Seems like this post is actually suggesting something completely different but no-one has realized it.
We should have a button to upgrade a card from regular to golden by spending the difference in dust cost between the two.
As a non-whale I probably would never use this button, but it seems like a totally reasonable and common-sense feature to have.
I haven't read toooo much in this thread (I'm very surprised it's still going on, to be honest), but this would be the best option, and I'm kinda surprised it hasn't been implemented yet.
The idea of this thread is ridiculous, as some people have stated (don't try to change my mind haha, if you're thinking logically and rationally, it is absolutely ridiculous lol =P), but yeah, an upgrade button would be a very easy thing for Blizzard to implement.

As a recipient of The Runespear who then immediately dusted it and have not regretted it at all and who received one of the( if not thee) worst DKs (not gonna name it b/c then everyone is gonna be like, "Oh thats actually a good card")... I don't think Blizzard needs to do jack crap. I appreciate the free legendary (even if its only 400 dust). And I appreciate that its random b/c it encourages me to give a card, that I wound't normally craft, a chance... for free (the exception being The Runespear, I've always known that card was a pile of crap).
I don't "feel dumb or stupid"for DE cards nor do I have any sympathy for golden card crafters. Golden cards are purely aesthetic and have nothing to do with the game itself. Game aesthetics are unnecessary so I could care less if Blizzard's attempt to put out a great gaming experience for everyone interferes (though I still don't know how it interferes) with someones aesthetic pursuits. Why I like the idea of "discover a legendary" I also understand that I am the consumer and I don't always get every little thing I want. So Blizzard thanks for the free random class legendary (even if its, and expecting it totally to be, the worst one available).
You're getting free stuff that nobody is obliged to give you, and you make a thread about potential resentment that players will feel, because they are going to get something for free, that they would normally not get, because that free thing isn't the free thing they wanted, and all because you want that free thing to be golden?
21st century first world problems all the way there.
I share your concern. I would say that they don’t give a shit about us whales, as they know that we’ll keep whaling pretty much no matter what, even if we are actually the economical backbone of the game.
Edit: after reading a few comments it seems that f2players loath our very existence, while we actually allow theirs. Human logic at its best, as usual around this game.
Chuck Norris is that you? Cause I know Chuck allows me to play some blizzard games, but allow my very existence? Very generous of you...
While I don't much agree with the specific logic that the OP uses, I do agree that the current system can lead to some negative experiences for those who get given one of the trash legendaries.
However, I don't feel like letting people chose their legendary (either directly, or by giving them the dust) is the right solution, because all that means is that everyone would wait to see which legendary from that expansion makes it into a tier 1 deck first, then everyone goes and picks that one and all of sudden the ladder is all the same deck (even more so than currently...). By making it random, you at least give people some sort of reason to try out different decks.
So I actually like the idea of it being in some kind of pack that you have to actively open. That way people who want a specific golden legendary can still do that, and everyone else is largely unaffected. So everyone wins.
And this is different from getting a legendary in a pack because...?
Fun fact: You're guaranteed to get a legendary within the first ten packs you open of any given expansion.
Because prior to opening packs, you can go to your collection screen and craft a legendary you ABSOLUTELY want in gold, then you'll not open a duplicate.
As an example: when Knights of the Frozen Throne came out, the first things I did was craft Lich King and Shadowreaper Anduin in gold. I then did the prologue (the event that triggered the freebie for the set) and got a random non-priest DK (which was Thrall).
The OP's concern is that since you get your random legendary when you log-in, you might the legendary you were going to definitely craft in gold before you have access to do so and, as such, you end up with effectively 400 dust rather than a card you would actually use, since obviously if you have golden copies of a card and you like shinies then you're going to play them.
The ONLY complaint I would make about a FREE legendary is that you can't dust it. Especially when it goes to Wild (C'thun), or it just doesn't work for you in normal play (Mirin the Fox). If it's a gift, which means it's yours, you should be able to dust it if you want to. (This has always bothered me about undustable cards. And really, it's not that big of a deal. It's still a free card, but I just wish I could get more use out of it, besides just sitting in my collection unused. But I digress.) Otherwise, as a mostly F2P player (I buy expansions pre-sales and adventures) it's ridiculous to be complaining about free stuff, especially if it's because you want a golden one. Honestly, I dust all my golden cards, unless I don't have a regular copy of said card. GOLD CARDS DO NOTHING!!! Yes, they're shiny and animated. BUt other than a need to have every.single.card. it's useless.
There are two kinds of people... Those that say Blizzard in the greediest company in the world, and those that say Blizzard is the most generous company to have ever existed.
Personally I hope they stick with 70 packs for $50 USD, as that would put HS more in line with the cost of other CCGs per card. The prices are still pretty bad though considering the re-sale value is $0.00, but 70 packs for $50 is a lot better than 40 for $50. If they keep giving away 20-30 free packs per expansion that will also be great, as FTPers will actually be able to stand and a chance, and not have to dust everything to create a single tier-1 deck.
In the longer run it actually means MORE money in Blizzards pockets anyways, as a larger player base means more people to spend money on the game. More people with more cards will create a healthier meta, which means more people wanting to play.
Basically, it's good Blizzard is finally giving a good amount of free stuff, and lowering the prices is a big step in the right direction also.
I agree with OP. Why? Here is my reason: first of all i play only warlock (wild) and have full golden warlock decks..i cant say its lose/lose its free 400 dust but gosh i would be happier with 1600 dust, not random legy, if i get warlock legy i will diss him and craft golden one (if he is good) so i dont care what legy i will get.... But with 1600 dust i could craft 1 golden epic or 2 golden rares or 4 golden commons xD i craft every card that can be used in renolock in a golden coppy :D
Is it not better to get a legendary you don't want so that you don't pull it from one of your limited packs? and then disenchant it once you are done opening packs if you need to
Probably not going to find much sympathy when your main objective is to craft golden cards.
But I do agree 1600 dust would be more appreciated than receiving random meme legendary

Yeah... This sounds like silly whining to me.
There is the same number of legendaries. Expect instead of more neutrals ones we get 2 per class.

I've no clue what I'm doing...
Couldn't the free class legendary be tied to the solo event they made for this expansion?
Not necessary at all (free stuff is always good, even if it's random), but...
If we could discover the free legendary (choose between 3 random ones), it would be awesome !

i hope because complaining about getting a free Legendary can't be real

If you're crafting golden legendaries on launch day, a small risk of missing out on 1200 dust shouldn't really be a noteworthy concern.
