    Ок. Dog bias, buff cats.

Didn't spot that before... OK, tin foil hat time. Next expansion will feature a new type of card: 'Pets'. You heard it here first.

Met one of these on ladder yesterday - based on that game, it looks like a deck that is either super hard to master or can just low-roll horribly. It did NOT look ladder viable...

posted a message on The Pepper Thread - Share your good vibes!

Have been really struggling to put together a winstreak this season - plenty of times I've got two wins in a row, but always seem to get a bad matchup on that third game... Won two games in a row with control priest, queueing up for third match thinking "as long as it's not a warrior..."

The innkeeper bellows "Anduin Versus.... Garrosh" and my heart sinks. Maybe it's some janky rush warrior?! "None will survive!" oh crap.

And yet somehow I managed to scrape the win with a bit of luck and some good skill (I think!). I immediately started playing as aggressively as possible and managed to get in a bit of chip damage but my opponent was barely below 30 health and kept pumping out the armour. I saw my chance for a turning point when I drew picking Firetree Witchdoctor. I picked Free From Amber as my discovered spell, and from that I got a Malygos. That allowed me to chew through all my opponent's armour in one Mind Blast, setting me up to make a proper dent into their life total with my minions on board.

With both copies of Brawl played and not enough armour for an effective Reckless Flurry against my board of dragons, my opponent finally conceded. What made it extra special for me was the fact that my opponent was playing a full golden deck* - always feels extra good to beat a whale!

*at first I thought it must be a golden Whizbang deck, but after checking online it appears that the Odd Quest Warrior deck is no longer one of the Whizbang recipes. So it really was a full golden Odd Quest Warrior :O

posted a message on hsreplay.net has to many problems

There is a filter on HSReplay when you're looking at Wild decks to only show decks that include at least one Wild-only card. Try that.

Also, they don't invent decks, they reflect what people are playing. If a certain set of filters shows no results, no-one (at least no one who uses HSReplay/HSDT) is playing decks that fit your criteria.

And yeah, Nerubian Unraveler = KoFT

Just won one of the most painful matches I've ever played...

Ladder match, playing as spell hunter against Odd Quest Warrior (38% matchup BTW). Managed to grind out the win over 30 turns (and 51 minutes) of pure agony. Got lucky with a Zul'jin topdeck on turn 10, but the opponent crushed that with Reckless Flurry plus Chief Inspector.

The key turning points were saving a deadly shot for my opponent's last card as I was pretty sure it would be a Witchwood Grizzly (which it was) so I could push through for vital face damage, and creating two zombeasts that included Raptor Hatchling to save me from fatigue.

What made it  such a sweet win (and hence a real pepper moment) though was that my opponent literally roped EVERY SINGLE TURN. That is not an exaggeration - even on the turns where all they did was hero power and pass, they literally burned the full rope down every turn. Karma will get you in the end!

posted a message on Celebrating Winter Veil - Our Favourite Moments From Knights of the Frozen Throne

This set has so many great memories for me! Mostly based around the insane luck of getting The Lich King, Frost Lich Jaina and Bloodreaver Gul'dan ALL in golden... And I only opened about 100 packs. Also Deathstalker Rexxar, the first legendary I ever crafted and still probably my all-time favourite card .

    Those were the days!

posted a message on Card Nerf - Leeching Poison

I'm personally in favour of this nerf - although I'm assuming that the enchantment WON'T go infinite (seems to be a point of debate here).

First off I think the infinite heal aspect of Kingsbane was a big problem in terms of interactivity - I think any deck that is immune to fatigue is a problem for the game, but without the infinite heal the deck will be vulnerable to just getting overwhelmed in the late game

Secondly I think this is another elegant nerf (as was Saronite Chain Gang) - they didn't just lazily bump up the mana cost to slow the deck down, the fundamentally altered the card in a way that hurts that specific deck without losing the flavor of the card. I also like that they buffed the cost to partially offset the nerf to the power level - don't recall seeing them do that before?

Lastly I think this might push people more towards the aggressive pirate version of Kingsbane rogue, and I think that deck is much more entertaining - not least because it uses a ton of cards from the new set.

posted a message on Card Nerf - Saronite Chain Gang

Very happy with this one. From a selfish perspective, I don't play Shudderwock Shaman or any handbuff decks and I hate playing against them, so good news all-round for me here!

For a long time now, this card has been at or near the top of the most-played cards list on HSReplay (was #5 when I looked just now). Any time a card stays that popular for that length of time there has to be consideration of whether the power level is appropriate. When that card is also a core part of a combo that can lead to incredibly long and tedious matches or even literally game-breaking animations, I think it's fair to say you've got a problem card.

I also think this is a really elegant nerf. In a lot of decks this change literally does nothing to affect the power level of the card; it's very targeted to decks that look to abuse the card in ways that generally lead to un-fun games for the opponent.

There are a few fringe cases where this is a shame (Val'anyr Paladin or Hir'eek, the Bat Warlock for example), but I think it's worth it for the benefits elsewhere.

posted a message on Upcoming Hearthstone Balance Changes - Wild Growth, Nourish, Level Up!, Saronite Chain Gang, Leeching Poison

I'm still reeling from this one, honestly. When I first saw the forum thread on it this morning I 100% thought it was a fake!

I'm really happy with these nerfs and I think (hope) they will have a positive influence on the meta. Except possibly for making it even more of a hunter-fest...

What I particularly like about this announcement though is (A) that it totally came out of the blue; there were no annoying 'changes coming soon' pre-announcements, and (B) they are fixing both short-term (Leeching Poison, Level Up!) and long-term (Wild Growth, Nourish) problems.

    GJ Blizzard, happy customer here!

I don't know if it is intentional but they didn't change Doppelgangster. So shudderwock will still go on in wild?

I don't play any wild (so probably talking rubbish here) but I would assume Doppelgangster is probably less of a problem than Saronite Chain Gang was? Firstly because it costs more and is a worse card in isolation, but mainly because the lack of taunt means it's much less useful in helping you stall out to combo time. Right?

Any wild players here, feel free to flame me for my ignorance!

posted a message on Host a Pre-Release Event for Rastakhan's Rumble - Play With Your Cards Early
    Quote from N0Sp00n22 >>

    From heartpwn :

Create your unlisted, private event, invite a couple of friends or hang out with your family and open your packs early.

You can play in a special fireside brawl with other people at your event. It's constructed with the new cards.

    From Blizzard :

if you are looking to have some fun with friends and family in the comforts of home, you can also enjoy the festivities by creating an unlisted event!

    From Me (LOL) :

    "What?"

As others have already stated, I can't figure out how to set up a private, unlisted event AND get to open and play with the new cards, including the special fireside brawl.  Is it even possible?

If you set up an unlisted event, you won't be able to select either of the pre-release event options. HOWEVER the Blizzard post states than ANY event hosted during this time window will automatically have access to the pre-release brawls - meaning you'll be able to open your pre-purchased packs and play the deck recipes.

It's super unclear on the fireside gatherings website, but the Blizzard post is pretty unequivocal on that... so I guess we just have to trust them and hope!

posted a message on New Druid Minion - Treespeaker

Having tried a bit of treant druid recently, I generally find that it's very hard to stick treants to the board in the early turns. So realistically this is usually going to be at best a 5-mana 4/4 with 'give a treant +3/+3'. Which is still decent, if not spectacular.

If I unpack any of these I'll give it a go, but I doubt I would craft one.
