Well, I'm going to make this quickly because I'm tired. As a huge fan of the series, I just want to say that with Petyr Baelish death, "the real Game of Thrones" is finally over for me. This season was a joke compared to the others: all was extremely rushed, Uncle Benjen unnecessary sacrifice was one of the most stupid things I have ever seen, Arya Stark super powers are totally ridiculous, and all is so predictable that makes me vomit. I should have stopped watching the series after Ramsay's death in season 6. So yeah, people, enjoy your stupid dragons and zombies fighting each other, I'm done with this bullshit. Oh, and of course, f...k the directors for destroying the series. :)
I actually enjoyed season 7 it was much more action packed and shit is getting done. The main theme of the show "Winter is coming" was dragged on for so long. Therefore came the memes "Winter is coming. Eventually..." they had to do things faster they couldn't drag on show for another 20 seasons. Indeed the current season is pretty muched rushed but it's because previous ones were slowed down, they lost their balance.
And Peter's death was kinda enjoyable, never been a fan of him. He had too many fingers in too many pies. And the incest part was pretty funny since Targaryens built their family on their purity of blood. But there are too many coincedences happening. Lets put all the main chars in the same area so they could all have a staring contest. Sure why not?
I don't get it why you are mad about Zombies and Dragon. We all knew that this was gonna happen from season 1. You shouldn't have even started if you knew that you are not a fan of fantasy.
Only now did I watch the episode (EU) and I guess you're right. The wish fulfillment is going through the roof just for the sake of fan-service.
What was once a game of chess between Varys and Littlefinger has become a fiesta of epic moments (which are great in terms of cinematography, gotta give them credit) with lackluster, shallow writing. Even the smart characters seem to be getting stupid. But that's fine because most fans love to see actual characters shipping Daenerys and Jon even if they just met.
Ramsay's death did not feel half as hamfisted (and it's a darn good thing because they decided to make him a godly super-villain in the series for some reason), but the butchering of Stannis just so it could happen by the hands of a fan-favorite character still pissed me off.
Also, there seems to be much more plot armor than before. Cersei can't even (SPOILERS!) order the Mountain to kill Tyrion while he provokes her?! Seriously?!
At least I'm glad Tywin died while the Game of Thrones was still Game of Thrones. 1 more season would have probably resulted in him getting dumber too.
Either way, the cast is becoming more and more filled with Mary Sues, as each character we are supposed to root for becomes more and more perfect while the so-called "villains" get bundled up on the same side and either become more despicable or stay the same.

Ramsay's death has been relieving for the vast majority of the audience,as well as being necessary for the plot. A rebellion against the Starks is ok. But after the death of Roose, the Boltons in Winterfell couldn't have contributed any longer to the health of the plot.
Baelish had two purposes in the series: catelyn/sansa and power. About the woman, he was not going anywhere. About power, he already reached far beyond it made sense, as lord of the Vale. So he had no purpose anymore and he was growing boring (even tho his actor is good). Fair enough that he died.
And well, s7 was ridiculous on multiple levels, tons of nonsense, but honestly the last episode was ok. Not a masterpiece but ok.
Tbh the series deserved to be left soon after the death of Joffrey and the escape of Tyrion. After that, it started being bland.
But if you followed it through the whole 7th series, then the death of Baelish marks no difference.
Unless you've got some perversion for wicked characters - which is ok, but then it's no good metre to judge the series.
Littlefinger was bound to die at some point but I honestly didn't expect it to happen this soon.... An entire season without him plotting behind people's back is gonna be weird but I'm happy Sansa finally did something useful (Wow girl it took you just 67 episodes).... As someone that read the books before watching this I agree that things are getting worse and worse with every season.... It's basically become fan service at its maximum..... I'm fine with them backing up the theory that Jon is Rhaegar and Lyanna's son but I mean,c'mon did Dany and him really have to have sex? All that while Sam and Bran were talking about them being relatives and Jon being the legitimate heir to the throne? That personally ruined everything for me.... I just hope she won't turn out to be pregnant with him next season...... Oh and Viserion destroying the Wall with the Night King on his back was the most obvious thing they could've done so even if that was the most logical ending for the episode I didn't really like it.... I'm certainly going to watch season 8 cause I want to see how they decide to finish this but I have a feeling it's gonna be something awfully obvious (Like Dany or Jon sitting on the Iron Throne)... At this point I really can't wait to read to the other books and see how much the ending will differ.....

