So there are obviously a lot of aggro decks floating around right now, but I (semi-unwisely) decided to spend all of my HOF dust on Handlock. First true control deck I've ever piloted for an extended period of time, and wow its so much fun to play against other control decks. Your resources matter, you get to see a lot of cool combos, and most of the time you feel like the winner was the one who played the matchup better, rather than the rock-paper-scissors we saw throughout all of last year.
Any other fun control decks people should give a shot?
Control Warrior without bombs is very strong. Only bad matchup I can think of at the moment is Mech Hunter. Bear in mind, that mirror matches can take A LOT of time.

Specially if both run Elysiana and Baleful...
Yeah, my last such game took close to 40 minutes. Thankfully, not many people seem to play it, and instead default to Kripps Bomb Warrior, which CW eats for breakfast.
I spent my dust on control shaman and I don’t regret it. I run Hagatha the Witch, Swampqueen Hagatha, Shudderwock and Archivist Elysiana. If you play it well you can beat token druid and outvalue bomb/control warrior thanks to double elysiana (second from shudderwock). Besides its a really fun deck.
As someone who used to play exclusively control, I cannot disagree more with this statement
Control mirrors are now objectively the least skill based they've ever been. Normally whether or not something is skill based is up for debate and personal interpretation but now with Archivist Elysiana, control mirrors literally come down to who gets better Elysiana cards (Or who chose to make their deck worse against aggro via bankers). 40 minute games are fine with me, but 40 minute games that ends in a coinflip no matter what you do? No thanks
Also, as someone else mentioned, handlock is not a true control deck

I would disagree that handlock is not a control deck. Any deck that can utilize Shadowflame and can tap for cards, would be stupid not to run Mountain Giants along with Shadowflame. That Mountain Giant is an 8-8 that can hit face very hard, does not take away from the fact that running it is in itself also a control inclusion.
Are there any decent controllish Warlock lists yet? It was the first thing I tried to homebreed when the new exp came, but without any real success. The different handlock variations I've tried don't really seem to get anywhere either. The lack of a powerful finisher is a real problem. Sure there's Rafaam, but he's so random, while Jaraxxus is very vulnerable against aggressive decks.
I love how this thread degraded too `you are not playing a real control deck as you put in mountain giants >:(" For godsake people and you wonder why people consider "control" players elitist.

It's only R5, but I had great success with a Dragon Handlock build (79% WR from R15). You can use Omega Agent & Barista Lynchen as a finisher, but I don't think it's really necessary with aggro being prevalent atm.
Removed all the bombs. Removed all weapons. Removed all card draw. Added dragons synergy, added more removals, added Elysiana. Win streak from rank 15 to 10 Last night, so much fun. So many people saving and playing the ooze for nothing. It feels like control warrior from 2014 where you actually manage resources!
Now I must admit, some warrior cards are just absurd.
-Dr boom hero, Omega devastator, Omega assembly, Dragon roar... Even Brawl. If one of these 5 cards gets nerfed I wouldn't complain too much.
Warriors have everything in this expansion they are the control God, the bombs are just some stupid gimmick.

Can I see your list? Control Warlock is in a pretty bad spot atm.
there are some new style contro locks starting to appear which are not terrible. I'm going to sleep now, but theres at least one on here I seen.
also there is a control shaman deck, dragon khadgar mage and control warrior at the moment that I know of, there might be more.

How the hell is scrubbyass handlock considered control? Nothing with giants is a control deck.
Fun > Meta

what do you mean "now"?
"Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear turns into a cat and eats you." - Anonymous Druid

Have you having fun with 40 min matches? I am not having fun. Intensive and short I prefer a game in this way.

So play Bomb Warrior or Secret Paladin
handlock has never been a control deck
