when they feel like it. No more. It is great to get something different to mess around with. But just the fun should be enough, as it isn't the game per se. Giving specific rewards for this mode will force people to add the game into their routine grind, and spend a lot of hours on a mode different from what the game actually is (Ranked and Arena).
I don't want more weekly homework from Blizzard. I'm happy with it being an optional experience where the fun is the only reward.
What is the purpose of a run if there is nothing to run at? What’s at the end of the tunnel?
Yes the first few times it is going to feel fun and rewarding but then what? No adult would keep playing this when they can slowly feel their competitive collection fading into nothing as more and more opponents has all the best cards and you, yourself has played a little too many Dungeon Runs in order to be competitive anymore.
You’ll grow poor from playing this. Say goodbye to rank 5 and welcome rank 15. And then start complaining Hearthstone is too expensive to be competitive.
There’s an easy solution: Give the players a small reward. Maybe 10 gold/3 wins. Or if that’s too much because bosses are easier single player fodder than actual players then 10 gold if you go all the way to the last boss or even 5 gold/3 wins.
It is entirely up to Blizzard but they will 100 % be disapppointed in the amount playing this game mode if it cost players to play it. It’s what’s called Opportunity Cost (look it up) and Blizzard knows it. They are hoping we can give them a good 2018 because of the 0-reward Dungeon Runs.
I agree that this should be an optional experience. In fact I think there should be a lot more optional experiences in Hearthstone. That is why I made my suggestion above to give a reward that is a new "Costmetic" currency and then provide some new costmetic content. Since cosmetics don't affect gameplay they are a completely safe reward that doesn't force people to play the mode, but still provides something to work toward within the optional game modes. (this should also be how they implement a wider achievement system, with this new currency as the primary reward)
Tbh, setting up something like Overwatch's Arcade would be great imo. You can earn 1 pack for every 3 complete runs you do, up to 3 packs per week. Then the dungeon "resets" every Tuesday. The packs could either be classic packs or K&C packs to keep the flavor of the expansion. Then in the 2019 Standard reset the mode goes away.
This would be a great way for newer players to bolster their collection and for veteran players to stay engaged in a stale meta. If the mode is as hard they are claim it to be, not every player would be getting 3 free packs each week.
Cards as pve reward is unlikely, since dungeons can be run indefinitely and for free.
I think they should allow Quests there, as suggested, and possibly a limited reward analogous to that of Brawls: 1 non-Classic pack, or 100 gold per week.
I am also positive that they will add some limited reward, as they will realise that as soon as novelty drops (soon), the mode will be dropped by the vast majority of players.
