GamesBeat: The other new thing in the expansion is Lifesteal. What are you hoping to accomplish with that new ability? Did you want to slow down the game some more?
Donais: Lifesteal is a smaller mechanic in the set. It’s a bit like Poisonous, where there’s only a smaller number of cards. But it’s something that is pretty intuitive and fun. People like the idea of Lifesteal. It’s existed in many games, and on all those games people love gearing up with items for it, stuff like that. We’ve always liked the fantasy of it. We’ve explored it a bit in the past and it’s worked out really well. We had a Warlock card and a Pally card that had Lifestealing. So we thought about what classes are really good at gaining life, what classes it would fit with flavor-wise. Paladin and Priest came to mind.
Priest has this shadow form, darkness, life-stealing thing going on in WoW. It made sense to put it there. We’re exploring it a bit. There will be cards specifically in the classes, and then a couple of neutrals. We’re always really careful with life gain in neutral, because really life gain in neutral means life gain in Warlock. That has to be balanced a bit differently because of their hero power.
So no lifesteal for warlock, because that is totally not what comes to mind when you speak about Lifesteal, Mistress of Pain, Drain Life and Siphon Soul... it's obviously Priest and Paladin.
Bonus: On warlock
Is Warlock getting some help?
Donais: They have some cool stuff. I don’t know if one expansion is going to make them go from pretty weak to pretty strong. We’re always careful with Warlock, because Warlock has been really strong since launch, except for in this one expansion. It might have to creep up slowly over multiple sets. We put some good cards in there and we’ll see what happens. I’m sure that as time goes by, it’ll get better and better.
I felt almost certain Warlock would be getting some lifesteal "/ . It's a real shame because it basically leaves Control Warlock dead. We all know how terrible recent, neutral heals have been.
They are always giving more heals to classes that don't need more heals like paladin, priest, I think even mage doesn't need it. I agree that it's really easy to make warlock op. They have really strong basic and classic cards so I don't mind them giving warlock some vanilla trash cards. I think lifesteal would be op in warlock. They basically just need more heals.

What did I just read?! Warlock has not a single staple card. Not. One. They work DESPITE having shit core cards not because of them. Most warlock decks run anywhere from 20-25 neutral cards. That's how shit their class cards are. And yes their hero power is part of the reason, but the hero power lost so much potential with the rotation. Who would have thought that drawing more cards is not nearly as valuable if the cards you draw are kinda shitty. Warlock lost his unique selling point with the inclusion of Discover for every other class. Why waste 2 mana, get 2 damage have 0 tempo and thin your deck to draw another shitty card when you can get a 1/4 body for 3 mana with taunt and get a free Sunkeeper Tarim on top?
Can't turn warlock from weak to strong in one expansion? Shaman 4 mana 7/7 0 mana 5/5 taunts, ring any bells?
Priest and Paladin have so much healing already. But I am happy they're only doing this for a small amount of cards. Hunter, Druid and Warlock need love this expansion. The other classes are fine.
He literally said that there will be neutrals with lifesteal. I doubt they will be super strong lifesteal, but warlock will have access to some neutral healing.
As usual they print shitload of healing cards for classes that don't even need them. What they print for warlock? Complete utter garbage with almost no synergies as usual, it came to the point where 80 percent of warlock decks consists of neutral cards. Why print exreme self damaging cards, when you can't even print good healing card for warlock? Oh and how on earth you leave warlock, whose one of the main specialisations is life draining, without lifesteal card?
Not giving any Lifesteal cards to 'lifestealer' is BS.
Neutral Lifesteal cards will be like 2 mana 2/2 Lifesteal, calling it. A Taunt Lifesteal minion would be nice to play actually, but I'm 99% sure that the stats will be so bad.
Well, d'uh when there will be neutral Lifestealing minions, so obviously every class has access then. The thing is, they will undertune them, just because they are afraid to give warlock anything useful.
I really don't understand their fear of giving neutral healing to Warlock, I mean did Healbot make Warlock OP? I really don't think so, it was a great deck for sure but still wasn't oppressive by any means and still had the Warlock weakness of low HP.
I remember them saying before about not having good neutral healing but keeping healing in a few classes, but they didn't say "because Warlock" which is what Donais is saying here.
I don't know why the hell they don't offer rogues lifesteal. They have leeching poison in WoW and it makes sense thematically that they're stealing life from others. Paladins make no sense for lifesteal thematically. Also when two classes can create half their deck based on only healing cards that they never use, perhaps it's time to share the love a bit and let classes like rogue and hunter have access to healing so they can attempt control variants. I mean warrior, shaman, and paladin all can play aggro, midrange and control decks. What's wrong with rogue and hunter getting access to control as well?
Lifesteal goes with warlock the most out of any class, that why one of it's original cards already has that mechanic. Donais comments don't make sense in light of this.
Zoolock doesn't need lifesteal anyway and if you want control, there's always renolock in wild. Also if we get more good taunts, they will fit nicely in all control decks.

Not looking good.

Yeah, let's give Paladin and Priest MORE HEAL. No! Let's make them DEAL DAMAGE AND HEAL!

The mage hero hello?

No. Just NO. Druid has plenty of healing.

Their will be a couple Neutral lifesteal minions, they just won't be great.
Its absolutely fucking staggering.
Their balance aim isn't to have each class have a few t1-2 decks, but to cripple classes and give them "turns" in the spotlight.

If this is true then the new mage hero card that was "leaked" is for sure fake
