Moreover, Skulking Geist, as clunky as he is, exists, alongside with other stuff (Azari, the Devourer, King Togwaggle,...), while there is absolutely no counter to a 9 mana Hero Card.
Saying that Jaina is not an infinite value cards is equal to covering your eyes with your hands and pretending not to see the reality.

I have won pratically 2000 games with Jaina on ranked. Ive used a lot more than that.
I know by a fact Jaina can be bothersome but not everytime. Far from it. And you should definie "opressive". A card that makes the opponent unable to play? A card that is basically an insta win? She is none of that. I know Mage's weaknesses and strenghts. Mage lost ice block, and for survivability she only has the Arcane elemental and lich Jaina herself.
The card itself also has counter ability play. I've won plenty against and lost using her. Obviously in a card game you will have the advantage in some games than others but thats is what it is. She is not opressive at all.

In concreto, what is oppressive in hearthstone? everything that makes it hard to move against, by limiting available options.
Jaina is oppressive, as it punishes every time you give her the ability to destroy a 1 health minion, it stops you from trying to kill her with pure damage, it freezes your hero (thanks to water elemental) stopping you from using weapons, it freezes minions, you can't even damage her minion to 1 health without allowing her to make a water elemental out of them. And you can't even stall because she'll keep on making water elementals. Basicaly it's hard to make a move against Frost lich jaina, which as it so happens is the exact ethymology of "oppressive".
What's not oppressive about that?
Don't get me wrong, most death knights are like that, but that's exactly why none of them should be added to standard.
I have seen enough of both, thank you very much. I am sure we will see something to replace at least one of them during the year of the dragon. So have fun with them while you can. Good riddance to The King and goodbye Felicia I mean Jaina.

As the mage player : no you can't play around the mage getting water elemental every turn. Maybe from time to time, but not most of the time.
Play a 3 health minion? Blizzard + ping
4 health? meteore + ping
5 health?Flamestrike + ping
7 health? dragonfire (which usualy will get a 6) + ping
8 or more? then just voodo doll/polymorph + ping
And because I'm an ass : 2 health? Dragonmaw Scorcher +ping (it's not core, but I play it in my deck so it counts)
Play nothing? well sindragosa + ping (or thalnos or loot hoarder ) (or just take the opportunity to play alana)
The only weird one to hit is a 6 health minion (like water ele), which are surprisingly rare and usualy not enough of a threat.
A good big spell mage player will also set up 2 health minion on his own board to 1 health (if they can do it safely) to force out a removal before it turns into another water ele (like ravencaller)
Well I'm more worried that with the rotation Mage has again one of the smallest card pool (having rotated the most cards + the cat leaving now).
Jaina can't stay but as of now because of Baku also rotating - 80% of the current "newest" expansion is more or less unusuable for Jaina - she never was big on the elemental synergies until they "forced them upon her" nor will the hero power reliant cards see more play than now (they will actually decline if they won't try to support them - again).
We'll be back to square one where mage can't really sustain a control style anymore - basically no healing, iceblock gone, wincondition gone and no aggro style anymore - odd mage gone, face mage with all the armor/healing around not viable, and aggro spell mage gone because of Mana Wyrm being dead.
Jaina will be stuck with her "generate random trash from cards" - except she'll also miss glyph. Having Odd Mage after rotation was my only "sure hope". I'm more than worried now...
Then I'm sure You all guys are happily awaiting this moment.
Hopefully, they print a new Lich King card this year. I can see him being a fun recurring card character like Rag, Elise and, Hemmet, Dr. Boom, Deathwing.

I never said EVERY TIME,but you can surely try to minimize the amounts,but anyway the point was that,yes there are a Number of ways for the mage to ping and kill stuff,but the Total amount Is fking limited,that seems to not get through to people without the Mental capability to count higher than 12
No. This is what wild exists for. You want to keep playing these cards, play wild. Standard should not have any cards that will keep being played forever.
