Hearthpwn paid a terrible price to end the apocalyptic march of the Bot's crusade years ago, but even as the forum's wounds are tended, it is the shattered relationship between Control and Aggro players that may prove the hardest to mend. In Battle for Hearthpwn, the fall of the Bots Legions sets off a series of disastrous incidents that reignites the conflct at the heart of the Hearthpwn forum. As a new age of warfare begins, Hearthpwn's heroes must set out on a journey to recruit new allies, race to claim the forum's mightiest resources, and fight on several fronts to determine whether the Aggro or Control players will lead Hearthpwn into its uncertain future.
Is this conflict between Control and Aggro players ever going to end? Will there ever be a winner or will peace finally prevail between the two factions? What do you think?
Ok ladies and gentlemen, jokes aside, this thread was made with the purpose of discussing the conflict between Control and Aggro players and how to resolve it (and if it is possible, to put an end to it), not for a fight between the two factions, so stay calm people and try to be objective and friendly with others.
So, how would you resolve this conflict? Can you help Hearhtpwn users to put an end to it? Share your ideas, please. :)
War?There is no war... only the pointless squabble of smorc players. They simply cannot comprehend our master plan but they follow it unknowingly...muahahahaMUAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
No problem with control here, they can't beat combo, they can't (apparently, by their own account) beat aggro, that leaves the mirror? Which glosses over the main point, which decks in the meta are actually aggro decks, or have we expanded that term to any deck that attempts to pressure before turn 8?

I have had a lot of conversations with my friend list people and I have come to the conclusion that majority like control BUT they play aggro cause it wins more, is faster, or both in ranked.
Meaning that out of those 70% who voted control at least half (assumption) play aggro most of the time instead of control if in ranked play even if they would even despice aggro.
Jesus Christ... please no more threads about this where glorified control people talk about their high IQ plays.
It's not any harder to play control than it is to play aggro - and yes I play both. People should just accept different playstyles.
You're delusional
Why? Because it doesn't fit in your little bubble? Control vs control is no harder than aggro vs aggro. You identify crucial turns, cards and decide a strategy for the match.
In aggro vs aggro you get punished for the slightest mistake. One bad trade and it's gg. Odd warrior vs odd warrior you have more turns to make up for a mistake and you might rely on RNG to win (e.g ungoro pack or who gets the discover hero power most times from Dr Boom). And don't tell me it's hard to play against aggro decks with control decks. It's not hard to play clears and play removal.
I think both control and aggro need to be honest with each other that both playstyles have skill-testing and mindless aspects to their own playstyle.
For example, aggro has a lot of snowball cards that carry the deck(s) if they get lucky and draw them on curve, but they also actually have to fight for the board in aggro mirrors and bait out removal against control while extending a little into board clears (while also not doing so too much where you can't reload).
Control requires that some decks win mirrors against classes that have more value/removal than you (but this is also the double-edged sword that sometimes control mirrors are brainless if you are playing that class that has more value/removal than a less popular control class). For example, an equally skilled warrior/lock/mage/priest will almost always win against an equally skilled (non-otk) control pally/shaman/druid/rogue simply because the latter has been supported as a control class as long as the former. This creates the brainless aspect of control. You win just because your class/card pool is better and you don't need to try as hard to get value from your cards and can often sit around doing nothing (knowing that you will usually win the attrition game automatically).
With all respect, Sherman, I think that conflict is a rather constructed one, at least in the current meta. I think it goes more like this:
-Aggro players hate whatever has a lot of lifegain -Control players hate combo decks -Everybody always hates: 1: Whatever counters what they like to play 2: Watever is the most played deck(s) on ladder 3: Whatever they don't like losing to

What about combo
Most of the time, the conflict is only between Control and Aggro players. Combo players usually don't give a f...k about being part of it. ;)
(Even) Tempo decks is the way: play Control against Aggro, play Aggro/Burst against Control. B-)
More seriously, the players' understanding must reach the real complex state of things: players are *completely detached* from the decks they play.
Even if a difference exists between decks, and depending on the matchup, IN NO WAY is this determining of the quality of the player.
That is, the, Control player => elitist spoiled child / Aggro player => braindead cancer player, are simply nonsense.
Failing to understand that is a childish braindead thing...

I'm yet to hear bads screech about control being ''toxic cancer'' as much as they screech about aggro being ''toxic cancer''

Is the issue then not one of winning but enjoying the process of winning? Psychographic Timmy Spike Johnny stuff?

Such magnificence in just one post

Mid-range tempo FTW.
