Standard Remedies - the Standard Variation of Natural Remedies.
(for the previous (wild) version of Natural Remedies, see the new Wild Remedies).
The objective of this deck has always been threefold:
- minimise damage to yourself (through healing/removal)
- reduce your opponent's good options
- survive long enough that your opponent dies of fatigue damage
After Old Gods was released, I tried a number of variations to make up for the loss of Poison Seeds. C'Thun and Yogg-Saron were both options in a couple of versions(Unnatural Remedies), but neither were quite there, due to relying on a single card or inherent randomness. C'Thun version would also tend to win before fatigue, and some bad draws with Yogg-Saron could make you lose the fatigue war.
So, back to basics. Core mill components + Reno with only three duplicates for healing + tempo removal + a splash of spell removal.
Early Game: Stall with Removal/Doomsayer or Coin Mukla to take early board control. Darkfisher is also good early control but sacrifice it ASAP unless you're burning cards straight off.
Play aggressively where needed, getting defensive cards down on the board but saving your brann/coldlight/naturalizes/brewmaster where possible for a massive combo. Emperor helps drop your hand-size, activate the draw combo and paints another target on the board besides your face.
Target your opponent's win conditions(against C'thun, set up a massive mill turn, etc.) and save naturalizes and mulches where necessary for late-game threats. Use your minions to control the board and be aware of combos such as Brann + Kodo/MCT to help out. Sylvanas + Mulch Sylvanas is a perfectly good Mind Control alternative against a late-game legendary. Against a N'zoth deck, save Doomsayer and a removal to wipe out the board when the enemy Sylvanas resurrects.
Still tinkering with the deck, and will update as feedback and more playtime suggest alternatives. Enjoy!
Your strategy varies wildly between control matchups and aggro matchups.
Against aggro, it's perfectly fine to drop an explosive sheep or doomsayer on turn 2, just hope you don't get owled. Your poison seeds can be combined with abomination or starfall if you've used your sheep early.
Against control, starfall is 5 damage against a minion, and you save your explosive sheep for poison seeds combo to clear the board. If you're slow to draw your second sheep, you can use either abomination or pyro+spells. Poison seeds + pyro + swipe works, but 9 times out of 10 that's a waste of two clears in one.
I tend to feed my Pyro cheap spells like Coin, Wrath, Living Roots, Raven Idol, etc. against Aggro decks. Against control decks, it's tempo fodder if you don't need it for clears.
From the released cards thus far, Cult Apothecary and Tentacle of N'Zoth are the two that seem to work best with the deck.
Eater of Secrets may be a decent card if Secret Pally survives, but it's really more of a niche card than something viable main deck.
Yeah, though I don't think they're strong enough to include in Wild, and for standard they're a far cry from what we need - something as versatile as Poison Seeds. Tentacle of N'Zoth plus a spell that kills all creatures and replaces them with 1/1 corrupted wisps? :D
With the multiple Druid nerfs, there needs to be something decent in the new expansion.
Fun and great deck.
The only problem I have is Shaman. They rush so hard and their tools to kill us is weapon and spell, which we only have a ooze and that is. All the sheep and poison seed shenanigans are useless in their push.
replacement for Mulch?
Tricky without adding duplicates. Bite might be the best of a bad lot, or a Spellbreaker.
Why not drop a Starfall instead of a Swipe?
Edit: Or drop a Starfall for a Starfire?
I've tried a few variations in the admittedly very short time since discovery.
I prefer losing Swipe over 2nd Starfall due to prevalence of 5 health minions and 2 health boards.
Having said that, Starfire for 1 Starfall might be acceptable with the slightly improved Reno odds. I'll give it a try.
I think part of the problem may be Reno Jackson, as it basically forces the deck to be less consistent for the sake of edging in that extra heal, as I'm not convinced that the version with Reno Jackson is better than the one without.
Alas for Hearthstone not having decent board clears, as that's a big reason of why aggro ran over everything since Naxx was released.
Reno has been kicking ass for me, even more so with dupes dropped by another 1.
Late game, Reno w Brewmaster destroys any aggro deck and many control decks(Antonidas, etc.). There's so many one-case-of cards already with bgh, mulch, ooze, owl, keeper, etc. and plenty of decent alternatives to other cards(starfall - starfire), (wrath - living roots) that the loss of consistency isn't that bad. We're still running doubles of the must-haves, and with a new expansion coming out that might give us even more options(in Wild). In standard, we're losing Healbot and Tree of Life so Reno will be even more required unless some super Druid Healing legendary comes along.
Draw remains an issue(if you don't get coldlights you might not find the right cards you need), but I don't think slightly more consistent removal is going to help as much as a chance at Reno's heal all.
Public Service Announcement
Poison Seeds now works with Explosive Sheep. Enjoy it while it lasts. :) (both leaving Standard format soon)
wow! Just wow! I asked for this combo since relize of sheep. It took forever for Blizz to fix it!
Aaaaaaaaaand it's gone.
I love this deck but I'm not sure about the consistency of Reno. Could you post an alternative non-Reno list of this deck, please? :)
this is the worst deck I have ever played, 1 win 8 loss, or maybe this deck is just not for me :(
Fatigue decks are among some of the hardest decks to play right in Hearthstone, as you have to anticipate what the opponent will do, and also plan out 2ish turns in advance. Learning (and playing) as many different deck types as you possibly can helps a ton, as it helps you figure out how to deal with the meta.
A lot of it is learning how to hold back cards until you absolutely need to play it, while not holding back stuff too long. Learning how to act like you are a really bad hand of Combo Druid helps a ton, at least during the climb to legend, as it can lead players to make smart plays against Combo, but really stupid plays against fatigue.
So.... with the announcement of Standard today... I'm not sure we're going to see this deck moving forward (which is a shame), unless Blizzard adds more cards in the upcoming sets to replace the GvG ones (and Poison Seeds).
what is Standard?
New format that's (currently) Basic, Classic, TGT, LoE, BRM, and the new expansion being released later this year.
I think its too early to judge Standard until we see the Spring expansion. Could be plenty there to help us out, who knows?
