UPDATE 5: SCHOLOMANCE UPDATE
Hi!
boltzmann here with a refined archetype of an older deck.
After I got tired of the meta decks these days, I came up with an idea. There were sucessful lists of Big Shaman in Asia but they ran too much of useless cards.
I present to you this beautie.
MAY: I went 28-6 to Legend rank from high Platinum (now 34-8 in legend), decktracker is broken on my laptop and I played some matches on my mobile, sorry.
JUNE SEASON UPDATE: Deck still kinda OP, tried different variations, I run Lich King instead of the weapon, since I need more value in my matchups. Deck still works. If you have trouble beating Demon Hunters, just add Lightning Storm. People are complaining about Muckmorphers but I think the card is really good. Tried a list without it and it kinda felt worse into every matchup, since you actually lose without some value on your board.
I also tried Windfury shenanigans and that was pretty fun. You don't even need it but I could beat Raza Priest with it. Now at Diamond 3, I have played chill for 2 hours, not even tryharding with still overwhelming WR.
UPDATE: I have been having a serious success with the deck. I run Sylvanas Windrunner, The Lich King and Lightning Storm, which really stops the aggro. I removed The Fist of Ra-den but definitely was a cool card here.
UPDATE 2: Hit legend again and played through dumpster legend with 79% WR Sylvanas felt too weak against aggro. I actually kept queuing into many mirrors, so I added Hex.
SCHOLOMANCE: This deck is better than ever. Lightning Bloom is a card enabling serious bullshit and Devolving Missiles improves Discolock matchup. Reincarnate is still nice and I decided to put 2 Torrents, since the card finally makes a perfect sense. I have an 85% WR so far in the new expansion, don't let this deck slip off your radar!
Basically you play a "control" deck with cheat cards - Ancestor's Call, Muckmorpher, Eureka!. You preserve deathrattles and activate them multiple times (can even have fun with Reincarnate), then you have the board, go face and win :)
This deck is good into aggro, you just need a good amount of healing. I actually won against every single Secret Mage.
Control is a bit harder but when you bait out the clears, it works well against Jade Druid or Odd Warrior.

Mulligan guide
Keep most of the time: Ancestor's Call (core card - kept always, AC in my text), Far Sight (cheating out your other cards + draw), Healing Rain (good stabilizator against aggros), Devolve (best against anything, basically)/Devolving Missiles, Lightning Bloom (you can do so much with it)
Sometimes keep: Muckmorpher (especially against aggro and/or matches without the Eureka/AC), Lightning Storm (great against aggro) Serpentshrine Portal (good for something like Hench-Clan Thug)
Rarely/never keep: Ancestral Spirit (only on coin and with AC), a big minion without a good reason (knowing you will certainly cheat it on an exact turn)
You want to draw into your other cards.
Matchup Mulligan + Guide
Demon Hunter
Odd DH is kinda concerning, keep Lightning Storm Devolve, Hagatha's Scheme and some form of healing and you should do okay. When Hench-Clan Thug goes online, destroy it with Serpentshrine Portal asap. Force them to clear Scrapyard Colossus with the weapons. If they use silence, just use Ancestral Spirit + Reincarnate.
Druid
Met a few Jades. This is tougher but if you are not hasty, you can keep up. Try to get Colossus of the Moon on the board and feed him with the Reincarnates/Spirits. They waste their Poison Seeds and lose. Execute the Ancestor's Call+Deathrattle combo.
Aggro Druid is okay. Keep any of the AoE and try to find healing. After turn 5 they lose if they don't kill you.
Hunter
Keep your AoE, you never know which Hunter deck it is. Played against one Reno Hunter and one Even Hunter.
Mage
I harvested Secret Mages with this deck so much. Keep heals and test for Counterspell often with Maelstrom Portal. They cannot remove any of your minions. Once Scrapyard Colossus gets on the board, it's game over for them.
One Quest Mage, as I can remember, generated 3 Polymorphs but I still won because of Colossus of the Moon stickyness.
Paladin
For Mech Paladin keep Devolve and Hagatha's Scheme. Basically, kill every Mech possible. Use Reincarnate, if you have it, and Fountains to stay alive.
For Odd Paladin keep Maelstrom Portal and other removals. This is a relatively easy one.
Priest
Big Priest will be an interesting game for you. Always keep Devolve and don't remove anything without it. Use AC wisely not to cheat out their big minions. Good luck with this one, and make yourself a tea when playing this match. Try to neutralize their minions with Hex and Devolve them. It's a bad matchup.
