Well, I'm going to make this quickly because I'm tired. As a huge fan of the series, I just want to say that with Petyr Baelish death, "the real Game of Thrones" is finally over for me. This season was a joke compared to the others: all was extremely rushed, Uncle Benjen unnecessary sacrifice was one of the most stupid things I have ever seen, Arya Stark super powers are totally ridiculous, and all is so predictable that makes me vomit. I should have stopped watching the series after Ramsay's death in season 6. So yeah, people, enjoy your stupid dragons and zombies fighting each other, I'm done with this bullshit. Oh, and of course, f...k the directors for destroying the series. :)
My only gripe with show is that they left coldhands out of the story.I mean COLD THE FUCKING HANDS!That dude oozes with badassery in the books and of course he is my favourite but they left him completely out (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻( along with lady stoneheart, that other targaryen dude etc).
As for the bad guys diying,gg get rekt mate! :D
Edit oh yeah make the gripes two!I forgot the stannis the mannis' treatment by the show!Goddammit!

Dude, you have no idea how much I loved (no homo) Petyr Baelish. After Ramsay's death, he was the only character I really feel confortable watching. His dead literally broke my hearth. :(
I have to admit that I also like Jaime Lannister a lot (sadly, Tyrion is a bit boring now, but used to be a great character too), so maybe I will just watch season 8 to see what happens to him. :P

Eh, screenwriters reduced Baelish to such pitiful and borderline moronic state, I couldn't look at him without a cringe for last couple seasons. Sad really. Agreed about Jaime though, he's the only main character I care about at this point.
Episode 1-5 are still great. But Ep 6/7 are just too rushed with so many plot holes.
Two things I cannot stand: 1. Everyone learns to teleport from place to place. 2. Littlefinger, Varys, and Tyrion have a sudden drop of their IQ.
Nobody learned to teleport, I mean, do you really want them to show Dany flying on her dragons from Dragonstone to where they were in the North? That would be like another 5 episodes. They had time constraints, they had to move things along. They did kind of have a little thing with this, when Sam mentioned meeting Bran years ago. So, time does pass, it's not like these things are just happening overnight.
With Littlefinger, I think he put too much of his confidence in being Commander of the Vale and started losing his wit. Varys really has nothing to be a schemer for anymore, he's with the person he wants to see on the Iron Throne and also, he no longer has his little birds to give him information, which is what made him so sneaky and a schemer. Tyrion, I don't see anything wrong with him other than going up against his sister who obviously paid attention to what her father was teaching, so she learned his strategic planning.
So, if you look at things in a more broader sense, Littlefinger didn't just get dumb, everyone can get played, there's always someone better. He let his guard down thinking that he was driving a stake between Arya and Sansa and succeeding.
The thing I found most funny was when Sam went to see Bran and Bran was like,
Bran: "I became the Three-Eyed Raven, I see everything"
Sam: "I saw in a book that a Maester annulled the marriage"
Next season will be the last one. I don't think it's worth to stop watching anymore. If you have read the books or watched interviews for George R. R. Martins, than you should that he tries to show you through out the show that no one wins, if you fight each other for power.
I can understand that Littlefinger can be played, but not so easily, not him ...
Let's pretend that he let his guard down because he wanted to smash Sophie Turner (who wouldn't ?) but let's not forget about Sansa's testimony https://youtu.be/ITdEWUh4r1k in front of Yohn Royce who was also there to protect the lord of the vale, why would he believe her now when she was so convincing that her aunt killed herself ?
