Nefarian Rises is This Week's Brawl!
Join forces with a friend to take down Nefarian. Again. Anduin teams up with newcomer Morgl in this new cooperative Tavern Brawl!
Trivia
- This brawl debuted on August 17, 2016.
- This is the second time we've seen this brawl.
- The brawl was briefly demoed at gamescom 2016 before it came to live realms.
How it Works
- You and another player will play as either Morgl the Shaman or Anduin the Priest.
- Nefarian, a 200 health boss with taunt, will swap sides of the field so that you will attack him on your turn.
- You and your friend need to work together to defeat Nefarian.
- At the end of each player's turn, Nefarian gets to cast a random spell from his collection.
- When Nefarian hits 160 Health, he will cast Elemental Eruption and gain 5 Attack.
- When Nefarian hits 60 Health, he will cast Twisted Light and gain another 5 Attack for a total of 10.
- You cannot bypass any of Nefarian's phases. If a 4 damage attack would take him from 162 health to 158, it only deals 2 damages putting him at 160 health.
- If at any point your side has 7 minions on it, Nefarian will destroy them all since he can't move into a slot.
Strategy
There's a lot of different ways you can win, so we're going to give you some general tips.
- Don't get too attached to your cards. Nefarian is able to swap hands between players through Bamboozle.
- Anduin's heal is essential for the fight. It can help keep minions alive on either side of the field to prevent deaths via Flame Missiles. Anduin does have the ability to upgrade his hero power via Justicar Trueheart.
- There are some great targets for buffs. Personally, I had an upgraded Raid Healer which had multiple health buffs and a sweet Inner Fire. That card alone kept us alive.
- Morgl is able to clone Anduin's hero power through Sideshow Spelleater. Wait until Anduin plays Justicar Trueheart before doing it.
- Morgl also has two copies of Windfury. If Anduin can pump up a card, it may be worth giving it some speedy attacks!
- Before you take him down to 160 Health, try and make sure any strong minions of yours won't die to the AOE 4-6 damage. Buff, buff, buff!
- Everything is probably going to die when Nefarian hits 60 Health due to the 30 damage AOE he puts out. I had a minion at 26 Health when my "friend" pushed him over the edge. >.>
- With so many healing options available, don't be too afraid of fatigue. Draw those cards!
- Dragonscale Warrior, a card Morgl has, is another amazing place for buff cards since it also lets you draw.
- Early game you definitely want to go for cards with draw or healing.

Other Good Buff Targets
- Stoneskin Gargoyle - Heals back up to full? Sign me up!
- Fjola Lightbane - Will survive any phase transition thanks to Divine Shield.
- Bolf Ramshield - With a beefy Bolf, your hero won't need to worry about taking damage ever.
- Intrepid Dragonstalker - Getting this out early is amazing. She gains extra value and "levels up" very quickly.
- Dragonscale Warrior - Tons of card draw to chew through your deck.
Nefarian's Spells
Nefarian has access to several special spells. When a spell has two versions it means it is played in the final phase. The token, Explosive Rune, has also been included for easy reference.
Special Player Cards
There are some unique Tavern Brawl only cards available to players.

Discuss This Week's Brawl
Head on over to the discussion thread on our forums to discuss this week's brawl.
I use ancestral spirit on the skeleton knight and the guy that absorbs damage dealt to hero
Won after we drew our last cards, both buffed wobbling runts with double main tanks and Brann Bronzebeard. That was close
A 75 attack Northshire Cleric with WF was it for my partner and me :-)
Definitely nice Brawl if you get paired with someone who understands it.
Don't underestimate the power of that Freewheeling Skulker. My Priest partner and I got him up to a 54/54 Windfury'd monstrosity that laughed off Nefarian's 30 damage and dropped that 108 damage finisher on his head.
Good times!
Blizzard has actually had good brawls up in back to back weeks. Last week's was actually one of the best I've played in my time at this game. This week's is solid too.
Be me. Get to play as priest. Go first. couldn't do anything on turn one, so just end.
Nefarian does not do much.
Shaman's turn. coins out a totem.

Pass second turn as well, Nefarian summons a explosive rune for me.
Shaman's turn. casts rockbiter weapon on own face. Maybe coining out a totem is a mistake?
Shaman hits Nefarian for 3.

FYI: explosive rune actually has taunt, even if it's not stated on the card.
got firat try even though we both misplayed hard, luck I guess.
Took three tries before teaming with someone who actually understood the goal of this brawl.
I'm willing to bet there are players out there intentionally sabotaging people as well, which really sucks.
So it took me 4 attempts to finally get my first win because my partner in every single one of them was so completely, utterly moronic. Even the game I did eventually win I had to effectively solo because my partner was beyond dumb. I'm pretty sure the collective IQ of every single one of my partners could be overshadowed by a chimp flinging it's feces at other monkeys. Now, I fully acknowledge, I'm not the best HS player in the world. But oh my god you'd swear the people you get teamed up with were all beaten within an inch of their lives with a retard stick.
Wow, wtf lol
all you retards who play 7 minions .
People have to figure it out one way or the other, I made that mistake twice, once without noticing and the other time I was actually curious "what happens if there is no space for the boss to come to my side " and I played the 7th minion,
and I still won both games xD
And you needed to call someone retard? It0s just a game, chill out dude.
Very easy with Intrepid Dragonstalker. Just keep that one alive and later buff it with divine spirit and inner fire, even the 30 damage AoE won't kill it.
I had one up to 62 health and attack to get the win.
Oh, God. I start to realize how lucky I am after reading these stories. In all of the cooperative brawls, apart from the very first one, I got a competent player at first try. This time too. We almost got to fatigue but the good cards showed up at the end a buffed The Skeleton Knight won the fight.
Very fun brawl with a friend or a experienced player (not need to be top player, just to understand the concept), my first match was with a cool player, even though neither of us were familiar with the levels of the boss (one of the turns he had 7 minions on his side for example) we managed to beat him, after that I added him to my friend list and we did the brawl again with success. First time I add someone because of a brawl to repeat it. Nice player, fun brawl.!
First try. My partner made few mistakes but he tried his best.
3x and still no win. I always end up with idiots. One guy bounced the dude who switches sides in his hand, the other guy kept healing himself and spammed emotes and the third dude casted res on Nefarian....
