posted a message on Nerf coming to Azure Drake?

I doubt it will be nerfed.

However, you are right:  the fact that it goes in so many decks is an indication that it is too powerful for its cost.  The new power of the dragon clan has tipped it over the scales (no pun intended).

posted a message on Wild Ranked is better than Standard Ranked?

I've seen pure Standard Pirate Warrior decks this month in NA Wild between ranks 15-10.  They're just as effective as in Standard, meaning sometimes they win, sometimes they lose.

posted a message on Loving this meta

From a creative standpoint, I think they did a great job.  I like the theme a lot and flavor of the three gangs.  The cards are especially good in Arena.

Of course, they had to make powerful stuff in order to attract buyers.  Warrior Pirate at least is fun to see and the games are short.  Jade Druid is interesting to see play, too.  They may have pushed the power envelope a bit much with jade golems, pirates, and dragons, but the power comes from synergies, at least.

What makes it interesting is that there are counters to the different new decks.  People complain about rock/paper/scissor, but CCGs should be that way or else you could only ever play one deck.

posted a message on Secret Paladin is still disgusting.

Unless Secret Paladin is addressed, Wild is not viable in the long term.  The last two months I didn't play Secret Paladin, and every time I queued against one I groaned inside.  Some decks can contest the early game against SP, some can contest the late game, but how many can contest both?  And then there's the problem that you don't know if it's Secret Paladin or Anyfin Paladin, another horribly depressing deck to play against.

I don't even know you would nerf it Secret Paladin.  Muster for Battle AND Mysterious Challenger?

posted a message on Secret Paladin is still disgusting.

It was time to play Paladin in Wild, so I thought, why not play Secret Paladin?  I didn't have the cards to do it when it was the former cancer.

My deck tracker tells me I've won 11 out of my 12 games with Secret Paladin (NA server).  My only loss was against a new Pirate Warrior, and it was close.

    Sick, just sick.

posted a message on 12 Win Decklists.

Am I posting the first post-MSG decklist?  Wow, MSG cards were great here.  Kabal Chemist and Kabal Courier gave great value.  Big-Time Racketeer and Doppelgangster kept my board full and helped my councilman.  Abyssal Enforcer was a nice board clear.  Blastcrystal Potion was an AMAZING removal spell.  I think my favorite card was Second-Rate Bruiser - it was just a really useful tough and cheap taunt creature, and it won me a game by protecting me when I was at one life.  I think Tauren Bartender is a very good card for Warlock in Arena as health is a big deal.  My other cards were nice  too with lots of zooish small-drops and good removal and beef.  I even was able to proc a couple game-finishing mechs (Mechgineer, Enhanco) from my Gorillabot and single other mech.

Oh and kids: Crystalweaver is NOT a demon!  When you play Demonfire on him he takes damage instead of getting buffed.  Learned that in my last game - luckily it didn't matter.

posted a message on Help with a bad zoolock and player who has crap for cards

Non-discard version of Zoolock is NOT very competitive (I know, I tried laddering with it last month).  You won't get any luck if you don't have all the basics.

You have all of Karazhan, so why aren't you playing "Disco-Lock"?  Here is a sample deck from Hearthpwn, all commons and rares (not mine):

Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (27) Ability (3)
    Loading Collection

I think you have most of the cards.

You would have to spend 300 dust to get the Darkshire Librarians and extra Doomguard.  So do it.

posted a message on What defines skill at this point?

I also thought about asking this question in a thread.

I think that people mean different things when they talk about skill.  Some people ONLY mean your ability to make good decisions during a game.

However, deckbuilding is also an essential skill.  Deckbuilding includes understanding the meta and the ability to judge and edit netdecks.  Those "top-skilled" people have to understand how to choose a deck.  For those of us without complete collections, it's also a very big deal.

When you talk about sorting people according to skill level, you can't just mean skill at playing, since good playing will only take you so far if your deck is not competitive.

posted a message on C'thun Druid help

I tried to ladder last month on a f2p account using budget ramp C'thun druid decks I found on the net.  They were way too slow and clunky.  Sure, you might be able to play one decent threat a round a little early, but that was it.  I was always behind and other decks could easily deal with one threat per turn.  I also was perpetually short on cards.  So I recrafted my deck by focusing on having very strong early tempo and it got me to rank 5 to my surprise without playing a huge number of games.  Here's my deck.  (The account is f2p, but I got the Twin Emperor from a pack.)

    Budget Tempo C'thun Druid
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (18) Ability (12)
    Loading Collection

I think the meta has shifted quite a bit since last month, so the deck may not be as effective.

    My thoughts on certain cards:

-At its heart, C'thun deck is a minion-deck.  Your early generic minions Beckoner of Evil and Twilight Elder are the heart of the deck.  Twilight Elder is just better than C'thun's Chosen because the 4-drop spot is better taken by Klaxxi-Amber Weaver and Swipe.  I have outright won games from an Innverated Twilight Elder on turn one dominating the early tempo.  He's very hard to kill.  Power of the Wild is huge - it goes well with Living Roots and the 2- and 3-drops, and it goes well with the late game taunts.  The other C'thun decks lack "oomph", which Power of the Wild gives.

-Similarly, one Savage Roar is very important as a win condition.  Budget C'thun druid decks lack ousting power and burst, but they do have lots of minions.  Savage Roar is great.

-Loot Hoarder and Apprentice Engineer are really important to keep your hand filled and they synergize with Power of the Wild.  The hand will still get emptied, so there is Nourish.

-MIre Keeper is way too slow.

-Wrath is only good in the fastest of metas, basically when you're facing Tempo Mage all the time and absolutely must remove a constant stream of 2-3 drops but also can't keep anything on the board.  Otherwise Wrath just doesn't help with your win conditions.  However, if you are facing only Tempo Mage and Mid-Range Shaman, I would say +2 Wrath and -1 Novice Engineer, -1 Nourish.

-2 Wild Growths is too slow and low-value.  1 is better.

-Doomcaller is too slow - C'thun is a secondary win condition to a tempo druid deck.  You're not going to fatigue.

posted a message on More love for wild.

More love for wild would include balance patches: Mad Scientist, Mysterious Challenger and/or Avenge.

Most of the decks you face in NA Wild are secret classes.  I see mostly of Mage (Freeze, Tempo, Mid), Hunter (mid-range and face), and the secret Paladins never end.  Like, ever.  Non-secret decks are Anyfin Paladin, Control Warrior, and Control Priest.  But yep, it's mostly secret-ville over there.  I am having more fun this season on my EU account where I rank in Standard than my NA account where I rank on Wild because there is more variety in EU Standard than in NA Wild, at least in the ranks I've encountered.
