Descent of Dragons Card List & Guide
Whenever you draw a card, reduce its Cost by (1).
Hopes to be promoted to "Shadowfriend" someday.
This guy is far from a sub-par Epic. On a board full of minions that trade favorably, like Blackwing Technician, Twilight Drake, Wyrmrest Agent, you can drop a Shadowfiend, a Northshire Cleric and a Circle of Healing for 4 mana and discount a significant portion of your next hand.
Love playing this on turn 4 with a power word shield.
Drop a Shadowfiend or two, maybe behind a taunt or with a northshire. Then Djinni of Zephyrs and Power Word: Shield for the valueeeeeeee :)
Agree! Too slow
So far Shadowfiend has been the MVP or sleeper hit of TGT priest. Slap him in a dragon priest deck, which by itself is much less reactive than normal priest, hidden behind an early taunt and its snowball time bast turn 4 (Shadowfiend + PW:S). Start trading with a Cleric on board and GG.
I totally agree, my first idea for the deck with TGT cards was to make dragon priest with Shadowfiend and healing combo. And it is really good and interesting to play with since dragon priest has big early game taunts and card draw mechanics.
why he havnt charge?
I don't get why this card seems to get hate. I wish it didn't occupy the 3 slot (make it 2 for a 2/2) but otherwise it seems like the intention is for this to be combed with the big draw power available thanks to Northshire Cleric. Priest has turns where it can draw 3-5 cards on the cheap, and dropping this right before pulling that combo would be pretty nice. I'm not saying its great, just that its clearly designed for a niche situation and I don't think that makes it unilaterally garbage.
I just had this happen to me.
a priest turn 2 coins this out. I kill it. next turn. resurrect plus pws. i have no way of dealing 5 damage, so I play a minion. Snowball time, GG.
My first TGT epic #Hype #Sadboys
Nope. It looks amazing to me!
This card is unfortunatly bad. Its effect is AMAZING if you can keep it up, the problem is, priests generally draw cards in 1 big burst per game using some sort of combo. (Wild Pyromancer + Acolyte of Pain /Northshire Cleric + Circle of Healing ) And, increasing that combo's cost by 3 is.... too crippling.
I'd play this as a 3 drop but it'd just DIE without trading.
It will die without trading? Its a priest card...priest is the class that has buffs for health...I would just play it and Power Word: Shield it so it doesn't die instantly and you get its benefit on the card you draw from Power Word: Shield
And it works well with Northshire Cleric as cards she draws for you are affected by Shadowfiend's effect
It's not a demon. In the old WoW the shadowfiends were unclassified creatures. Later they were classified as 'aberration', not demon.
Unfortunately a Priest has many ways to attain cards, but is not so good at drawing cards from his own deck. So this card is not good enough and don't expect it to add much value.
Not bad! Turn 4 Shadowfiend followed by Power Word: Shield gives immediate value. Drop a Northshire next turn, heal and the opponent will have immediate removal-pressure
I dont get why Priest continues to get sub-par Epics. The card isnt bad or anything, but it doenst do anything impactful on the priests early game and still dies to knife juggler. I fail to see how this would work. I might be crazy, but that is my opinion on this card.
I will make a deck with it ofc, but still.
yeah honestly, its another 3 Drop, and we already have:Injured BlademasterFar SeerDark CultistThe twinsDeathlordetc. The 3 health also makes it an easy kill, so you would only realistically be able to play it turn 4 while hoping you have PWS in your hand, and even then it probably won't last another turn.
Yeah I just treat it like a 4/drop :) It has same stats as senjin shield masta with SOFT taunt. I think it can survive a turn no problem this way> :) If it doesn't, well you got a 1 mana discount on another card XD
We already have the dark cultis with the 3 slot but if you manage to combo this with the other priest draw mechanics then it could be show value.
It's got value, but emperor thuarisan is not played often in priest, and that card will likely hit more targets than this.