Raza Priest is one of the toughest matches. Just don't overextend and try to Muck the Colossus and Reincarnate it. Usually is enough. Be careful when they have played Kazakus.
Rogue
Did not play against any but I'd say keep AoE and Devolve, in case of both Odd Rogue or Deathrattle Rogue.
Mill Rogue is a problem, since you are a slow turtle, dump your cards to get handspace.
Shaman
Big mirror is always keeping Devolve with AC, try to mess with their board and use his AC to get your deathrattles/Reincarnates online asap. Also keep your Torrent and Devolving Missiles.
Even Shaman is a keep for Devolve and Hagatha's Scheme. Kill totems with the 3-cost spell.
Against Reno Shaman look for Far Sight and play around effects like Hex. Usually they clear some part of the board and run out of steam. Don't underestimate Mind Control Tech.
Warlock
Discolock is a bit dangerous for you, so try to heal fast and clear their board often. It's an aggro, you are favoured if you heal.
Cubelock is EZ with Devolve but really unwinnable without it, try not to be hasty and AC really carefully not to cheat out their Mal'Ganis. Plague of Flames is really a concern if you did not preserve deathrattles by Ancestral Spirit
Warrior
For Odd Warrior you should hold onto some of your minions, just to protect them from AoE. Lich King can give you some value.
Pirate Warrior is an okay aggro match for you, don't be afraid to clear in any way. Keep the Serpentshrine Portal for Ship's Cannons and Southsea Captain. Survive and win.
Few little tips
Three essentials you have to keep in mind:
- AC is also a Dirty Rat, try to disrupt combo/Reno decks with it
- Always count your health against aggro, use healing wisely
- Try to play Muckmorpher always before Eureka! or Ancestor's Call. This will prevent cheating out something you really don't want to.
Other tips
- Sometimes you don't have to go with AC or Muckmorpher on curve, better is to wait two turns and then play it with the Ancestral Spirit/Reincarnate.
- Don't be afraid to coin out an AoE, as it's more important than cheating out the minions early.
- Walking Fountain from Muckmorpher is underrated, almost always heals you for 8. So don't be sad when it happens, you want that against aggro.
- In bizare situations, Far Sight can save you. Try to play it on curve to draw a 1 mana AC, 3 mana Eureka! or a cheaper minion.
Other cards I tried
- Kel'Thuzad - does okay but it's unreliable in this meta, you always want to cheat out the Taunt, sticky or heal. Or the Y'Shaarj who summons one of those.
- Ancestral Knowledge - keeps you from getting the combo done. Most of the time you draw big minions and burn something + overload yourself.
- Witch's Brew - possibly okay as a last resort heal but you don't want to draw this with your Far Sight. You also have the Healing Rain which does on average better for 3 mana.
- Sylvanas Windrunner - Was a card in a previous version. Started to feel awkward into aggro, so I found her slot a tech slot.
- White Eyes - Meh, anti-synergy
TECH CARDS
- Hex - great for mirror and against Paladins
- Plague of Murlocs - good against Warlock, Big Priest etc. but messes your board, you can run it instead of one Devolve
-Healing Wave - good healing for your face, but since Muckmorpher is in the deck, think about it carefully
Elemental Destruction - great vs Discolock and Demon Hunter. Overloads you a bunch though.
Hope you'll have as much fun as I had. Comment down below for any questions about deck, card choices etc. and don't forget to upvote if you liked the deck or the guide.
Go for the legend man :) Mill Rogue, yeah, you are really slow and they burn everything... Fortunately, nobody plays that, only a few players.
I dropped back to D5 with this. Works against no aggro decks and doesn't work against many priest control decks, I haven't encountered one mage
Well, I am sad to hear that.
I need to disagree with that it works "against no aggro decks". This deck is pretty good against them if you learn it a little bit. In fact, I harvested them with it. Pirate Warrior is a challenge for you, I admit but definitely it is really good against aggro overall. If you really lose to aggro so hard, mull hard for AoE and try to see for yourself. Healing is a big deal and against pwar or discolock, I sometimes keep two of the Healing Rains.
Raza Priest is a big deal, I admit that. If you face them exclusively, you should try to stick to some other anti-combo deck or mull hard for Ancestor's Call to destroy their Raza/Reno/Kazakus.
Against Amara/Benedictus Priest I won twice out of two games. That one is really easy, they only do their early deathrattles and then you disrupt their combo because before turn 5/6 they cannot do anything (even then they just heal and you chill).
