posted a message on Pairing of opponents in ranked play

    @OP

Match making is essentially a 3 sides coin flip. Someone has to get the high roll in match making and someone has to get the low roll.

That is the bottom line. Queueing is as RNG based as mulligan, as drawing, as discovery and so on. Its a card game. Players in rank will play the most consistent decks for this very reason, to minimize the impact of random and increase win percentages.

We all have experienced huge win streaks and like wise huge losing streaks. Outlier RNG and matchmaking is a major reason for that. However, good players will play well and mitigate losing streaks as much as possible, it really can feel debilitating when it happens.

Look at the bright side though, your unlucky match making is really making a good day for someone else! Way to be a good Samaritan in a relatively toxic community! XD

posted a message on 2 free Golden Packs anyone?

    Found it:

Golden Card pack contains Classic cards. These packs use the new pack opening rulesregarding duplication protection, but will otherwise have an independent chance of containing Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary cards unrelated to any special rules (such as a guaranteed Legendary within 10 packs) nor other Hearthstone Sets, including Classic.

    Source: https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/blog/21098853/

Pretty clear if you ask me.

And golden packs apply the same rules as other packs.

So for who received other golden packs before and not opened a leg there is a descent chance to open one since we still in the first 10 golden packs.

Fairly certain this isn't the case. They should follow the same rules as classic packs. So if you haven't opened a classic legendary in a while there's a better chance of you getting a golden legendary.

I'd have to search for the Blue, however, this is wrong. (Infact I believe that it's the only time blizzard has openly commented on the existence of pity timers).

Regular rules and pitty timers don't apply to golden packs. However, there does seem to be a heavily weighted increase on the chances of legendaries as has been reported with past openings.

posted a message on New taunt druid. Impossible to lose vs certain classes?

    Morning,

It's hardly unbeatable, a well curved Kingsbane decks beats it just fine, and it's definitely weak against control mage.

Tbh I find the quest variant to be much more aggressive and hard to deal with, since it just draws/armors and drops lethal on the board and says deal with it. Even if you have removal or a vanish you're still going to deal with 30 damage refill. There's no easy way to deal with it. Even double brawl most likely leaves a board with 30+ dmaage and a couple LKs.

And @ DMH_Meta it's been 4 days since release. Can't call anything netdecking yet nor does everyone watch twitch, why even respond? You even state the streamer you use as an example plays different cards...

posted a message on Why So Much RNG?

The bottom line is card games like HS require RNG, because there needs to be an essence of luck.

Others have given great reason already for RNG and why the prefer it. The question is what's the right amount of RNG, the OP thinks too much, and probably wasn't around for the Casino mage meta...

The truth right now is there may not actually be enough RNG, the meta is so polarized and draw dependant that by T5/6 you usually know which way the game is going and there's nothing you can't do about it, resulting in an utter sense of hopelessness. This is why discovery is arguably the strongest and best mechanic in the game, it offers the RNG element but choice as well, causing impact and game changing outcomes and decision making all at once.

Deathstalker Rexxar is an example of too far, because infinite card generation with discovery is just too powerful, but again what is the sweet spot, the place where it doesn't feel like chess or checkers vs playing a slot machine. And everyone has a different opinion on what that is...

posted a message on People who play standard netdecks in Wild

Complaining someone is playing a standard deck in wild is like complaining someone brought a family sedan to a formula race.

Honestly, if you're getting beaten by the sedan when your driving a n F1, you probably need to asses your own deck/play because your probably getting beaten by everything,

Also, if you lose to what you "think" is a standard deck ask yourself: did I see all 30 cards in their deck? If you didn't how do you actually know?

Yet, Jade Druid was still alive and well even with Geist. Stop looking for ways to shit on paladin and just accept that the combo deck will still work. just use Da Undetakah to gain Hakar's deathrattle and VOILA!! Sorry you're pissed that something other than odd paladin is going to be tier 1. Go shit on other class deck theorycrafts and leave paladin alone for once.

Damn straight. The truth is that most decks are so tuned Geist is a luxury and mostly finds its way into super heavy control decks (which aren't heavily played because OTK is a thing right now) and even decks, which usually take Mossy over Geist to counter druid plague walls.

For those worried about silence, paladin is the king of buff and high value. I'd honestly look at adding cards that beg for silence or removal forcing your opponent to chose get wrecked now or later. The combo is a late game play under any circumstance, it's quite likely you can bait out silence early/mid game. And then play a back up like Da Undetakah as well.

I'm curious if this deck doesn't suit a buff infinite draw style paladin. I'd also add DK pali in for this release for a 10HP swing and a 2ndary win condition. Zola and maybe some bankers would be awesome in supporting both the combo and Exodia win conditions.

ITT - OP can't take criticism

How many times do I have to say this...I'm upset because people a lot of people are telling me to cut the combos I mentioned and that defeats the purpose of the deck. I am well aware of it's downsides it's obvious I built this deck with that in mind that's why I had zola as backup. But if people are gonna just be like that then there is no point on me continuing on with this discussion thread if the discussion is just to tell me not to play the combo.

Only 2 mentions of that in the entire thread. The first gave good reasoning for their opinion and the 2nd as an either or mixed in with some other good ideas. The majority of people here are saying to switch out other aspects of your deck: more proactive cards than weak reactive cards, and add in backups to your combo.

Those are good ideas and all fair responses.

@OP - The combo itself is a really good use of Liam and Soulflayer, what others are trying to tell you in this thread is that your deck lacks on everything else: draw to get to combo, sustain, etc. Your deck is an all in deck but has no way to succeed if the combo gets broken or can just get face-rolled by bad draw, which this deck would/is very prone to.

Also, whether or not your intentions are for a deck to be competitive is fairly irrelevant when you post it to the community at large. You have a deck with a cool win condition. If a deck is going to lose the majority of time in the name of fun though... well why ask for critique at all.

I suggest going back and carefully reading what others are saying and maybe reassess your OriginalPost and think about what your asking for by posting this deck. There are some very high level players that hangout in this forum including PROS, we all benefit by listening to each other as a community. The bottom line is if you don't want constructive criticism or critiques in general don't post asking for it and be upset when you get it.

I will leave this thread open for now, because it is a cool concept that could be refined as a playable deck. However, if the responses continue to degenerate we'll deal with that then.

Wait....are the crystals filled or not?

Could you play on turn 10: 4-drop, this card, 5-drop?

I wish. However, the current wording when mana crystals refill is GAIN: reference Twig. So this outcome although awesome and insane for tempo is highly unlikely.

posted a message on New Druid Card Reveal - Gonk, the Raptor

The correct word is "they", the hero is a person not a thing. It's understandable many would be confused especially players with English as a second language.

Example: You're having friends over. You tell the people already at your house you'll start the board game as soon as they (your remaining friend) gets there. You wouldn't say as soon as IT gets here. Ever. Unless of course you're Gollum.

Oh dear the wording hurts my brain. Apparently the devs at T5 have never taken an english class in their lives.

Now the card, if druid gets enough hero support in the form of cheap attack buffs, this card has the potential to be bonkers.
