After watching the first theories by my favorite streamers Kible and Trump I am a bit confused who is right about this one. Obviously, Kibler is an obsessed Priest player and will most likely try to make the new Priest archetype work somehow. However, will he pull that off or do you think Trump's statement about Priest being literally dead for the next 4 months will prove to be true?
just wait a bit! TODAY (i repeat, TODAY!) un'goro will be released... the game needs some time to create a new meta and than you'll see it... absolutely no sense to make this kind of question right now...
Well, with the dragon package gone, Priest obviously loses its most prominent strength. I also believe the quest is too weak to be meaningful any any way compared to other quests, like Warlock or Hunter quest for example. The silence aspect seems to be to slow still I believe. Right now I don't really see any meaningful Priest impact on the meta, even though I hope there is.

Well, we're all theorycrafting right now as we are waiting for the gates to Un'Goro to open up... so NOW is the best time to raise this question imo ;)
I think Nzoth Priest will be a tier 3 deck because the deathrattles are too weak and the 40 health won't help them a lot due to lack of big threads. Personally I think I'll get my Priest fix in wild with dragons and strong deathrattles. However, I do think Priest can be strong against other control decks simply because they can steal so many value cards:
2x cards with crystalline 2x cards with shiftshade Double that (best case scenario) with Nzoth and add a couple of more cards with Spiritsinger Umbra.
Priest had a good run but they didn't give him enough deathrattles to really make the quest work. Standard doesn't look fun at all with pirates and Jades so I'm going to be in Wild a lot.
It's not going to be dead but the matchups will change and be harder. Dragon Priest had good matchups with just about every deck even when teching anti-aggro, I think now you're just going to see it do better against control decks. I personally think the meta will slow down a little bit because although everyone is hyped up about the Hunter quest, I don't see that deck doing particularly well against Pirates still. So the Hunters will have to tech some anti-aggro as well further slowing matchups down and helping Priest get to a win condition. What that condition is may be the question, but I do think a Velen OTK deck is possibly viable now with the addition of Radiant Elemental, it'll just take time as with any combo deck and some creativity.
Every class is dead. So sayeth me. Random guy on the internet who plays card games. You are free to go on with your life enjoying each dead class. Or maybe not, you are only allowed to play tier 1 netdecks afterall. Have fun.
What was the purpose of printing cards like Drakonid and then remove most other dragons, print Kazakus and Reza, then remove Reno etc.
That is what bothers me too. So far, every time when they release new sets it seems like they completely change the philosophy of the classes. They seem push a completely different archetype for a class every 4 months, not build on previous sets. Investing dust in a legendary is like playing roulette. Maybe it will stay playable for another 4 months, but most likely not.
A good example is Krul the Unshackled. Did they finally focus on giving Warlock some demons this time round? Something useful to soften the blow of Reno moving out? NO, all I see is cards that support stupid Discolock. Cards with the BEAST tag, ffs, even the legendary. We got one demon that is sort of good with Krul.
I would have liked to see the devs at least TRY to keep the deck afloat. Now, I may as will disenchant him. Same as Raza, really. There really is no room for him in a N'Zoth/Quest deck and that is all they are pushing for Priest this season.

Of course it is the best moment for theorycrafting, we are waiting for new expansion.... but we had so much time before to do it, now IMHO is a bit late... BTW, I give you a chance: I think new meta will be build around pirate warrior, because it will still be the strongest deck until someone find a new one able to counter it not losing against the rest, so with the new legendary quest priest have a sort of new Reno (health set to 40, it's a kind of new Reno, let's say this). Priest can still use good minion with taunt/deathrattle, good spells and heal, so i think it will be present even if maybe not has tier 1. I think priest will maintain his spot in the meta. I see more troubles for warlock: no more Reno and discardlock has to prove his strength yet (the other chance is a new handlock, but without Sylvanas and Thaurissan it loses a lot)
Yes. Its not exactly dead but pretty weak. We need a super control deck and make it last till fatigue and hope for best after that. Or wait for a card in next expansion which can make use of that 40 health in game somehow. Like spend health and play minions or spells or any effect. We surely can't play aggro depending on 40 health cause meta is going to be mid range or control. Also many dragon cards are gone to wild. But few still remain including few big natural legendary dragons in classic. Let's wait and see if someone comes with any idea.
Priest does seem weaker than other classes, the quest reward isn't as strong as others, although it's the 2nd strongest body, priest might go with a highlander build, priest never really needed reno to succeed thealthough without brann on the other hand..
Kazakus and raza are quite strong really.
Also you can mix N'zoth with dragons.. operative is very strong we still have some dragons here and there I think with 7 dragons and some card draw you are fine, you can use still ysera 2 operatives 2 book wyrms one twighlight and one 8 drop dragon it's 7 dragons, getting book wyrm and operative to hit is very strong
As for early game you use the new deathrattle cards and the sorcerer card and you got a n'zoth, dragon midrange priest.. it's probably tier 3 though

They lost a lot of dragon synergy early game because of blackrock being gone. I'm sure they'll figure something out, right?
:(
I'll hope and believe so xD
-let´s negotiate: you concede and I let you live...

Dead. Dead as Birdperson.

but... yea... it's gonna be a RNG fest to win.
Seems like the two Heroes I enjoy, Priest and Warrior, is once again treated like sh!t.

I wild all the time so I'm really looking forward to the new priest decks:)

Also could try an elemental deck!
Ok so decks are:
N'zoth dragon priest
Kazakus priest
Elemental priest(midrange)
Spell slinger elemental priest
Priest will be the first class I try. A quest / One off deck I think.
in community compendium, community rated priest as second best class from the new cards, meanwhile I see threads like this one daily ?!
seems weird.
on topic: priest is not dead, it will be T2 at least !
