I saw this on reddit and hoped it was fake, guess that's not the case.... As a combo Decks lover I hate cards like this one.... The sole thought of this little gnome (That,to twist the knife into the wound,I bet will have an awfully annoying voice line) milling my key card makes me salty.... As if that wasn't enough it has perfectly fine stats so unless you're playing a tribal Deck there's no reason not to play 2 copies of this....
Against aggro and Midrange, this card does not much. Once in a while it will discard a good card. But generally yo can simply take it as if you never drew the discarded card in the first place. Against combo, this card can hit hard, but will not do this consistently. I think dirty rat is better as a combo breaker.
But in general, I don't like the concept a bit. Luckily, I rarely play combo decks. But I am surprised since I thought a policy of Blizzard is not to introduce discard effects for the opponent. But I guess they made an exception since the card is bd enough to not see play anyway. 2 mana 2/3 with an effect that does nothing for the board or the own value. And with an off chance to remove something good from the game. Is not worth the inclusion (unless Blizzard pushes some mill mechanic for Warlock).
Finally blizzard is going to let us tamper with our opponent's strategy. You see, combo has never been strong and has always been nerfed because there was no way to stop it. Introducing cards like these lets you print strong combo cards knowing that there will be ways to counter them. In a way it makes combo decks interactive, just on another level. Can't wait for them to introduce mechanics like discard cards from your opponent's hand. And to all of you that think that it's unfair that strategies like this one think about it with a different perspective. The existence of this type of cards OPENS UP design space instead of reducing. If you could tamper more with your opponent's hand and deck more powerful cards can be printed without being OP since they can be countered. I know that this card is not exactly that but it shows a change in mentality that in the long run will be good for the game.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but there is exactly the same kind of card in MTG, and i think there's a worst one when you can chose a the top three card of your opponent's deck.
I like it. Face deck gonna hate this if you discard like leeroy jenkins ^^ So I LIKE IT !
I have always preferred midrange to combo or heavy control, so I am biased in thinking it is okay (it can't destroy my win condition in 1 card).
I don't want to push a viewpoint much but I will note that I have played lots of games against combo decks where there was literally zero chance of winning. Had I been able to interact with their hand/deck I may have a small chance, and the hope of that is surely all that would keep me playing that game?
It's not nice that it is so random, but unless you allow one player to choose (which will either be more destructive to the combo deck or worthless depending on who chooses) it always(?) will be with deck/hand disruption.
Yeah pretty much 2 mana 2/3 do nothing, although it can f up some deck strategies like destroying a 2nd jade idol, or evolve, alex etc.
you miss the fact that warlock has no good 2 drop atm, also if you remove a tirion or deathwing or the new death knight from your opponents deck you basically won
Yeah I definitely miss the fact that warlock has no good 2 drops, being a warlock main and having 80% of all my games on warlock. This is not the 2 drop warlock needs. Its rng driven and does nothing pretty much against aggro. Gollaka Crawler is better than this.
Funny how you bluster about your warlocks feats but have nothing to say about the fact warlock has indeed no good 2 drop atm. Aggro isn't the only archetype in the meta, sticking out your chest isn't gonna change that.
What? I thought Blizzard said "We don't like cards that messes up with your opponent's cards". But I am happy that they are trying new ideas. This is still less salty than Dirty Rat coz u won't know which card was removed.
Since Warlocks don't go for fatique, a card removed from the top of their deck is on average irrelevant. Sometimes you remove something strong, but usually you will remove something that they don't want to draw.
This only really hardcounters combo decks, and only if they have an reasonable amount of combo pieces.
At least you know what card you destroyed, and thus you don't worry to play around it (or became less risky play straight anyway, if you remove a 2-of card)
That is true. But that upside dosen't justify playing a vanilla 2/3.
We will have to see, but this feels close to unplayable unless combo decks run rampant.

"この 先は 暗い 夜道 だけが も 知らない それでも信じて 進むんだ 星が その道 を 少し でも 照らしてくをるのを"
Wow. So in Wild, One Emperor Thaurissan tick and you can do:
Brann Bronzebeard, Gnomish Vampire, Gnomish Vampire, Youthful Brewmaster, Youthful Brewmaster, Gnomish Vampire, Gnomish Vampire for 10 Mana..
That's 8 cards burned, without them having to have a full hand. Just. Wow.

Custom cards :
CLASSES : Alchemist (CCC#5 | Phase V) | Chef (CCC#4)
EXPANSIONS : Year of the Scorpion (Year Comp)
This could stop combo decks for good if put in the right time. Interesting concept.

Will be frustrating to see it remove your win condition

I love this, finally a way to screw over those uninteractive combo decks that just sit and wait all game until suddenly they've won.
You can sit there and not play a thing all game, thinking you're holier than thou, until I burn your win condition. xD
Basically the Fel Reaver argument again. The removed card doesn't matter unless you hit fatigue. Still a good card.
Mill Warlock meta, oh yeah! Strange card to print, especially for someone like Blizzard, still.
Does this counts as "Discard a card" by any chance?

Hello.
Rng?
Even just removing any card is good.
oh great. a card that can destroy your whole gameplan and you can do absolutely nothing about it.
and of course it's completely random ! awesome design !
