I think Dead Ringer and Reckless Experimenter will be great cards for Quest Priest, between the two of them the quest can easily be completed turn 5 ready for turn 6. Zerek seems bad now but also seems like the kind of card Blizzard can't help themselves to support in the future. Topsy Turvy might be boring, but I think it's an unbelievable card for Inner Fire Priest especially if everyone is running around with Geists to counter Druid. Omega Medic seems like a situational card which can be very good in the right meta, but also very underwhelming in others. Unfortunatley, the other priest cards seem very bad, especially the legendary spell. Regardless, if Quest priest can become a viable deck, I will totally ignore the amount of garbage for priest this expac. I don't want to get into a lengthy meta prediction, but I bet Archbishop Benedictus is about to be a total superstar in the coming meta.
Deathringer is amazing and Reckless Experiment is a niche option but generally bad outside of specific combos because you dont always want to immediately kill your deathrattles.
Overall one of the weakest sets of cards for a class ever, if not the weakest Ive seen.

My counter to experimenter being bad is how fast it lets you complete the quest. With Dead Ringer, you should be drawing a crazy amount of deathrattle minions. Using experimenter and just dumping 3-4 death rattles from your hand just to complete Amara and play her turn 6 is totally viable against aggro. Against control, save her for some juicier comboes because I agree you don't want to kill them off immediately
LOL! OMG! Boyz! U forgot that C`tun is a Deathrattle minion!!! Hello! And its 10-10! & if u silence a 1-1 copy of it it will be 10-10! And we can have 80 health with quest! And tell me please! With all the card how many times can we summon & resummons C`Tun??? JUST THINK ABOUT IT!!! LOL!
None of that matters if you die on turn 5.
That's Priest biggest issue right now is that it typically just falls so behind on board without Duskbreaker you typically just die before Psycic Scream lands, and that isn't even enough to recover sometimes.
Priest needs some sort of viable early game that doesn't just get shit stomped by every other aggro/tempo deck.
I really like Death Ringer, I think it might push quest priest out of the meme realm and into competitiveness. Experimenter looks super cool and its one of my favorite cards but I think it needs better synergy to be consistent, right now the only amazing combos are Eggs and Voodoo Doll (which is a terrible card for Priest otherwise). I really don't like the legendary spell, I simply cannot imagine the deck that uses it.
Bro, I play quest priest in rank 6, it's not in the meme realm, it destroys control and can easily win vs aggro, at least the version that I play. So I think that new card could change the deck to use Cubes. It only makes it a more competetive deck than before

I understand it's good in certain situations, but say for example you have Reckless experimenter on board and your hand is Bonedrake, a couple of reactive spells, cairne bloodhoof and an obsidian statue.
Then you can't play anything because Experimenter will cause you to lose value in that instance, its a good card with Voodoo Doll and Deathringer but with most other deathrattles you will lose value. I definitely see the card being good, but it's downsides are major.
Dead Ringer is great for Quest Priest. Luckily, Quest package leaves enough room for different kinds of styles and winconditions. A good improvement of old stuff that was previously off-meta.
Other than that, Priest got only a deathrattle improvement in the direction of combo (and value, but that will prove too slow).
Like Egg Priest or similar. Which is kinda silly for the class tbh, even if it proves competitive.
In the meanwhile, Big Priest in Wild stays basically uncontested at warping the class style around it.
Well getting back to the thread after all the cards have been revealed and I feel the same way as what most of you have been mentioning. That is that the cards are in general boring. It also seems we have to really on one deck (quest priest) which I personally never really liked for priest I guess...
Maybe quest priest will be a t1 deck in the next meta but I am afraid that, looking at the power level of the cards for other classes, as priest we will really struggle.
I hope I'm wrong and we have a nice new deck to play but I don't see it now unfortunately.
The only thing that I liked is death ringer. Then the rest of cards are not good like copy that, copy there. I mean Priest has no originality in this expansion
Overall one of the weakest sets of cards for a class ever, if not the weakest Ive seen.
Agreed. Witchwood was pretty weak too which makes this feel a little worse. I like Dead Ringer and Reckless could be pretty decent for tempo before most big board clears if everything goes right. But the rest are meh.
The previous worst 3 expansions for Priest cards imo:
Witchwood: Chameleos, Divine Hymn, Squashling, Vivid Nightmare, Glitter Moth, Holy Water, Quartz Elemental, Coffin Crasher, Lady in White, Nightscale Matriarch.
TGT: Flash Heal, Power Word Glory, Confuse, Convert, Wyrmrest Agent, Shadowfiend, Holy Champion, Spawn of Shadow, Paletress.
ONK: Forbidden Shaping, Embrace the Shadows, Hooded Acolyte, Shadow Word Horror, Shifting Shade, Darkshire Alchemist, Power Word Tentacles, Twilight Darkmender, Herald Volazj.
I think, now that I read through the other comments it's indeed likely I'm not enthousiast because both witchwood and now boomsday indeed mostly feautured week cards for priest and they seem to be "all over the place". So there is no synergy whatsover between expansions. This expension no dragon synergy, no aoe. And we get deathrattles only, which basically only have the quest to work with.
All in all feels very crappy. I hope my highlander priest in wild will be somewhat vaible still (at least to lvl 15 or 10 maybe ...)
Zerek, Master Cloner seems really powerful and sticky with the right support cards. If you can get a couple copies out with the deathrattle activated...there's no way your opponent has enough removal and/or silence to completely remove him. It can quickly snowball out of control with Vivid Nightmare and the 5/5 copy card. You also will just want to run small buffs like PW:Shield and the little buff card that sometimes allows you to also clone.
I agree, the only deck i will try out this expansion for priest probably only contains the reckless experimenter and the 2 manamdeathrattle guy and a lot of neutral mechs with deathrattle/magnetic. And than some buff cards to keep the pressure up. I think the 0/2 dude will be too slow. Not being able to do damage t1 (or buff t2) will most likely cause the guy to fail. We will see though, never know.
The deck will just be a sort of agro deck which will probably not work, but unfortunately the only way I see priest can go atm.
I would have really liked something else to do with priest, but it seems that will not be the case :-(
Priest is just too popular. Despite being good or not, priest class is just fun to play. So now is the time for priest to suck again, just like a few years ago I guess.
That's exactly what I'm thinking too. If the most popular class gets good cards then more than 20% will play this class and people will complain that class is too good. That's what they never want to happen.
However, looking at druid.... I'm afraid all we're going to see is them.

My problem with the priest weakening is that seems Blizzard is making it on purpose. And i paid for the preorder like the Druid players did... i can see a bit of difference in what we received in exchange!
No, simply because Boomsday was finished when Kobolts vs Catacombs was released. Back then Priest was strong, so they created some bad cards for us. That's the issue with Hearthstone: they can't react to the meta, when the cards get released in reaction to the meta more than half a year ago.
Still: it would be nice if some at least had a brain and realize how bad the standard-cards for priests are, and that without any good AoE Priest is totally garbage.

They tried doing too much for priest this time round.
Tried Deathrattle theme: 2 good cards
Tried cloning: Really mediocre cards
tried spells: REALLY REALLY MEH CARDS
