Intial thoughts 1.5/5.. using two cards to eliminate 1 threat is not a card advantage. On the other hand someone will show off that sweet Ragnaros or LK steal and be like this is good.
Better than the hagatha one but still not the best top deck in the world, its not really a great traditional control card, but just serves as a combo delay.
Quite a bad scheme compared to other schemes. A full board clear, a fill your deck with any minion... and this, a single target spell... if it reduced the attack of all enemy minions then it's playable.
It's 0 mana and Priest loses Twilight Acolyte, which absolutely sees play with Cabal Shadow Priest. For 0 mana this will absolutely see play.
The trouble is if it's late game you'll steal a 0 atk minion... nice if it's ragnaros or something, or a decent deathrattle, otherwise you need inner fire, as topsy will kill it. Depends what you need to do. With shadow visions rotating then easy multiple copies of spells are gone too.
I dunno, will sit on the fence until i see more of the set then. Was just hoping for more from priest's scheme. As we're also losing spellstone, a rez would have been great.
....what are you talking about?
1) this card will never reduce a minion's attack by 0, since it starts at 1. 2) CBS only requires "2 or less attack", so AT WORST you can steal a 3-attack minion with this as a topdeck. 3) Since this is 0 mana, it means CBS is very playable for a good tempo swing on curve which is something that Priest has pretty much never had.
I never said by 0 i said it will reduce it to 0.
I still don't understand what you're getting at. The attack reduction isn't permanent.
Sigh, my bad, i had selective eyesight and didnt see the until your next turn bit. Although on their turn it will still be a lower attack. Vs priest they can steal their minion back before the debuff resets. Or opponent can attack into it to kill it depending on situation.
Better card than i thought, but still hoping for more meatbags priest can drop to stay alive long enough.
Fine enough card and good for dealing with taunts or bigger threats when you don;t have an instant death card. Might be good for aggro not having to sacrifice 2-3 small minions for one big minion and someone will pull of combos with this but other than that... it's fine.
So I should keep this card in mulligan, hope to draw my cabal shadow priest to maybe steal a 6 attack Minion on curve? Seems veeery situational and passive.

well, thats how you play classic control priest of old before they decided to print completely bonker OP cards for the class.
I do think this reprint is proven worked combo for the class. The thing is Priest need a good win condition again.
A streamer invited by Blizzard have just said: "...wait when they reveal a Priest card that I have seen at Blizzard, you will scream insane when you combo with this".
So we have to wait and see the other card (it's not legendary he said) that combo insanely with this card....
Ok I'll bite. I think the other card will be that a single target will be changed towards a full enemy board. So when you combo this card with the to be revealed card, all enemy minions will have their attack lowered.
Not terrible. It has some notable combo's. Two card combo for simple removal isn't great, but a two card combo to steal a minion that will get it's attack back is pretty good. We'll see.

The problem I see is, more often than not a priest is dead by turn 6 due to the lack of lower cost decent minions. We’re losing spirit lash too. Really hoping for healing and decent grunts to stay alive.

Especially when we're losing cards like radient elemental. Priest's early game needs to be better
Yes, this card is good. yes, you can turn the game around on turn 6. Turn 5 you Mass Hysteria. Turn 6 this plus Shadow Priest. They have 1 or 2 minions at most and then you steal 1 of them.
If we are getting another neutral legendary like the Lich King this expansion, this card will steal that instead. Keep in mind, this card does not need to be in your opening hand to be good. It needs to be drawn by turn 2 or 3 and still work with Shadow Priest.
Also, if we are going to get crazy good Mech and deathrattles, this card can steal them. This will keep Hunter or any other deathrattle decks in check.