Big Priest - be really careful what you do with Ancestor's Call. Try to Devolve their board and keep track of their deck.
Hm I used two healing rains but it doesn't really matter if you're at 5 mana with a bad hand and the opponent has 15 damage on board because my opponents always hit the best discard RNG
Got for the first time legend. Thanks to Bl4ckGh0st for the Deck and the advices.
+1 Legend for this Deck.
Has anyone also tried it in Europe? Does it still have a good winrate on D3 to Legend? I meet a lot of priests and aggro (like discard warlock and pirate wars) on those ranks which might be a problem for this deck as you mentioned. Thinking about crafting it but it's kinda expensive for me ://
I admit, Reno Priest is a really hard matchup. What could help you is to actually ask someone playing Razakus Priest or try to play it yourself and try to see into the counterdeck a bit. 5,6,7 are the critical turns for them and you need to find the momentum to not overextend and keep killing them.
Discardlock was really hard for me when I started with this version this season. You rely on your heal and Hagatha's Scheme a lot. Play Portals for tempo minions and force them to trade the totems.
Pirate Warriror is a premium aggro matchup. You need a deep understanding of what could go wrong lol. When to go Fountain, when to Scheme etc. I'd say be really careful and mulligan hard for Maelstrom Portal (+your combo). You are control, so you are mostly slightly in favor.
This deck might be a lower Tier 2, maybe high Tier 3 right now, just because of the Reno Priest and a very few Control Shaman players atm. It's definitely not terrible choice though, if none of the ladder decks worked for you. Deck is really good, plenty fun if you like cheating out big guys and some shenanigans.
You only need two legendaries - Y'Shaarj and Colossus of the Moon. The legendary weapon is just for more value and tempo (and fun), simply replace with any Control Shaman spell - Hex, Lightning Storm, Torrent, Witch's Brew, this is a tech slot depending on what are you facing. Don't put in like tech minions though, it will mess up your cheat outs.
Got Legend with this Deck 10 min ago, at 09:20 i was D1 with 3 Stars then Murloc Shame beat me, i fell back to D3 with 0 Stars, then i got many DH as Enemys and i beat all of them. Warlock is the worst enemy or Quest Mage when he is fast. On D3 with 3 Stars i got a Win Streak of 8 to Legend. 2x Shame, 3x DH, 1xWL, 1xMage, 1x Pala. First Time got Legend.
Thanks to Bl4ckGh0st for this Deck.
Gz, well played!
Yeah, Warlock can be tricky without drawing your tools. Quest Mage is... interesting, I provided some tips for it, but sure the opponent can play fast af and kill you.
Now you can choose whatever you like to do :) pilot this deck higher or meme a bit.
When you really get to feel it, you can beat DH easily.
Oh! Good to see this deck here :D
Play on it like 20 days of this mounth and have many highlights when streaming (mb you see me on YouTube in HS moments).
And! It win vs quest mages so y, this deck is really strong.
Sry my eng =\
Nice, I have been refining it since the Big Shaman was not a complete disaster. Scrapyard really feels good :)
Whoa, this deck is really strong and I love big fat minions.
Cheers for posting!
Haha, who doesn't love our thick bois :)
Thx for the feedback :))
go guide! 10 upvotes already)
Done! :)
Just lost to this deck lel.
What do you think of putting Barnes?
Okay, so the thing with Barnes is that it is not really the minion you want to cheat out from your hand, nor your deck. Muckmorpher is better - you have 4/4 stats and only a 2/7 chance of getting him if you Ancestor your Y'Shaarj on curve supposing you haven't drawn any other minions. If you play him on turn 5, 1/1 gets killed righaway and you are left with just poor theater guy Barnes and some other effect, Reborn or Deathrattle from your minions. 4/4 is just stronger.
Barnes also makes your Muckmorpher bad overall, cheating out a 4/4 Barnes is really bad. What you could try, is to have one Muck and other slot Barnes. I'd not recommend it, only if you want to save your dust.
What to use against quest mage?
Well, heal your face and try to make your Scrapyard Colossus go down before the turn with dropping giants. In earlygame to get your Colossus of the Moon out, they need to look for Polymorph or trade everything into him.
Ok thx im now on D2 to but Warlock fuck my all the time he brings Mal'Ganis. all the time. again again and again. or he play mecha thun warlock. im so close but warlock is the enemy of 30 games 18 games is warlock!
