I wonder why Blizz gave us three(!) weeks of such dust-heavy daily quest event. Even pre-Witchwood event was two weeks long, not three. Maybe it was so because the next expansion set will be quite rich with high value dust-heavy cards (epics and legendaries), so they give everyone a chance to have enough dust to craft at least something of value?
What do you think of it? Or there might be some other reasons for this generous dust giveaway?
There have been a bunch of "events" over the past two years - the run-up to Un'Goro, the Fire Festival and the Frost Festival, the WW event, this one. They've all been different. I suspect someone on the team said, "this time, let's give them dust in addition to gold . . ." In all likelihood, there will be another event in-between the second and third expansion, in October or November, and it will be a little bit different again.
I think next expansion will be not 135 cards as usual, but 270. thats why we have better daily quests and this dust event
No chance sorry why would they do that? That is an awful business decision when people are already complaining about being non FTP friendly
I’m not saying the other guys idea is right but your answer is illogical. Why would Blizzard care about what FTP players want / complain about since from a Business perspective they literally add nothing to the game for them? They metely provide more bodies (if anything), but they add no monetary value for the business, so Blizzard arent going to worry about adding more cards for that reason.

Players playing the game HAS a monetary value, not NO value as you stated. Popularity of the game has a tangible business value that's incorporated into the entire business model for both the well being of the game and Blizzard's bottom line. When you speak in absolutes you truly are lost.

every deck in the meta requires atleast 2 legendaries cheapest meta deck right now is odd paladin that costs 6000 dust its very hard to make a good deck in this meta for a f2p player its a good thing that they are helping

i play cubelock and lose 5 games in a row then i play odd paladin and get my stars back wash rinse repeat
Do we really need to make conspiracy theories over Blizzard giving us free stuff? Hopefully it becomes tradition that these epic events will always happen during summer.
Team 5 has said in the past that numbers drop in the final month (give or take) before a new expansion, as players get bored. They have offered these events in those time-slots to bring players back in. It will likely end right when a new expac hype train begins. It's simply smart marketing.
It is also important to note that they are clearly getting more generous with rewards and giveaways. It seems to me that Team 5 recognizes the outdated rewards system and hears the chatter about how much better the competitors are with their respective reward systems.
All in all, it's simply smart business to improve the things that are problematic and cause PR issues. Doing it with events timed to draw back players that have left is smart, too.
I... see no reason not to take this event in good faith?
I think Blizzard are well aware that this is a tough game for newer players to get into. Decks get more expensive as time goes by, and long-term players' collections get bigger and therefore harder to compete with. Blizz wants to attract new players and keep them in the game, and giving away a bunch of resources helps them do that. On the players' end, yay, free stuff! It's a win/win, and it's good business practice for Blizzard.
This is it. It's called good faith, something they had been oblivious to as they've incrementally made the game more expensive. Considering the economic model of acquiring dust they MUST do these kind of promotions to keep F2P people at least partially engaged in the game in between expansions. Larger collection, more emotional investment: more dollars; it's business 101 but apparently Blizzard are a tad slow to putting that to practice.

The name of the game is "business". "If you supply it, they will come" Blizzard is giving something for F2Ps (such as myself) something to look forward to when they log in, while things are slow. However, I wish they did it more /grin.
I mean, last year they gave 2x gold, which is better in my opinion )
Well, mathematically speaking, giving us bonus dust instead of x2 gold is more profitable for players, because dust>gold. Anyway, one extra free legendary isn't bad. In addition to free legendary at the expansion release we will have 2 free legendaries, and 2nd one we can choose to craft. Sounds nice imo.
Man, this thread has some frustrated people commenting. It could actually just be Blizzard being nice to new players, or encouraging existing players to try out more decks.
I'm sure that the people working for Blizzard are nice people, as nice as anyone else, but a company is never "nice". No company ever is your friend, and no company ever has your best interests in mind.
I like the service that Blizzard is providing, and they seem happy making it available for a price. That's it. Same for the Coca Cola Co., Facebook and Toyota. Some I pay directly, some get their income indirectly, but it is all business.

That‘s not true. The average pack gives around 100 dust, if you already have every single card. The smaller your collection, the more a card pack is worth.
2000 gold gives you on average one legendary, four epics and 95 additional cards - some of them golden. 2000 dust gives you a legendary and an epic.
Sure, if you want specific epic and legendary cards, you usually get them with dust, but if you want to build towards a good foundation for your collection, gold would be much more useful.
they know that it is difficult to follow step 3 expansions per year and many expensive tier 1 Deck to craft and sure free dust and goll make me happy AF

Quests with gold and dust should be permanent

Obviously its because of some ridiculous conspiracy theory about being extremely greedy and not giving a shit about their playerbase.

Don’t question the dust. Ignorance is bliss
Wished to be pink.
Then did.
Then fired myself.
Then did again.
Is MTG FTP? Yugioh? Pokemon? I'm honestly happy we get anything for free from Blizzard.

21 days* 77,5 dust on average = 1627,5 dust total.
Damn "we gonna be rich" sure - 1 legendary!
P.S. Not complaining, but op sounded funny with his "dust-rich event"

I'd love to craft myself tess on blizzard's tab