There is no way the guy who lived in Kings Landing secretly plotting the murder of Jon Aryn and King Joffrey while being the master of coin and in the small council fooling every little person around him could have been fooled by Sansa and Arya's little masquerade, no way he would try to turn Sansa against Arya so quickly before he was 100% convinced that his plan would work when we know he plotted to get back Lady Catelyn from the moment she rejected him when he was a little boy, the guy do not plan for months, he draw his plans for years, he would have spent more than 2 episodes whispering in Sansa's ears until he thinks she's prepared enough to make her think she wants to kill her sister, because that's how he works,
There is absolutely no way two unexperienced kids could fool a guy like him even with his guard down, not in a million years.
AND FOR FUCK'S SAKE HE COULD HAVE DEMANDED A TRIAL BY COMBAT
What happened is that the writers are more oriented in the action based scenes, just look at their previous work, and without GRRM material to work with, they wrote the thing the same way your everyday writer would have, a low cost staging we saw a million times to introduce his death because we don't have time for 5 episodes of his shenanigans, zombies are coming, boatsex is in this episode, and some epic CGI Articuno vs Moltres fight has to be prepared for the next season.
So yeah tell me it was rushed down for the need of the show, for the audience to have a death to honor the GOT 9th episode tradition (let's do it on the 7th fuck traditions) , I accept all these reasons, but don't tell me Little-M-FIIN-finger got played by Arya and Sansa Stark
Well i can agree that his death was rushed as fuck.As for the rest of text however. He is a human,a very smart human but a human non the less.Look at history, very smart and experienced people have done some terrible mistakes, especially when they thought they've already won(look the battles of waterloo and Gettysburg as examples).Lord Baelish was certain that he could manipulate Sansa and that he controlled the Vale.He was in love, let his guard down and got rekt.To me his death made a perfect sense because he died by his own poison,i just wished he had gotten more screen time
As for the trial by combat, who would fight for him?The northeners? The knights of Vale?He was outright denied by them and he was no fighter himself.
Game of Thrones always had a unpredictable story. You could never be sure if your favourite Character will die or not! Also there were no "good" and "evil" for the most part. You could pick, who you want and in some way they had their right to do, whatever they did. But now it went to the same boring bullshit where you know at the start of a series or film that your main character just can't die out of nowhere...
For my Part I hope the book will be better (I have no doubt in that).
Ps: I wish The Mountain had killed Jamie, even though i like him as a Charakter, because that would have suited the whole flair of Game of Thrones!!
Doesn't matter who would fight for him, it would gave him time, he has the coin he could find someone or just gain enough time to try to get away, not that it would have worked and Sansa could have refused pretending that the north doesn't do that, I just would have wanted to see him try
But who would want the coin and be branded a traitor or worse die on the spot by the trial? In the room there were only northeners and knights of the vale. There was none like Broon to be swayed by gold. The only thing he could do is beg and that's what he did, without any good results :P.
I hated the idea of binging that "life" zombie specimen to Cersie for securing her support. I really feared that she would be pursuaded to join which would have been completely against her character. I was mollified when she kept true to being Cersei. Still, the whole expedition, the conveniently singled out zombie, Benjen´s sacrifice... all of this was not well developed and rushed. The zombie dragon is cool, though.
I still love the series but feel a bit sad that they seem to be rushing towards the end.

Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.

Varys never wanted Dany on the throne, don't forget that he was rooting for Viserys at the very beginning, the whole plan was to use Drogo's army to invade Westeros and dethrone Robert, even if Dany is now the default choice since he has no one else to serve, there is no way Varys was conspiring to put that idiot of Viserys on the throne, (the real) Aegon Targaryen is alive in the books and if the whole scheme was to put HIM on the throne, then everything is going according to the plan, put Dany on the throne then introduce the legit heir and make him take the seat.
I highly doubt the spider lost all its web because Qyburn gave some candies to some children in King's Landing. No matter what Varys is up to, he is still a master schemer, but what is happening right now doesn't need his intervention, no matter what he wanted at the first place can wait for the threat from the north to be dealt with.
I can understand that Littlefinger can be played, but not so easily, not him ...

I think you're underestimating both Sansa and Arya here... Sansa got through 6 seasons of Hell... How many people can say they survived Cersei,Joffrey and Ramsay? Ramsay and Cersei rival Littlefinger's plotting abilities and Sansa dealt with both of them.... Also I think she's way more like her mother than her father so that helps as well.... As for Arya, she learned a lot in Braavos from people that would probably manage to murder Littlefinger so I don't find it that surprising..... The Trial by Combat would've been horrible.... No one would have fought for him and I find it fair that he died that way.... Betrayed by someone he "trusted".... Everyone on the show has at least 1 mortal weakness.... Cersei has her children,Jon is just like Ned,Dany is impulsive and so on... Littlefinger's weakness was his unconditional love for Catelyn Stark and later for Sansa that remind him so much of her mother.... All Sansa and Arya did was using this weakness against him.....
OP watches the first 7 seasons and claims he ain't going to watch the final season when it comes out...Good one. You'll be back once BabyRage subsides...You have over a year to get over it. The chances you actually don't ever watch any of Season 8? 0% chance. Ain't fooling anyone.
I had this weird speculation that Lord Baelish would die in that Episode, the actor who was playing him felt really lackluster this season kinda implying he might've met his demise. Was actually very surprised he was the only character to die at the end of a Season for once I was actually expecting more haha. I think he deserved to die though, he was playing with fire and eventually his sins caught up to him, I definitely agree his death was very undeserving of a character that had been in the show since Season 1. I do like that they used Brann's new power though to find out about his treachery.
Was more surprised that Cersei basically disowned Jamie, I thought they would be inseparable, also happy in a way because I really like Jamie's character he's really honorable (to his family mostly), yes it can be argued he pushed Brann out of the tower but that was to protect his family, and I can guarantee he will be joining Tyrion on the march to the North to fight the Whitewalkers and I think at some point he'll see how amazing Daenerys is and bend the knee like his Brother. I have this sneaking suspicion that Jamie will finally get with Brienne to Tormunds despair lul. I'm really hoping Jamie ends up killing Cersei like he did the mad king because that's the route she's going...
Also have this weird feeling that Brann and Samwell might not actually tell Jon about his ancestry because they care about him and don't want him to be miserable for a mistake he made with Daenerys. But if they do end up telling him it's gonna be Jamie/Cersei all over lol.
Another thing I was happy about is Theon finally gained his balls (ironic I know). Actually looking forward to how Theon vs Euron will pan out.
All in all I thought it was a good season even though it was very short heaps of character development and story and dragons shooting the crap out of everything. Sucks having to wait another year for it.
At the end of the day, except Jon and Briene, every character is a Villain somehow, everyone has something nasty in mind they want to achieve, even Dany burned a whole bunch Dothraki (who were still her people) when she could just run away and a father and son just because she wants to be queen, and since we now have the utlimate super villain in the Night King, there's no space for someone else until he is out of the picture
Jon hung a kid with perfectly understandible motives for his actions. Basically Briene (and Sam) is the only main character without known moralic flaws in the past. It makes the story realistic not to sport any White Knights. e.g. I love the way Jamie´s character developed and I love Nicolai as a actor, but obviously you don´t have to dig deep to find his flaws, past and present.

That because the game is about the end obviously if Grrm would write the story for last season it would be more interesting but he didn't and audience cannot wait for 10 years to have another season so they will just pack up everything and finish the series.
You cannot expect directors to do exactly what Grrm is not able to do so they focused on giving more action to the audience

Jamie is one of my favs as well, despite shoving Brann and the incest thing. But killing his cousin in the Blackfish´s cage was not exactly honorable to his family :-)

Definitely was self preservation for sure, not his most honorable moment haha. But in all fairness him being stuck with the Karstarks would've lost the Lannisters the war imo. According to the books that actually didn't happen either the scriptwriters just threw it in there.
What we're witnessing the past couple of seasons is the fast food version of the song of ice and fire. Can't really blame it on the writers. There's a reason GRRM doesn't keep writing a book every week. It takes time for the storylines to interweave, characters and motivations to mature etc.
Ever since the show caught up with the books, the writing quality has deteriorated dramatically, as expected. The show writers, good as they may be, have to deal with deadlines, budget limitations, executive interventions and what not. Just wait for the books for the proper version of how things went down.
In the meanwhile, the show is still better than anything else on TV, so no reason to be bitchin about it.
You are correct, although I would not bet any money on us getting all books from grrm. I truly wish him best health and everything else he could want but he gets older and older and it takes him more time with every book. IF he publishes Winds of winter in 2018 it would be 7 years since dance with dragons, which took him 6 years. If we assume the final one takes 8 years he would be 78 and that is already getting within the range in which most senior people develop some age related issues.