Spot on, my friend.
I think Martin said the ending would be bittersweet, but I'm having my doubts... Judging by what we've seen this season it will end with Dany on one dragon, Jon on the other, and the WW being burnt where they march. Sansa will become Queen in the North, Theon will rescue Yara, Arya will somehow kill Cersei with fast-travel and whacky super-powers, Sandor will kill Gregor, Bronn will get a castle, Tyrion will be named Hand of the Queen AND the successor of Dany.
Done. Game of Thrones can no longer have losers unless they are bad guys, and the fans will love it. (Here's to hoping I'm wrong though.)

I don't hate Arya, I never said that, I just said her super powers are totally ridiculous. I even put her on my signature fighting with Brienne using lightsabers some days ago and I'm fine with her being a very skilled fighter. For god sake, learn to read.

Yeah, many fans will love it and I will hate it. :(
Even the smart characters seem to be getting stupid.
This trend started with Roose Bolton on season 6. I still can't believe he was killed by Ramsay in such a stupid way, when he was supposed to be one of the smartest and most cunning characters out there. As you already know very well Morkimus, Ramsay is my favourite character of Game of Thrones, but I have to admit that Roose was much more intelligent than him, he should have predicted his bastard son reaction.
Littlefinger giving away Sansa and then lingering in Winterfell for no reason
Tyrion suggesting an alliance with Cersei after sending Jon and friends on a suicide mission (technically it's his fault that there is a zombie Viserion flying towards them now)
Olenna telling Daenerys to avoid trusting her advisors, before heading to Highgarden for no reason
Qyburn, reviver of men, ender of Inquisitions, "inventing" a wooden ballista (in a world probably already familiar with ballistae) to fight firebreathing monsters
Doran Martell being unable to see Ellaria as the obvious threat she always was
Varys not immediately changing sides once Dany threatens to burn him alive
Things are looking bad for the brains of Westeros, I'd say.

It's not stupidity, they are going for what people want. If audience wanted a flying firebreathing zamboni we would get it. Early seasons had shock value to gain audience now they are forced to follow what audience want they've invested serious amount of money into this show, if they kill a major character like Tyrone they would lose a lot of viewers and they don't want that. It's better to lose a 1% of the viewship than 50%. You don't like Dragon and Zombies, a lot of people do. Personally i'd prefer if the show woud be a bit more political.
@moonsorrow999 Ugh, why do people get so upset about his cameo? I couldn't care less about Ed Sheran and yet i though that his bit was well done he had 3 lines to say and that's it. My God if he killed a man people would be less upset. And you probably don't even care about it because he stole a spotlight you care about it because it's popular. You darn hipster.

It is stupidity though. I loved GoT for its uniquely no nonsense, no plot armor, politically intense, non-traditional storyline. I loved the fact that even a lead character like Ned Stark wasn't allowed to get away with making questionable decisions. I loved the fact that any character could just suddenly die, but for very logical reasons; it kept me guessing what would happen next. I'm sure this is the kind of story most of the audience wants, not zombie dragons. I know this because it's how it gained popularity in the first place. Why would they instead, turn the story into a vanilla high fantasy that historically never worked on TV before? If it started as something like that, I wouldn't even have gotten into it in the first place
I like Tyrion but I wouldn't have minded him getting rekt at some point this season just to remind everyone that plot armor doesn't exist here. I think what they're doing to the show now will certainly lose more audience than gain.

That is your opinion. But season 7 is the most popular season of them all so obviously what you what find obnoxious is working. Ofcourse viewership base grows with popularity but after outrage in episode 3 or 4 when Ed Sheeran appeared and everyone claiming how show is a sellout and how everything is rushed and that they are going to quit and yet it's still even more popular than before. They are adjusting to the viewers you have to understand that. I've mentioned before that it's better for them to lose 1% intead of 50%. And i'll bet that season 8 is gonna be even more popular, despite claims of many that they are going to quit the show. It's simple supply and demand. Their goal is to make money.