The damaging aspect of Spirit Lash is only good against Odd Paladin, which isn't going to be a thing anymore. As far as healing goes, Divine Hymn will effectively accomplish the same thing.
Busted good 0-mana Mind Control if you can hold it early enough (combo'd with the already often mentioned Cabal Shadow Priest), and great hard removal when combined with Forbidden Words.
Yesterday I watched a Toast video, where he gave this card 10/5 just because it could enable OTK decks. And I can say this:
What the F is he thinking? Why would anyone want to run this spell there and wait until it gets upgraded, so that you can combine it with Shadow Madness and the Inner Fire package? Why not just run Stormwind Knight, 2x Power Word: Shield, 2x Divine Spirit and Topsy Turvy? It can deal 36 damage and you aren't reliant on waiting for a specific spell to get better. All you need is to draw the right cards.
I really hope Toast was joking when he rated it that high. I don't know if inner fire priest will become a thing again after the rotation, but the loss of Shadow Visions is going to hurt a lot and Lazul's Scheme won't make the deck any better than what it once was.

Because Priest now has a critical mass of zero mana spells, wich enable them to cycle like crazy with Auctioneer.
I am not sure about the whole divine spirit, Innerfire ( that’s 20 or with pw shield 28 dmg with Stormwind Kight? being able to save both pw. Shields for that combo seems a bit unrealistic) combo. But it’s definitely waaaay more scary than just being a slightly better Humility.
To me this is the typical card people are dismissing the powerlevel of before they see it in action. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have to nerf something around that card , if the archetype gets too oppressive.

If your point is, that people could use Lazul's scheme as a cheap cycle tool, then yeah, I won't disagree here. However priests can always go with their well-known Northshire Cleric shenanigangs (feat. Wild Pyromancer, Acolyte of Pain, Circle of Healing), so it's not like the class lacked a good draw engine or anything. I won't disagree that Lazul's Scheme is still useful, but the question is - in what kind of a combo deck will it shine?
In my previous post I just expressed my disagreement with Toast's statement, that this card would enhance Inner Fire priest, because players would combine it with Shadow Madness. To me that's a really weak combo, because it's slower and clunkier to the one I proposed. Let's compare them:
I find the second example way better, because instead of waiting for a good Shadow Madness target, you can literally do the same thing with the Stormwind Knight. Whether that's a reliable combo and whether they will be other obstacles to overcome (like taunts), is another topic. If Potion of Madness and Shadow Visions were still around, I would have had a different opinion about this whole thing.
Where else do you think people could use this spell (outside maybe Cabal Shadow Priest decks)?
Scheme, Shadow Madness, 2 x Divine Spirit, Topsy Turvy, Vivid Nightmare is 10 mana and 32 damage from any 4 health or more enemy minion, may even see Silence a lot to deal with up to 3 taunts. This could get degenerate; the salt will be epic.
You have the added bonus of possible 0 mana destroy almost any minion with either Forbidden Words or Topsy Turvy whilst drawing at least two cards with Auctioneer, so carrying two is part of your win condition. All we need is another good clear, already have heaps of draw.
Thank god this says ËNEMY minion or we would have a three card OTK on our hands with mechat'hun.
Edit: Well mechathun is still possible with shadow word: death and a brewmaster but that takes more setup.

Not sure if hyped yet.

Im sure it will find its spot though.

i dont think this card is consistent enough
u first have to draw this card then wait for few turns so the effect would be good and u must have combo card with this like cabal
They literally reprinted a shitty version of Humility...
What a massive letdown for a "Scheme" card.

Control priest could come back as so many combo decks are leaving and cards like Dead Man's Hand, Deathstalker Rexxar, and Shadow Visions.
Rage quitting: the best way to ensure your opponent knows they beat a giant baby.

Lazul's scheme (X turns upgraded), Shadow Madness, 0-2 Power Word: Shield, 2x Divine Spirit +Topsy Turvy/Inner Fire (5-7 cards depending on the minion you steal)
vs
Stormwind Knight, 2x Power Word: Shield, 2x Divine Spirit and Topsy Turvy (6 cards for a clean 36 damage burst)

There could be more coming to support this, but right now it's steal a minion with Cabal Shadow Priest, OTK with Shadow Madness, combo removal, damage delay, and with Gadgetzan Auctioneer 0 cost draw.
This will see play.
